I'm for this idea if it requires a large vehicle OR multiple players to carry the tents around. Signed, Dreganius.

New System - Taking dump and fishing
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to spinear's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I personally find a safe spot and AFK when I need to use the bathroom in real life. Is that not enough? EDIT: Sleeping would be a frustrating mechanic for all. Leaving the game on just so you sleep? No thanks. -
The Infection is permanent until cured.
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to Gravelsack's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Although I feel that carrying it from one life to another is too much, and doesn't make sense in a realistic sense (LEGITIMATE REASONING HERE, FOLKS! Death means the end for your character's life, and thus it should mean the end of the infection in your body), I'm for the Infection being more easily contractable and more easily transmittable. I feel as though, properly tweaked, it make things a lot more interesting. Obviously, antibiotics will need to be more common, as well, though. So, from a realistic point of view, it should end when you die, but be easier to get, especially in a Zombie Apocalypse scenario such as DayZ where you're out in what could be considered the cold for extended periods of time. -
Today was hilarious. My friend and community-mate, Unholyknight, was in a bind in Polana. He had a broken leg, no morphine, and there was none to be found in the town. I was just near the Factory east of him, so I slowly made my way into Polana and rescued him with my last Morphine, and then we ran back to the Factory. He started to infiltrate it while I was eating lunch, so I watched over the place with my binoculars. He spoke up on our Mumble, stating that there was someone else he just caught sight of for a fleeting second. I took up my binoculars and found who he was talking about. The guy had a CZ sniper rifle, so I told Unholy to sneak up on him and cap him if he could. The guy ran to the top floor of the warehouse, and just as Unholy started firing on him, the asshole proned and logged out. Frustrated, he decided to sit and wait, hopefully the guy would log back in (hah.) Meanwhile, I had already eaten, and since there was not really much point in going to help Unholy, I tried to loot the nearby deerstand. I approached it, when suddenly I heard ricochets, and was in shock. I was being shot at from the hill I had just come from. Unholyknight could hear the gunshots but couldn't see any muzzle flashes, so he took cover in the stairwell. Meanwhile, I hobbled over to a pinetree, and, taking cover in its leaves, I bandaged my wounds as I was completely hidden by the treeleaves. Or so I thought. Apparently, this guy can see through leaves, and shot me in the head in a single shot. I call bullshit, and suspect hacks, but since I can't prove anything I don't really care. Regardless, Unholyknight got the fuck out of there straight after, and then I heard him pipe up. "HOLY SHIT, A JEEP!" He joyrode the Jeep to the airstrip, and I made my way there too. When we finally both got there, he just drove up and down the tarmac while I looted the barracks. We got some good gear, but unfortunately he was having too much fun running zombies over and didn't hear me when I asked him to stop and pick me up. So he ran over me and killed me. And then the car broke down. And then he got eaten alive. The end.

PCGamer: Day Z + Arma 3 interview
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to thealgerian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I read through the whole thing, and there are so many things I have been hoping for that Dean has just got my hopes up about. Dogs... Power... Zombies hearing (Already implemented secretly!) I am very happy. Although I very much hope that the power feature will also be able to be sabotaged. -

No-one will post their camping locations. No-one. Unless they're trolling you or are very, very, very silly. -
This is the best and worst game I have ever played.
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to SineDeviance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
+Respect for sticking to your guns. I do the same' date=' but at the same time I play with my friends and we tend to try and completely avoid other players for the moment, due to the Kill-On-Sight (KOS) problem. I have to agree with you to a degree, but if I can't avoid them, I will shoot people who don't answer me when I type "Friendly?" in Direct chat (I don't use voicechat if I'm hidden, as it reveals my location), for reasons of survival. For what little it matters' date=' my own opinion falls in line with yours. There was a huge argument on ANZ8 last night, as the in-game time was bugged and set to day, yet one player named Tom was complaining at how the server should be night, and proceeded to insult all the players who were on the server as they were "Too noobish to get NVGs and play night with the big boys". This shouldn't be the mentality of our players, as there is no "big boys" in DayZ, when any of us can be killed with a few shots to the head. I feel that the moon should appear a lot more frequently and thus offer some minimal light, and some ambient occlusion. I've only had this happen to me once, but I agree that it's infuriating. A bugfix will likely come along soon for this issue, but not if we don't report it. Again, kudos to you for constructively critiquing the Mod's flaws instead of simply loudmouthing how DayZ is "total bullshit" or "a buggy piece of crap". You're the kind of player that contributes to making the game better. -

