Versteckter In game name is currently Vert. Addicted to DayZ. Been playing for a few weeks now. Got four friends (and likely more on the way) also addicted. Our "clan tag" if you want to call it that is [OMG] for Old Men Gaming. We are all a but of 40 somethings with families that play games when we can. Our motto is, "The Best at Being the Worst". Meaning we are eternal newbs, though we do sometimes have our moments of glory. =P We are overall friendly in game though we have had a few,... misunderstandings. In general KOS is not how we want to play. Anyway, we're loving DayZ. Cheers.

So whats every one gonna build/fortify when all that gets added?

in reality this makes zero sense. Bears and other wild animals stay clear of humans. The only time they attack is when you surprise them and you are too close. Otherwise they see you or smell you a mile away and leave the area. If they make the "hostile" animals act like zombies and sprint at you from across an open field it will not only be unrealistic it will be REALLy frickin' annoying. -
Agreed. I don't understand how a zombie, or rather an infected person, has the power to destroy a leather jacket by slapping it a couple times. Same with military vests. And show me one person on this planet that can damage a 357 magnum by hitting it with their hands. =P So yeah, it needs work. But this to me is much less important than many other things in the game. All in due time.

Well, people did ask for more zombies

Like I said, I don't mind a challenge. But perhaps a better solution would be to spawn players where there aren't zombies to jump on you the instant you respawn. Right now it's like playing a flight sim that starts you off flying straight at the ground at 300 km/hour with about 1km to try to pull out of it. =P -
This all happened within the first half hour. Was in Hardcore so hitting zeds was a pain in the butt. But was fun. =)

Was okay. Nothing really special. A good string of garages but we didn't find any good loot that time around. Basically we just had a bunch of rounds we wanted to go through so we hit the closest town and opened fire.

Attracting them was the fun part.

Has nothing to do with how much ammo you have or can get. The issue is that the instant you spawn you have zombies on you. You bleed twice, bandage twice using your shirt and then get attacked again, and again, and again. Three friends, same story every time they spawned which for that night was almost 10 times each before they gave up. I like a challenge but I really don't want to spend my evening respawning over and over. I know it's alpha and I know it will be completely different in a few months let alone when it finally is released. I still love the game and I'm just voicing my opinion on the current state. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Versteckter replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
The problem is really with new spawns. If you haven't tried it then you don't know. Yeah, I played and killed every zombie with one shot too. I had a gun. But when you have nothing and get bled twice in a row and use up your shirt for rags and you get attacked again immediately you are screwed. I have also noticed that hardcore/first person is MUCH harder to hit with melee weapons like the axe. I later tried in third person view and it wasn't that hard. But new spawn is still an issue that I think needs addressing. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Have you actually tried playing as a new spawn since patch? Have you tried hitting them with your axe? Do those things and then tell me they aren't a threat. Two buddies last night were new spawns. They didn't last more than five minutes without bleeding out from getting insta-smacked by zeds. They started as new spawns and quit the game as new spawns and never made it out of the areas they spawned in. Another friend and I only survived going into town because we had guns and ammo and yet we still had to retreat to the woods because of all the zombie respawns insta-agroing from 400 meters away, over the hills and behind houses. Went through all of my bandages from a full first aid kit and a couple splints. Like I said in another post, I like most of where they are going with it but perhaps making melee work should have been a priority over making zombies next to impossible to kill in melee. I fully understand it's Alpha. I still love the game and I have faith in the devs. My main issue with your comment is that zombie ARE a big threat now. Mainly because of the melee mechanics. -

I don't mind MORE zombies at all. It just seems like the melee hit registration is WAY off. I had to swing my axe like a madman just to connect once. And I know most of my swings were dead on. That's what was frustrating me more than anything. Had a blast when we finally opened fire and started the shitstorm of zombies in town, though we did have to eventually sprint for the trees. The insta-agro is just wrong as well. The other problem my friends were having is that new spawn is almost impossible now. As soon as you spawn you are being attacked and you can't hit back with any amount of success. If you don't have a weapon instantly you are screwed. That to me is a game breaker. You should at least have a CHANCE when you start over.
