I hit 'Play' but remembered I last played on a really laggy server, so I paniced and hit 'esc' Then the game canceled the connect and took me back to the main menu. I could count the number of 'blockbuster' full release games that do this... Let's count... 0. +1 would recommend.

OK, This helped me to figure it out. (starting from main menu) 1st - Open 'Configure' 2nd - Open 'Video' 3rd - Open 'User Interface' 4th - Select your proper aspect ratio. ('Aspect Ratio') 5th - Select your native screen resolution. ('Resolution') 6th - Hit close to take you back to 'Video' 7th - Choose an option from the 'Rendering Resolution' (I choose the same as my native resolution) 8th - Restart the game, it should take the proper resolution now. custom, resolution

Perhaps you can enlighten the more stupid zombie fodder (me) with how exactly you went about doing this?

I find it silly to spend an hour+ looking for my bud and wife... Therefor, I kill myself to save 10/30 mins. Another option would be to choose your spawn? Of maybe a dozen choices, then all the good spawns will be hot-zones and it leaves some cold areas to meet / startup with your friends? Just saying, if a zombie outbreak occured I would be with my wife; why would we be an hour away from eachother? My friend I could see..
