Which I think is sad... Same with helicopters too I'm sure. If they make the parts too hard to find before you die then what's the point in even having them in game? So maybe 2 out of 20,000 can enjoy them for 10 min. Again why bother. I'm not sure why all these vehicles don't work anymore? Since where I live there's at least two in every driveway I'm sure I could find one that runs. Hey maybe it was a emp that fried everything and also made people go crazy. I dunno See one car a month!!! So devs please don't waste time on something most of us will never see or be able to use. Make different furniture to make the houses look different at least I'll get to enjoy that.

I would agree but since the same map is used from dayz mod then a lot of people know where they are from years of playing another game. I for one didn't like arma because of the darn ..."MAN at TWO o'clock"... Just couldn't stand that unrealistic shot at signal calling from npc. I see people in youtube videos who know how to get to each town no matter where they are at. Me I'm lost all the time since I have not had the time on this map. Now maybe when I play longer I will figure it out. In a real apocalypse you can bet your a$$ I know where I'm at in my local town even without an online map or teamspeak.

I was saying you can paint the blue ones black or green so you don't get killed for being in the UN clan.

The knee jerk reaction broke your leg! ... That'll learn ya. Well he was going to kill you anyway so maybe karma got him first! 8) PARANOIA is what the DayZ community is. Everyone gone crazy, or so afraid that they will die, that they will just kill you without even having the chance to say a word to them. That is how most people are, even the ones who deny it. But there are still the few out there... Funny!!

I would like to see it be the same for everyone and force the use of a light source. Looting at night requires a flashlight or lamp. It might give you away but everyone will need it. Move around in the dark and click on the light to look for loot or what ever. What's the point of even having flashlights or lamps if there is not need for them? My first time playing was at night and it was kinda scary...before I realized zombies were far and few between... But I managed to make it up to the top of a tank and was looking around then next thing i know there is another (friendly ) player right behind me. Obviously he had is gamma up to see me because it was really dark out. I did change my gamma a bit to make it not black out but it kind of took some of the scariness out of nighttime. I don't know of a good answer to this one but I usually don't play at night anymore only because I refuse to up my gamma every time night comes around or play with it washed out during the day.

Great now not only can we not wear the facemasks because they mean your a bandit we can't wear the un helmet either... Funny about the masks since there isn't that many faces to choose from it's not like anyone can recognize you anyway. Btw you can paint the blue helmet with spray paint. 8)

I think the only way to convince people to be friendly and group up is to have a lot of zombies as a major hazard in the game...ATM they are just a nuisance if you find one. If there was hordes of them passing through a town then people might try to help someone in danger of being over run or group up to kill them and then you can loot. The game really is about the pvp at this early stage so just rummaging for supply's to survive is not all that. I know that changes are coming like vehicles but again those will just add more pvp encounters which isn't bad but if you got a car I want it! I hope with the new pathing and barricading systems coming help people want to be friendly. Imagine you come into a town and find a house crawling with zombies and someone is stuck inside. You could create a hole for them to escape. We just need reasons to want to be nice as for now its still kill or be killed. Again not always abad thing I just think the game could be so much more than a open world CoD.