I concur with XamotDB, I've had few issues with avoiding zombies in 1.7.1.5, and the few issues I have had, they were my own fault in hindsight. In 1.7.1.4, though, they were a legimate issue. -
Nothing more frustrating than avoiding a town full of zombies only to break your arm or leg in a door. I usually crouch to walk through doors and up stairs now, and prone again once I'm free of any magic bone-breaking devices many call "Doorways".

Filled out. And yes, I totally would donate more than a fifty. -
I can't wait to see this. There's a guy on the ANZ servers called Crazy Axe Murderer, he's always in character. Always.

What do YOU make for the DayZ community?
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to mail@borisk.biz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For the community, not a lot, other than post stuff. For the Developers, I post feedback (which is mostly positive because I like the changes they make), and am hoping to help further by helping the team in terms of 3D Games art. We'll see. Whatever happens, happens. -

The story of my first murder, which occurred on the NZ1 server, on Tuesday the 19th. I spawned really close to Balota, so I decided to loot the airstrip and deer stands, to little avail. Finding only a shotgun and a hatchet, my hopes at surviving the day were already low. Heading north, I hoped to find some food or drink, perhaps some ammo. Instead I discovered zombies, and only zombies. After a close encounter that left me on 8000 blood, I only had one shotgun shell left, no sidearm at all, no bandages, no food, no water, and I was beginning to starve. Seeing as my hopes were already slim, I thought I might as well live my seemingly final moments on the edge. Gamble a bit. So I decided to throw all of my proverbial money into the pot and charge into Chernogorsk. Just as I was about fifteen metres away from entering the North-west outskirts (The five apartments and the Hospital) from the open field, I noticed movement from the street ahead. A Survivor, slowly walking around the corner of the far three-storey apartment. He saw me, and spoke into his microphone in Direct Comms. "Friendly, don't shoot!" I complied, not that I had a choice. He was over forty metres away, I doubt my last shot would even have scratched him had I opened fire. It was lucky I didn't. Very shortly after he had spoken his intentions, a head peeked out of the broken windows of the hospital, which was the building midway between us both. Gunshots signaled the end of the poor, defenseless Survivor's life, and I witnessed him slump to the floor. It was at this point which I saw his attacker throw out a smoke grenade to distract the zombies which were now running for him due to his gunshots. The smoke grenade skipped across the ground, spraying smoke everywhere with a loud "hiss", which naturally caused all the Zombies in an immediate area to investigate and ignore the gunshots they heard before. He hadn't noticed me at all (being too distracted by the target he likely thought was speaking to him, not me), so I hit the floor, and, concealed by tall grass as I was, he looked right over me when he made a visual sweep over the area I was hidden in. My heart pounding, I continued to watch. He began to sneak off to loot his victim, his back to me, and in a split-second decision I could have very easily come to regret, I sprinted behind the hospital he had just vacated, my footsteps masked by the hissing from his smoke grenade. I looped around the back of the hospital and peeked out around the corner just as he reached his victim's corpse. As he busied himself, pillaging the corpse of any valuables, I quite leisurely strolled up to him, planted my shotgun at his head, and without feeling of remorse, fired my final shell into his skull. He had some deliciously good gear on him, which I was all too happy to take off of his hands. Amazingly, he had a GPS, as well as a Compass, Watch, a very large backpack, a revolver with four clips (24 shots), A matchbook, a water canteen, food, smoke grenades and a frag grenade, shotgun shells, and various ammunition for other weapons. I lost all of it two days later, due to both some bad timing and a guy in Novy Sobor with a Makarov, but I digress. There were so many ironies about the situation in my story, however. How ironic, this Survivor with next to no gear and a friendly attitude was what killed the man who shot him. How ironic that the killer's own gas grenade masked the sound of my approach. How ironic that the killer's gas grenade also masked the sound of my shot from the nearby zombies, thereby preventing me from having to worry about them. Yet, what I find the most ironic is how he took all the care in the world... But it still didn't save him from instant karma, delivered by the only shot I had left.

