  1. I'm looking into Building a medium end Desktop for Dayz, Any of you Lads from Ireland be able to tell me the best way of going about it, Is there any Particular website our store back home worth taking a look into? I'm finding that the parts In the UK/ Ireland are quite expensive compared to America and the likes, Is it worth ordering from Abroad, Has anyone tried this and if so was there High tax on the components? Lastly This is my first Time trying to build a Desktop , I have been filling my brain with this techno mumbo jumbo and I'm just about starting to get the basics of it. Here are a few main components I'd like to see in the build but are subject to change. CPU = i5 GPU = gtx 770 Motherboard = asrockz77 extreme 4 Any suggestions fire them my way, Hope to spend between 600-800euro (not including monitor keyboard/mouse)

Any Irish Pc gamers out there, Need some Help!

Thanks for the tips IrishRoy the i5 3570 was actually what i was looking at, Good point about the i5 3570(k), worth getting it if i was ever to get into OverClocking in the future, good to keep options open like that for the sake of 5 euro. I Planned to go for 8gb of ram, I read somewhere that with Ram (2x4gb) is better that 8gb, is this true? Not taking into account it obviously takes up more space on your Mobo for extra ram you may want to add in the future. What is your Opinion on second hand parts? are some ok and others a NO GO! or should they be avoided altogether.

    Cannabalism

Forgive me if this has been brought up before but what about cannibalism, has there been talk of introducing it into the game. I think it would make for a rather interesting feature, being able to cook up the remains of your dead friend/Victim. I think the option to Chow down on some human flesh would make for some pretty heated moral debates in game. I'm sure Mr. Moon would find a way to fit it into one of his darker video's. And lets be honest, it's not a post- apocalyptic setting without out a bit of cannibalism, It's a Dog eat Dog world out there. Let me know what you think, POet out.

I Give You My Word - TLa Gameplay

It's a pity to hear that, maybe in the future come closer to release people will have moved on from 3rd person. I've no doubt we will have more people playing DayZ, so simple put more people, higher population on each type of sever. I image 3rd person will probably always be the dominant play style though, Vigilante's points are 100% spot on, there is very little to debate on the subject, he really nails it. Doesn't change the fact people tend to prefer 3rd person. Hopefully it gives people an incentive to give Hardcore a go, If it does just that, Success! Vigilante is actually my favorite DayZ youtuber, Love all his videos, When I first watched him I thought he was quite cocky, I kept on watching his videos though and realized I agreed with practically everything he talked about , He has a very cool calculated approach towards things and looks at both side of the fence on most subjects, never jumping to conclusions. Refreshing to watch.

Nice video, love checking out TLa's vid's, pretty good stuff. I wonder how that situation would have panned out in Hardcore. could be a bit risky popping your head around that corner.

    Food as Currency

Some of you may disagree and that's fine, I'm just playing with the idea but to introduce Food as a type of currency. To do this of course there would have to be a major overhaul on the food loot drops and how much your character in game, actually needs food. Like I said I'm just playing with the idea here. What i thought was that each individual food item has its own value, that value is based on how effective or nutritious/filling the particular food is. So take a can of coke just say that replenished only a small portion of health , out of total of just say 5 we would give that a 2/5 that's its value. Now compare that to a can of beans which we will say gives twice as much energy so 4/5. needles to say 2 cans of coke is worth 1 can of beans, so now we have a sort of value system to work with. Bullets and guns ect... can be pawned of in exchange for food. for example an SKS may be worth 6/5 food units , so we will need at least 3 beans to make a fair trade, depending on its condition we can haggle it to maybe to two beans and a can of coke (5/5 units) if its not in perfect condition. Please tell me what you think "DO NOT" post about how it wont work right now in alpha as that is obvious. If anyone has any suggestions to improve or even there own ideas please tell me I'd love to hear . Poet out.

I gotta say I Love the shop Idea, think that sounds pretty plausible.

    Food as Currency

Sorry Homie but I have to disagree with most of what you said. On paper I do believe this idea works, My question to you is why on earth would you trade your last remaining bit of food if you knew you hadn't any spare. The idea of a trade is that both parties end up with something they need from each other of generally similar value. Its down to the traders to decide if they want to make a loss for an item. having a value for each item would also make trading easier , take for example you want to trade a Pistol worth say a can of beans and i want to trade an axe worth a can of beans, That would be a fair trade no food needed for the transaction. Remember I Use food as a guildline , It's just an idea I'm playing with. I don't believe the developers should implement it into the game , I'd like to see it happen throughout the Dayz community naturally. Back to your point about said trader #1 now shooting said trader #2 in the back. Just silly, why would you give away your only gun to someone you don't know ? If you needed the food that bad then ok, but in that case you were going to die regardless so it was worth the risk. Please don't use the excuse that trade won't work cause it will only turn into a gunfight, I think that it's impossible to predict an out come, we know there is dicks out there , Nice one for pointing out the obvious , next time learn to trade smart, simply travel with a partner or insure guns aren't drawn, Maybe try not trading your only gun and ammo "DUHHHH" . If you really think that people can't actually coexist and simply Barter goods In Dayz, that things will continue to go the way they are where KOS is the norm then why don't you un-install Dayz already cause it sound like its going to be a pretty shit game.
  12. How do you plan to play DayZ when it's finally here, Hard Core Or Standard. It's nice to play 3rd person sometimes, as to get a nice view of the world your character is engulfed in but I just don't think It has a real place in an online game like Dayz. 3rd person takes a lot of risk from a shooter, it doesn't force you to peek around corners to get a view of the possible enemy, making it far to easy to lay out an ambush on a unsuspected passer. While 1st person obviously does just that, every move is calculated you literally are looking over your shoulder all the time. That seems to be the experience everyone talks about, that fear of the unknown. So what will you guys be playing I would love to hear what your opinion is and why. yours truly Poet.

really like it, not overly complex but still adds a lot of dept and realism. Fresh ideas.