I think we sort of misunderstood the central hive thing..
vladomir replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
Thanks Gibonez I was not sure how they really worked. So I guess I'm ok with molders being able to do their thing. I usually love mods in games I just thought people were hoping to use mods that would effect the main game. I guess I'm looking at this game kind of like other mmos I have played. Wouldn't make sense if mods were allowed in games like everquest. Although now that I think about it there was some good UI "mods" but I think they were mostly cosmetic. -
Shouldn't zombies also bleed to death eventually?
vladomir replied to sketch814's topic in General Discussion
Omg they are space zombies.... Now it all makes sense!!! -
I think we sort of misunderstood the central hive thing..
vladomir replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
I guess I still am not understanding. If a player goes to a modded server with only high end loot and then returns to a regular server they basically tweaked their guy in away others on the regular server can't without doing the same thing. So you could end up with a bunch of high end loot being passed around as people get looted then changing the type of play they are aiming for. If I am getting this right then I'm all for a restriction on loot. If a rare item isn't rare anymore then just let everyone pick the loot they want before starting and then why search for anything just go pvping CoD style. Next we will want character types like tank,healer,ranger... Might as well go play wow. I think they are making the game To be interesting and keep it different. Does everyone really want everything handed to you? Now as far as items you can't take with you to another server like cars and helos if a server wants to have tons of cars and lots of helos I wouldn't be against that. It can change play styles per server but does not effect others when you go to a regular server other than maybe give you a personal advantage by knowing how to fly better from practice. I hope to see a lot of vehicles to use but it sounds like the regular server hive you will have to find a crap load of parts just to get a car running....eh... Only to loose it to someone as soon as you get close. JMO -
[Day Z: Standalone] Controller Default Layout
vladomir replied to IncrediBurch's topic in General Discussion
I'm not trolling here I use a xbox pc controller a lot for any vehicles in lots of games but how in the hell do you guys aim with a controller. I just can't seem to be worth a damn. I'll have it sitting on desk and as soon as I jump into a car or helo I'll grab it and go from there. I find there is nothing better for that than the ol xbox controller. I hope they get cars and Helos in this game to be fun... Not sure having to scrounge parts to get one working only to loose it in a flash would be fun and cars should be all over the place so.... Sorry got a little off topic there. 8) -
This sounds like the best option or start with whole new install. Not like you have anything to loose anyway 8). Maybe report it to support see if they know anything that could cause that.. He is saying EVERYTIME soooo don't think they are wiping his toon 10 times in five minutes or however log it takes to retry. If they wipe your toon does it wipe your default character setup? I honestly don't know but seems like that would stay intact but again I dunno.
-
I don't have an issue with that... I could see having a guy that I was using with a group of RL friends and put him away when I was alone. Your friends log back in and there you are in blue jeans again and they are ready to do something else or maybe you all log out in the same area and two days later your all going to get back together so your all right there.. On the other hand even if you got your geared guy out and BANG. Your at the same spot on the beach anyway soooo I think just take your chances and like you said it's the point of the game. I understand how scary it can be starting over but it happens so much it kinda takes the fear out of it for me at least.

easy fix for server hopping: non-persistent character locations.
vladomir replied to thedryness's topic in Suggestions
I see your point but you don't to just hang out in the same area all the time anyway right? And hopping a server still puts you in the same spot and in the same predicament you are no closer to a new area then you were when you left the previous one. I have never wanted to stay in a area that long so I will travel but your right we need an auto run button 8). You can only search empty houses so long before you get bored with the game...I have never camped a high loot area and hopped since I still have not really found such an area yet. I think with loot respawn there will less reason to do any of that. Sometimes I find the server I have picked is laggy and I would like to find a smoother server and has nothing to do with loot so some of these ideas of only 3 servers kind sucks for me. My internet connection where I live isn't the greatest so finding a good one is sometimes not easy. Like many folks I have only one option for internet so I have to live with it. I personally would find server hopping to an area with lots of good loot would just make the game boring for me...too much loot is a lot like no loot at all...I would rather find stuff and make due with what I come across and hope for something better through searching besides I tend to die soooo no real point in gathering a bunch of good crap only to die and start hopping all over again. The real beauty of this game is people can do what they want...if someone finds that fun then w/e just like people who roleplay or kos or like to be a hero since there really is no character progression other than loot I look at these people who do it same as the people who buy already maxed out toons for other mmos because they just want to be bad azzes and not really play the game. It's their loss. I'm just as likely to be killed by a noob with a pistol as I am a hopper with some crazy loot. Maybe I have yet to run into people abusing this although I can see how it can be done. Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
vladomir replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I always looked at the spawning zombies as maybe some of them were laying down in the tall grass and get up to attack as they hear something. I have never seen a zombie laying down but it helps me justify them showing up. I myself would like them to be a bit slower and a lot more of them as long as the agro range is a lot less. Need to be able to stealth past them if you don't want to draw attention to yourself. I had one on me the other day and took great pleasure running him to another player and climbed a ladder. Kind of like the old EQ train!! Hah. I find it disappointing that there is so few of them. I know as things progress there should be more around so I just hope we can get to a larger number. At least then they can be a real threat and maybe more people will want to group up rather than kos. I'm not against kos at all just want it to be more about a zombie outbreak and less about random people killing others. Again not against the pvp aspect at all! As soon as it progresses more I will recommend to a few friend and maybe have some RL backup 8) -
These are all great stories. This is what drew me to this game. True open world where anything can happen. I met two guys rummaging through a small town one with a pistol and the other with a hacksaw. I had a shotgun but at the time I didn't know how to load it yet I had ammo but was literally my first gun. The guy with the pistol had it drawn the whole time and I soon realized they were RL friends. After one disappeared into a building the guy with the gun (not pointed at me) kept using the look key to turn twits me a few time like he was checking I was still there. A funny feeling came over me. The hacksaw guy wants my shotgun so I backed off and ran like hell. After hitting the tree line I thought I had better figure out how to load this thing and fast. I survived that encounter. While not a kill story it made me realize that death can be just around any corner if you are not aware. Maybe I was paranoid but anytime a guy won't holster his gun I feel a little uneasy.