I'm one of those people who absolutely love the idea of this game, and love everything Rocket and his team do to improve it. I've sent in an application as I would love to be part of this team with my Game Art skills, and am patiently waiting a reply. There are so many stories that each player experiences, so many great, sad, boring, hilarious, annoying, scary, tense, panicky, etc situations that are all made from nothing more than the players and their interactions with eachother and the world. It's our playground. And it's srs bzns from the moment we log in until the moment we finish playing for the day. And I love every waking moment of it. I myself have been placed in situations that I honestly believe I SHOULD have died in (Six times today alone!), but by a combination of quick thinking, skill, and sheer dumb luck, I've avoided the Reaper's grasp. My thanks and kudos to Rocket and his team, and I really hope to join them soon :P

[SOLVED] deleted.chernarus OR unpatched (Steam version)
Dreganius (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Information: I bought ARMA 2: Combined Operations about a year ago. I have been playing DayZ recently; 1.6.0.1 worked fine, as did 1.7.0. No missing chernarus, no unpatched issues, it all worked. Yesterday, I could play on some 1.7.1 servers, because they were still at the 1.60 OA build. Today, all the servers are using the latest patch (93825), which I have installed. However, I've come across an issue I haven't seen yet; if I run Combined Ops through Steam, I'm running OA build 1.60, instead of OA build 93825, which is required for every 1.7.11 server in Australia/NZ. "Run the Beta OA patch, noob, omg ffs" Hold on just a minute now! As I'm using the Steam version, I run the Beta OA Patch.exe, and it's not running Combined Ops, and thus, I'm missing Chernarus and can't join. Surely I can't be the only Steam user that has had this issue, has anyone solved this problem? DayZ is literally the only game on my mind at the moment. It's likely that I'm missing something glaringly obvious and when it gets pointed out I'm going to feel like an idiot. But, thanks for any help that you ladies and gentlemen can offer. -

My Issues with the 1.7.1 Changes
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to n00baphile's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As a player who has enjoyed everything about this mod so far, I'm a little perplexed as to why Rocket buffed the zombies to such a high degree. I'm 100% for realism in DayZ, and that's exactly why I play it, so I understand that the buff is a lot more realistic, however I feel that the Zed's perception should be slightly nerfed from how it currently is, but not so much as to be as it was before). The increased spawnrate is great, a horde is just what I expect from a realistic zombocalypse scenario, and the fact that the zombies are tougher and hurt more is also something I find bloody awesome. In fact, minus the bugs that'll be hammered out over time, I love the changes to the game, but as has been stated before, having them see you in positions that not even bandits would be able to detect you in is kind of unrealistic and frustrating. In short, it's great that the Zombies are now tougher and more numerous, and I love those aspects, but the idea of them having sight and senses beyond what could be considered possible of a Zombie is my issue. That and the bugs that still remain, but I can't really bitch about that, considering this is Alpha. -

Thanks, Azba, I was having this problem and was looking for a fix. EDIT: And surely enough, it works now. Thanks again.

Is anybody actually using Rifles?
Dreganius (DayZ) replied to Prof. Awesome's topic in New Player Discussion
As has been stated before, yes. People use rifles. I recall entering a town with two of my clanmates last time we played at an internet cafe, while another two kept watch from the hills. The sun was barely rising, so visibility was still fairly low. We were sneaking around with compact weapons ideal for close quarters combat, looking for loot, when we came under fire. Told our sharpies to open fire on anyone in the town who was shooting, and told the rest of the squad to hold fire and take cover, as we didn't even know where the bandits were firing from, and didn't want to attract zombies to our positions. Not even a minute later, the bandits were killed by a combination of the zombies they had lured, and our sharpshooters. Seems like they were new, they had nothing more on them than Makarovs. Probably a pair of players who just wanted an easy weapon fix. So, yes, rifles are definitely useful weapons. Like every weapon, they have their own situation that they're useful in.
