I have seen that term a couple of times now. I guess that means a crappy computer? is it a reference to Portal 2? If so that is really funny I have looked at myself with/without camo and it always seems like I stick out either way This is very good, thank you. I have observed this effect but I didn't connect the dots on how it would work in reverse. huh, ok thanks. It seems like the general consensus is that camo does help but nobody has really specified their favorite pattern. Do you think there is an advantage to Ttsko/autumn/summer patterns?

Does camoflage actually make you any harder to see (while holding still)?...if so, what do you think is the best pattern? I am looking for the most versatile camo...as if it is the only one I'll ever have. Also, I know there are opinions about how camo makes you more likely to be shot at - I do not consider this relevant to the question. Thank you!

Yeah I'm not sure how I did that...Anyway, tto return to the original topic- I was asking if a sidearm has any utility if I already have an AKM with the 75 round drum. In this situation you would say that weapons are still the most important thing to collect? Thank you for adding to the discussion :-)

Thank you again for the replies. There have been some good points and valuable perspective on this...I learned a lot. I have decided to stop carrying a handgun for now. With my play style I think the slots can be used better without the FNX.

So you shoot zombies? My experience has been that shooting one attracts 5 more....thanks for the replies

I have had the FNX45 a handful of times and I only used it in a firefight once, because it happened to be out. My violent encounters seem to fall into two categories: 1- stumbled right onto a guy, panic and fire every bullet in my magazine or 2- end up firing from a large distance and killing my opponent with only a couple of bullets. In the first type I tend to "hip fire" so a nearer ranged sight doesn't offer an advantage and in the second obviously a magnified sight is key. So as to my question (sorry for long buildup)- is this similar to your experience and if so is there any point to having a handgun?...If you had an AKM with the big mag and the PSO sight? I find that I am picking it up and adding all of the accessories because I think it's cool but never using it.

The only time I have had an M4 was my most heartbreaking death. I was flush with gear...camo, tools, ammo, meds, food...I was totally self-sufficient. It felt like there was no way I would lose in a shootout but I was being super careful. I had been alive for 20 hours of game time and had long since broken the cardinal rule- I was attached to my gear. I would only sprint out in the country, if I got within a few hundred yards of civilization I would crouch/walk. I made my way to NWAF and climbed up one of the green "crows nests" to look for threats. Nobody around, looked safe for the time being. I moved the mouse around looking for the "climb down ladder" cursor and the second it showed up (in a moment of impatience) I hit 'F' and what I thought was 'S' to start climbing down. Well the 'F' didn't take and I didn't hit S, I fat-fingered a W and walked into thin air and my death. I probably stared at the black screen for a full two minutes before thinking "F@(K IT" and re-spawning.

I had this same problem. Was tweaking settings to improve performance and lost 1920x1080 as an option. If you have a GeForce GPU and "The GeForce Experience" program open DayZ through that. It gives you the option to optimize DayZ for your video card and it will force it back to running 1080.