I saved a guy who was on the ground with a zombie smacking him I was freshly spawned and had nothing. He was yelling help me help me. So I punched the zed off him but couldn't kill it. He dropped an axe so I picked it up and dispatched the zed. The guy had 2 broken legs and was bleeding so was I. He gave me some bandages which saved me but he was not going to make it with broken legs. After telling him I had not seen any wheelchairs around he asked me to put I'm out of him misery. I did it out of the kindness of my heart. I was planning on playing friendly but after getting shot in the head out of the blue I have determined to stay away from anyone I don't know. Kinda sad but can't trust anyone I like your way of thinking CJ

I would like to see a train run around the island slowly so you could jump on and travel but not player driven. You hear train coming so you run to catch it.
-
I like the idea... With all the coastal villages there is bound to be a fishing pole here and there...and a tackle box... Maybe spawn in some of the row boats you can find on the shores if not poles and boxes a hook or two would be nice in the boats.

choke holds, strangling and a hand over their mouth
vladomir replied to beansy's topic in Suggestions
Strangle hold to,just make them unconscious then steal what you want and take off.... Say 2 mins later they wake up all robbed and junk... Hah -
I don't know sounds kinda interesting. Just something happening a little different then well nothing going on in some of these cities/towns...I wouldn't mind seeing helo npc just flying over assessing the situation maybe pick off a zed or two but leave survivors alone. Fly into a town and hover slowly over a few buildings then fly off like they are looking for something. Or drop a box of supplies maybe you could find it and get some food. Other players may head toward it causing some interesting situations...not like you could carry all of its contents anyway so you take what you can then leave the rest for others. Maybe it disappears after 10 min or so.
-
Sounds great to me... I am really hoping the zombie threat becomes way more in the future updates. I mean lots more zombies and a horde aspect. To see them group together and run after you... Yeah that's the threat I want!!!! Maybe not quite like world war Z but ya make them THE threat in the game. With the new mesh system it shouldn't be an issue for them to follow similar paths it's just making them act as one.

Why we should embrace "R" to chamber. [Take your time to read please.]
vladomir replied to Pliskinki's topic in Suggestions
Nice video Tiggy... See the ammo belt... He's not looking through his back pack for his next round he has himself setup to survive. Which is how I would be in a zombie survival situation. The game should reflect this. I don't think that it should be an issue if everyone has a quicker reload it evens the playing field. If you have a multi shot rifle you still have an advantage over a single shot because he should still have to load it (animation) but not fumble for a round in some inventory window...it takes the immersion out of it for me. The not a lot of things to distract you on the screen is awesome but then..wham... Inventory window to find a round. Eh I could live without that break in the action. Makes single shot guns more used instead of throw it down once you find something that you don't have to load as much. -
suggestions about vehicles, conditions and a easy way to get a house
vladomir replied to pelusaloca's topic in Suggestions
Interesting house idea... I have an issue not with your post but with the direction loot is headed... How am I going to hold food ammo guns screwdrivers wrenches car parts etc... Rocket said in one of the roadmap videos (might have been an interview) that cars might need wheels and battery or alternator and other parts to get it to run again where the hell am I going to carry all this stuff...and then once I spend all this time scavenging these parts...bang... I'm dead and no car...so again kos seems to be the way to get a car. 8) sorry for the rant and maybe a little bit off your topic but your comment of screwdriver, lug wrench just got me thinking. Not against the idea but inventory must be able to handle this.. maybe I can grab a shopping cart from the near by Safeway and drag that around 8) I could grab used pop cans for extra cash too.... Heh -
How about unicycles hah! Carry them on your back till needed! J/K
