Now that was fun: Been with 2 friends at Balota airfield (now featuring no tents - I've cried like 10 minutes), searching the buildings. Went up the tower, when suddenly one of my friend screamed. He told us immediately that his arm was broken, he's leaking like a BP oilplatform and has fallen unconscious. Two seconds later he was dead. I turned around, and saw something veeeery funny and irritating: An axe, 10 inches above the ground. It rose to 50 inches above the ground, then "turned" towards me and approached slowly... I was screaming "CHEATER!" - and we got off that f*cking airfield in 10 seconds flat. Can we please, please, please, pretty-please-with-sugar-on-top-drizzled-with-honey-and-sprinkles get rid of those bloody kiddies? BattleEye obviously isn't up to the task : (

So a little AKM update: I've played every day since the patch came out, 2 to 3 hours each session. I've found AKM's to be as rare as M4's before the patch - but not as rare as not finding one in every session. Already gave away 3 of them to frustrated players coming from the NW airfield, complaining about not finding one. I really don't know if it's just luck or people not searching properly... Sway issues: Yep, it's a bug. Try the following: Get a M4 with ACOG, lower your FOV to the very minimum, and aim. Hold your breath - and it's dead on. Absolutely stable, sways only a few millimeters. Get a Mosin-Nagant, put a PU scope on it - sways like a Jenga tower in an earthquake. Even worse with a LRS. The sway is catastrophic (and realistic) when you ran some distance prior to aiming, but even in a rested state it's far to shaky. The AKM is the worst of them all. While looking badass, it sways like you're sitting in a rocking chair. Put the appropriate scope on it, and you are as deadly as a guinea pig throwing cotton balls. Close quarter combat (< 50m) is barely okay, but hitting targets over a 100 meters away is pure luck. The AKM is supposed to have an effective range of 400 meters standard; with a scope it should be up to 1000 meters. Right now it's 50 meters, with the scope being useless apart from posing as the poor mans binoculars. While an AKM is in no way an accurate gun compared to the other available options in this game, 1 out of 3 bullets should hit a target at 200 meters, causing almost immediate unconsciousness from shock. Right now it causes laughter and the death of its user. Edit / PS: In experimental the AKM was awesome - the sway bug is present in stable branch only.

I don't know where you are playing, but I've come across at least 3 police stations within the last 2 hours, and every single one had a Mosin Nagant - the last one even two, plus a SKS. Even found a LRS in a police station (that's the first I've found there). Been to the NW airfield yesterday - found 2 LRS, a lot of P0-scopes, etc. I'm going to regret this, but... Ah, what the hell: Look inside those burned out rusted army jeeps (trunk and front right). Chances are high to loot a Mosin, a SKS or even a scope. And don't just try one - there are plenty. Same goes for the...watchacallthem... Daihatsus? While spawning primarily backpacks and food, there's like a 30% chance that there will be a Mosin or SKS. Perhaps you just have the particularly bad luck of looting 3 minutes behind a guy like me: Whenever I find a weapon I don't need, I pick it up and throw it in the grass. No point in getting shot in the back : )

So here's a screenshot, taken not 30 minutes ago --> Love it. Not as good as the M4 though. But it should get the job done - and it looks a lot more bandit-ish than a tricked out American military rifle. This one was lying around Zelenogorsk military base in one of the baracks on a bunk bed. The mag I looted from one of the tents up at the NW airfield. But my 2 cents: This is Chernarus, a former soviet republic with 5 major military installations, a slew of army jeeps and trucks, police stations, etc. To get an AKM I had to travel far to many miles (in order): - Svetlovjarsk --> Novo - Novo --> Chernaya Polana - Chernaya Polana --> NE airfield - NE airfield --> NW airfield - NW airfield --> Dichina military base - Dichina military base --> Zelenogorsk military base Stunning as it may seem, I've come across 2 helicopter crash sites (each spawning 3 pistols, M4 mags and attachments, attachments for the AKM) as well. Guess what I did not find? A M4. None. Nada. Zip. This can't be intentional - someone screwed up. Words of wisdom at the end of this post: If someone approaches you with tricked out gear and generally looks like he could be John f***ing Rambo, do you REALLY think he wants to kill you when he puts his weapon DOWN? He wants to chat, maybe help you. Even give you a gun should you need one. You'd be wise to put your dinky Sporter down and listen. It's frustrating trying to be a decent human being when people put their guns barrels into your nose, already driveling for the chance to get a bloody green backpack -.-
