Incorrect. Day Z can run with Arma II Free. Just copy the "addons" folder from Arma II Free into Operation Arrowhead's folder. Run OA as Combined Ops. OT: There could be any number of reasons why the updater isn't working for you. Screenshots of the problem would be helpful. Anyway, you could always do a manual installation, which would likely be easier than fixing the problem with the updater.

If they combined this with the old "carry/drag injured" feature from Arma, this could be VERY interesting...

The "." and "," buttons cycle through which channel your chat is displayed on. You'll want to use Side Channel in-game, as it stands out in a nice blue colour rather than Global which appears in white and gets ignored due to looking a lot like the server info messages. Question about buying arma and using
Azba replied to TheRealAchilles's topic in New Player Discussion
Yes you can. Follow the installation guide, attention given to "mixed copy". http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_install_DayZ If that doesn't work out (i.e. you get errors about missing files when joining servers) then copy the "addons" folder from your Arma 2 folder and paste it into Operation Arrowhead's folder. -
You'll need far more buttons than those available on the xbox controller in order to play Day Z effectively. Also, aiming will be... less than helpful.

I've lost 2000 blood and broken my legs whilst climbing up a ladder with a friend. Go figure. Anyway, yeah the fall damage is a bit odd. Seems to be a certain distance threshold under which you'll land safely without damage, and over which you'll collapse, break your legs and pass out for a while.

I have a problem when using my inventory!
Azba replied to Dylan9889's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I've had this problem a couple of times. Seems to be related to the steam overlay. Pressing Shift+Tab to open the steam overlay seems to mess with the game, forcing it to think you're mashing the right arrow key or something, which cancels any right-click actions. Double tapping the Tab button seemed to fix it. To check if you have this problem, opening the ESC menu should result in all the options flashing in order due to being rapidly scrolled through. -
Being catapulted into the air is one of the "fun" anti-hacking punishments that've been programmed in. Quite possibly you were on a bad server, or something on your end triggered the response.

20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
Azba replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES But also why not shivers or the player making "unsettled" noises which increase in response to humanity/proximity? Blurring? -
1. ARMA 2: CO is $30 USD on Steam, $32 USD on BI online store. 2. Strictly speaking, you need Combined Ops (that's ARMA II + Operation Arrowhead). Not strictly speaking, you can buy Operation Arrowhead by itself for $20 and download the demo of ARMA II (ARMA II Free), combine them and save yourself $10. 3. See above. You'll need the Day Z files of course. 4. Steam, Bohemia Interactive store, Amazon... they've got a list on the arma website.

I'll have to agree with others here. Rifles are primarily anti-player weaponry. Shooting zombies from a distance is a waste of ammo - if you're already a safe distance away from them then there's no need to shoot them in the first place. The scopes on rifles can also be useful for zooming in on things from a distance (though not quite as good as binoculars iirc) and scouting out loot/players before they see you first. In a pinch, rifles are one-hit-kills against zombies if you get mobbed anyway, but in that situation you'd be better off with a full-auto weapon. They're especially useful against newly spawned dudes with nothing to lose who start blasting at you with their makarovs from the get go. One shot will usually down them. Also useful for those people who shoot out your legs whilst you're fleeing from zombies, provided you can get a bead on them in time for delicious revenge.

1. I am reasonably certain heli-crashes are randomly spawned and stay until server reset. 2. I have heard this too, but it was only true for the green ones iirc which would turn you into a boar or fire you 500km into the air etc. Not sure if it's been addressed, but I have heard no complaints about them in-game. Ever. 3. Wander about open fields (carefully). I believe they have set spawn locations, but don't always spawn in the same places upon server startup.

Hmm... well if you're on steam I remember there being an issue with the steam copy not installing the latest version of BattleEye when you install the game. If this is the problem, you'd have to go to the BattleEye website, download the latest one (I believe it's a .dll file) and then paste it into the old BattleEye folder in your Operation Arrowhead directory, replacing the old one. http://www.battleye.com/download.html Also iirc new versions of Arma II beta patches take a while before registering with BattleEye, meaning that it gives false cheat responses or somesuch and proceeds to kick you out. If this is the issue, then that means you'll just have to wait a bit.

Dumb question. How do you go to third person?

Uh... I think your post slipped in from a different thread :/