    Food as Currency

I can't argue that KOS does cause problems, but this is something that will be present throughout DayZ for good, its a part of the game that cant be removed without taking away key features of the game. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't still encourage and work towards actually bartering/trading between characters, this Topic was to talk about peoples ideas or suggestions, not about how KOS and its destructive nature.

    Food as Currency

That's what I'm talking about dude, of course it wont work right now in Alpha for a number of reasons but in the future once the build is finished its possible.

    Food as Currency

I suppose what I'm trying to say is there needs to be more focus on Food/water in Dayz and its importance to surviving. If this was the case food would become common form of currency. An example would be that say I meet you and wanted to buy your M4 , now your already geared up, so you don't need any of my items and the ammo I have doesn't suit your gun. Food would be the only thing worth trading for you cause you can use it to trade off again or eat later yourself if you need it.

    Food as Currency

The system I'm talking about would act more of a guide line, of course if you have a pack full of food you wont have any need to collect anymore, unlike money which one would horde to their hearts content, Food would act as a general bases of trade. Taking into account you have limited space in your pack. In real life that's how I would imagine it would go down, there is nothing stopping you from trading other items also. In theory the same system would could work with bullets but the problem with bullets is that not everyone needs every caliber of bullet. so it wouldn't make a great currency, still a good trade to some cases. Right now DayZ is a giant PVP deathmatch , because in reality there is not much else to do, surviving isn't difficult, food is far from scarce once you gear up there is little or nothing to do. I actually feel in the future if the Devs made food/water much more scarce and had a bigger role to play on health this type of system would take over by its self, Like i said before I was only suggesting it as a guide-line for people to follow while trading.

How will you play, Hardcore or Standard

I still have to get a Desktop that will run DayZ but I'll be jumping right into HC from the get go. I like a more realistic/tactical approach so HC is really the only way to play in my opinion. I hope to find a HC clan that uses this military style coordination, I figure most of the more serious Clans will be on HardCore in the near future.

Do you enjoy hardcore more though?

How will you play, Hardcore or Standard

Yeah, I gotta agree with TestNewbie, It just seems Hardcore is how the game should be played to get that true Survival experience. Otherwise you just end up with this "arcade like" version. I also don't see a benefit to playing in 3rd to meet or chat to people as most of the mature players appear to be playing Hardcore.

    What the future Holds

I just want to start by saying, It's not often I get sucked into a game I have never even played. Last time I Remember clocking through video after video of a game I'd yet to experience was in the days of Starwars Galaxies. DayZ SA seems to have hit all the right buttons for me, Fair to say I'm hooked at the moment. A great thanks to some great YouTube vids from people like Mr. Moon, Vigilante Gamer, Frankie to many names to give a shout out to but I’m glad to say these guys have really captured the style I’ve been looking for in a game for quite some time. A mix of Survival and adventure, Uncertainty around every corner. A real roleplay experience. That’s not to say I can’t see flaws in the gameplay, of course it is in Alpha and I am only working off Videos been streamed online but I do wonder what direction the developers will take. Regarding Zombies they seem to be more of a nuisance that a treat, avoiding them looks like child’s play and reminds me of the Elderscroll series a constant battle of back stepping/swing but in this case even more basic. My point being they don’t strike fear into the player, I suggest maybe implementing hordes into the fray. Hot spots across the map may be swamped with a Hordes of Flesh cravers, which could continually relocate from town to town (real time). I know we will have to see what the DEVS have in store for as it’s still early Day’z but it’s just food for thought. I love the realism that the game brings us so why not push on that. I even feel the gameplay could be slowed down, forcing resting and putting limits on sprinting/jogging. Make the player think when the Best time is to use his energy. I’m more of the hardcore gamer so I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I suppose that’s why they have the hardcore option. Please let me know what you think or if you have any Vid’s/posts I should check out I’d be glad to take a look. Your very own Washed Up Poet.

    What the future Holds

While getting my daily night cap of DayZ videos I actually was contemplating Rain and its effects on health, It was one of Vigilantes Vid’s, He mentioned further development on sickness and disease as we can see the ground work is there already. Wet clothes ect… The question then, “what does one do once fully kitted” was brought up. The answer was bleak, “kill new spawns.” A joke of course but it’s true, right now it is at Alpha stage. A giant test ground for everyone. I look forward to seeing people desperate for food, trading bullets for antibiotics for that nasty cold they picked up in the rain. The game mechanics are there hopefully the devs work out a smart system to draw out the survivors in everyone.
  25. I have to say I like the idea, on paper it looks good, Yeah, it might not work but it really is a good way to hand over controll to the players. It allows us to create our own economy , Placing a Value on particular ithems. Of course there are some flaws with this but they could be worked out over time. Trial and error friend.
