Hi. I cannot seem to find an answer on this. Do stashes (small, medium) disappear or dump their items upon server restart? (I see old threads on this but they are either old or about DayZ standalone... please don't get mad at me for creating a new thread.) Thanks.

That makes the server sound all the more enticing, making me even more sad I can't play on it. Do you think that 250-300 (more towards 300... avg 270) ping is unplayable? It's actually quite bright in the standalone, as Neville said. In the mod it's a bit darker, though, but still playable. P.S. to zeeabo: Do you have any recommendations for other good servers, as you seem to know what makes a good server?

Yeah, I have never played with that high of a ping count. I dunno if it's Vilayer, I suppose Mr. Neville will let me know.

Hah! I love starting over! That's another reason why I play DayZ. I have some condition where I after I play a game for a while and get lots of gear or level up or so on, I hate it. I love starting from scratch. That's why I have 20 something characters in most RPG games and couldn't keep a single Minecraft world longer than a week when I played Minecraft. But I understand your point. Too bad private hives aren't 'allowed' yet.

As long as the whole fucking server doesn't consists of a clan, I am fine. I play lone-wolf unless I team up for a limited amount of time and it's nice if there are others like that on a server. Another double post. Heh, sue me. Edit: Nevermind, no double post. Hah.

I thought there is no such thing as private hive in the standalone, though? At least that's what I thought he was implying. But I dunno. More power to you if you have a server running the normal day night cycle because you have full control. If only it had more traffic...

Sounds even more perfect than before! Hacking aside (that's just straight up cheating, not even douchebaggery), I hate KoS and so on but I think that it should never be a bannable offense or illegal in any way. It's what makes the game fun. You must have assholes, in my opinion, for DayZ to be fun. That's why I hate these servers that require you to be kind and participate in events, etc.. The simulation of humanity, as I said in a previous post, is why I play. Also I like night. I'll hop on in a bit, I am on East Coast America so we shall see how well it works out ping-wise. If it doesn't, I wish all the luck to you, and I hope I find something as good as your server.

That sounds great! It seems pretty active too. I love all of your points on the website, and the fact that you share my day/night cycle preferences (more or less) makes it all the more perfect. It's nice to know that if the capability of a true 24 hour day/night cycle comes around in the DayZ SA you will consider (or at least that's what it sounds like). So it's basically like any other server? Do what you want? No special clans or events or anything that I have to worry about? Plenty of varied players? Sometimes servers that have such a connected community means that they are not really free-for-all do-what-you-want oriented, which is not what I am looking for.

Well, that sucks. Anyway, whats this server I see in your sig? I like. I looked at the website and the gametracker page, seems pretty nice. I assume that it's 24/7 daytime? I might have to suck it up and play there (or something similar) as it seems your server is perfect in ever other way (against donor loadouts, preserving horror and PvP, etc., etc.).

What does that have to do with the day/night cycle? I thought a server can be restarted but still continue on the normal time cycle... but I might just be stupid. Well yeah, but I am sure the more people that play on it, the more memory being used and the more clutter, etc. in the world, so the less the server has to do? Your servers don't seem to get *all that much* traffic so they might not necessarily be a good gauge. Though it would be nice if servers could go longer without restarts, if it does indeed affect the day/night cycle. Edit to account for your edited post, R.Neville: Oh......... so the standalone handles restarts differently from the mod? That's why? Damn. I did waste my money. *cries and goes back to mod* That's really, really, very depressing.

Well, those are just things that piss me off. What I really actually care about is the day/night cycle. Why why why do no servers have the default day/night cycle? I am sorry but the 24/7 day servers are starting to irritate the hell out of me... there are so many. There is no variation! Edit: I know, I know, lots of people don't like day, especially in the SA because of the lack of features and visibility, but come on! There are no servers that have the day/night cycle!

Ah, nice. What's the timezone? (is it UK?) I just feel like DayZ is not fun unless I'm playing on a 20-40 person server... The "humanity simulation" is why I play. I feel like with a small number of people, everyone is going to either be good or bad, and not find each other around the world, ya know? Ugh, I had the best server to play on for DayZ Mod and now I feel like I have wasted my money on the standalone... Nobody wants to play on a server that has nights! Bleh.

What's your aversion to restarting every 2-4 hours? If you can get a more active player base, I would love to play on your servers. Sounds like you share the same ideals as me regarding night/day cycle stuff and so forth... but nobody else does, it seems! What servers do you play on? You can PM me if you want.

Sorry not sorry for the double post... Well, I finally just searched "night" on some server website and have found 3. Three lonely little day/night cycle servers out there among the hordes of "24/7 day!" or "24/7 night!" or "high loot!" or "no zombies!". Let's just say that I am disappointed that people want to play like that. I mean, this is a survival game... it's meant to be played like that. I know that the standalone doesn't have many night-features or ways to see but come on... anyway. More suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Ah, thanks. I thought you were talking to the other user solely about restarts. Sadly, it seems that your server(s) are not very populated at the moment. I'm looking for servers that have plenty of players. I have found a few and I hope to slowly find more to build up my list. Thanks. Edit: I take that back. I have found no good servers. WHY DON'T PEOPLE LIKE THE DAY/NIGHT CYCLE?!?!

....Ok? Congrats. Not sure how well 12 hours is going to work out for you. Anyway, back on topic. After sifting through the server list, I am becoming even more depressed. It seems that there is no such thing as a *populated* day/night server in DayZ standalone. Yay for wasting money!

So it turns out there there are some good servers hiding among the hundreds of "extra loot!" "no zombies!" "24/7 day!" servers. I have yet to test if they are indeed day/night, but I have managed to get a little favorite list of good candidates (I bit the bullet and purchased the standalone). Any recommendations are welcome, probably by PM if you don't want hackers and trolls flocking over. Thanks.
