Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
KiskilleAcronym replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
No, I feel bad for buying dayz and wasting 23 euro (My feeling for now) Cause there are just some fundamental issues with the game that are almost impossible to fix. Now that Rocket left Bohemia, that really was the cherry on top of the cake... -
Things you regret doing

Gave a guy a revolver who I thought was very friendly because I was talking like 15 minutes to him before that. As soon as I turned around I've got a bullet permanently stuck in my head. Talk about trust issues : P -
Dean Hall on Vehicles and Barricading
KiskilleAcronym replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Yes... This is the answer to all problems. Imagine... You are looking for a vehicle (ANY VEHICLE) for you and your friends. 1 hour >> nothing found 2 hours >> nothing found 4 hours >> still nothing and finally on the 6th hour you find it. Drive around in it and get shot in the head 2 minutes later. How would you feel. Same with trolls. A bandit troll finds a helicopter takes the parts and hides them somewhere in the woods and shoots the rest of the helicopter. BOOM now we have 1 less helicopter for people to enjoy having. And this is the true problem of the system. We made the diagnosis now devs have to cure it for everyone to have a fun game that EVERYONE can enjoy equally. -
Dean Hall on Vehicles and Barricading
KiskilleAcronym replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Listen to what Dean Hall has to say about vehicles... (The topic starts at 0:52) http://youtu.be/dFgkbXul3K4 -The idea to achieve vehicle parts through "server hopping" is very bad and very unrealistic. -Mod was a LOT MORE realistic in this particular matter. Cause when in your right mind will you want to go to a server to find a part with a very big chance of getting killed, and in the end if you survive go back to the 1st server where you left the vehicle welcome to everyone to steal for the time of your absence. Now you find yourself driving and a freshspawn comes out of nowhere and just KOS-s you right as you drive past him. -I wish they do the vehicles just like in mod. Simple and fun. But of course the developers have to complicate cause they are not watching it from the players perspective. WHY??? -I don't think players have the time or patience to do this bull****. -And in the end not everyone has a clan to go grab parts FROM ONE SERVER TO ANOTHER. This is very dementing and frustrating cause when will a lone-wolf be able to get parts for himself then? All the statements indicate how bad actually the idea is. Devs are just focusing on adding things THEY think are good, but they are not listening to the community. They guys who pay them. They should make vehicle parts more like it was in mod. Go around scattering until you gathered all the right ingredients. I think a lot of you will agree with me on this one. -
Would you like to see a snow zone and a radiation zone?
KiskilleAcronym replied to HEV's topic in Suggestions
You know what I would really like to see. Real time seasons. I know it's a bit too much but imagine it. When it's winter season IRL servers have winter Cheranus. Snow, ice, etc. Summer - Less rain, more sun, higher temperatures, etc. And yes some mountains that have permanent snow cause of altitude. But it's something to think about. -
In my opinion totally useless and takes up spawn points for real useful items. But that's just me... (Can't you just play your songs in youtube or mp3?)

Sound was broken since the release of alpha. Hope they won't carry it all the way to beta : P
-
Maybe in a later future they will add something called "private servers" that are not connected to the hive and to the global economy. Items you find on that server stay on that particular server. Agreed. No DayZ without vehicles. There are light vehicles going to be implemented like ATVs and bicycles that are easy to maintain, but they lack speed. Other vehicles are military and civilian motor.
-
Yes, there is no real DayZ without vehicles.
-
Nope, cars you find will be broken. Then you have to run to 1 town to find parts, if you find no parts in that town, on to the next one...

A temporary rage stopper. Increase fall required to die.
KiskilleAcronym replied to KiskilleAcronym's topic in Suggestions
If you can die from a 4m fall, you need some exercise my brother. If the characters in DayZ can sprint over 10000m while carrying a fire axe, an AKM, cooking pot... with only heavy breathing then a 4m fall should be a big problem for them. -

Most death I experienced in DayZ come from crappy physics if there even are any in the game and if you can call them physics. So while in alpha and while on this engine (I hope not forever) please decrease the fall damage because it's not normal to get your leg broken OR killed from a fall of 4 meters. This is a simple code edit fix. -
+1 for carrying players If 1 leg is broken and you apply a splint to it, character should limp. Only 1 day after should it be like completely new to avoid time wasting but to add interesting new stuff. Morphine = Immediate fix Maybe if your leg got broken they should add an adrenaline rush feature where in the first 5 mins of a leg being broken it doesn't affect your running, but only aiming through pain. After those 5 mins player should collapse to floor and not be able to run without morphine or splint.

I hope there will be support for user mods (like a mod that increases max num of vehicles and vehicle spawn points and spawn chance) so we don't have to deal with crap like limited car parts, running and trying to find them.
