Are you sure about this? I'm fairly certain you need them to cook meat. Though you don't need a stone just to make a fire to get warm by. -
Love it when I'm running across an open field and hear a fence move from what sounds like 3 meters away. =P

They could add a camo tent option and make it so they don't even render at a certain distance less than the default for other objects. That way you would almost have to be right on top of it to see it.

Sorry if this has been posted already. For purely aesthetic reasons I would like a less (for lack of a better word) silly looking bleeding animation. It just looks like red puff balls falling out of your pockets when you run. It also looks extra silly when you are bleeding from a bout 2 feet away from your head/arm/butt, ...whatever. I'm not familiar with the engine and it's capabilities in this regard but I HAVE to believe it could be better implemented.

Damage models need major tweaking for sure. It's just that the silly bleeding takes me out of the emersion every single time. I'm sure it's near the bottom of the list for things they want to change. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Sure, why not. My only issue will be if they make them act like the zeds currently do. Which I'm really hoping the also change. -

See, they key word you used there was "close". i have no doubt a bear would attack you if you were too close. But if it uses the same mechanic as the zombies where they see you and charge you from 500+ meters away then it would just be stupid. And yes, I think I understand it is a video game. One that strives to be a survival simulator that focuses on as much realism as it can in a fictitious situation. So adding rabid blood thirsty animals just to have something else to attack you is lame and the opposite of immersive. -

In regards to hitting zeds I have found that 3rd person view is MUCH easier. 1st person or hardcore made me feel like an axe wielding chimpanzee on bath salts. Actually I would probably hit better if I were. =P -

Except the bears aren't starving. If anything they are eating well. There are deer, cows, pigs, rabbits etc all roaming free in the fields. And why do you think you NEVER find any freakin' berries on the bushes? Seriously though, in real life any time anyone sees a bear in the wild you really only ever see their butt for a reason. Bears will pretty much never run across an open field to attack a person unless they feel their young are in danger. They know we aren't on the menu unless they sneak up on you while you are sleeping in your tent and forget to hang your food in a tree. If they have every bear and every wolf immediately charge you from a half kilometer away it will just be stupid, annoying and unrealistic. -
Versteckter In game name is currently Vert. Addicted to DayZ. Been playing for a few weeks now. Got four friends (and likely more on the way) also addicted. Our "clan tag" if you want to call it that is [OMG] for Old Men Gaming. We are all a but of 40 somethings with families that play games when we can. Our motto is, "The Best at Being the Worst". Meaning we are eternal newbs, though we do sometimes have our moments of glory. =P We are overall friendly in game though we have had a few,... misunderstandings. In general KOS is not how we want to play. Anyway, we're loving DayZ. Cheers.

in reality this makes zero sense. Bears and other wild animals stay clear of humans. The only time they attack is when you surprise them and you are too close. Otherwise they see you or smell you a mile away and leave the area. If they make the "hostile" animals act like zombies and sprint at you from across an open field it will not only be unrealistic it will be REALLy frickin' annoying. -
Agreed. I don't understand how a zombie, or rather an infected person, has the power to destroy a leather jacket by slapping it a couple times. Same with military vests. And show me one person on this planet that can damage a 357 magnum by hitting it with their hands. =P So yeah, it needs work. But this to me is much less important than many other things in the game. All in due time.

Like I said, I don't mind a challenge. But perhaps a better solution would be to spawn players where there aren't zombies to jump on you the instant you respawn. Right now it's like playing a flight sim that starts you off flying straight at the ground at 300 km/hour with about 1km to try to pull out of it. =P -
This all happened within the first half hour. Was in Hardcore so hitting zeds was a pain in the butt. But was fun. =)

Was okay. Nothing really special. A good string of garages but we didn't find any good loot that time around. Basically we just had a bunch of rounds we wanted to go through so we hit the closest town and opened fire.

Attracting them was the fun part.
