That's a pretty hilarious bug.

Well I almost just had my first kill on a 'friendly server', but I decided to trust the guy instead. I was on the top roof of the elektro power plant, eating and checking the map on my phone. I saw him running toward me a while back and told him I had eyes on him. He said he was friendly, we discussed trading some stuff and he had a couple of clips for my M1911 pistol. After asking each other over and over if we were trust worthy, I decided to go down to meet him in the firestation warehouse thing. He dropped the clips on the floor, and as I picked them up he pulled out his mosin and shot me in the head. Then I could hear 3-4 people laughing over direct comms. I was so p****d off, that was my first real encounter on this game and I lost so much stuff. I had the higher ground, his head in the sights of my mosin and should have told him to go or die. Lesson learned.

The can opening is an ambient noise which shouldn't be. I hear it all the time. I still go on full alert when I hear it though, just in case. I also hear zombie grunts as ambient noises too. I was running to elektro the other day on my own and heard it the whole way. I even stopped for a couple of minutes to see if one was chasing me. Nothing. Heard it right until I logged out in the fields by Ctapoe.

It really does. I haven't even killed anyone yet, and I always have my mic on so I can speak before I shoot, but I'd hate to lose all the cool stuff I've found. Since the update the z's seem a lot easier to kill, so all there is to look out for now is the other people.

Not killed anyone yet :D I'm a friendly player, but I haven't met anyone properly to be friendly to yet! I saw 2 people running through elektro, I tried to chat but they didn't respond. I let them get on with it, I was more geared than them and they weren't interested in me at all. I was shot on my first life about 2 hours in. I had a scoped mosin but had just used all my ammo in svet fighting off about 10 zombies. I headed south, running in the tree lines. I got shot in the head and died instantly. Being KOS sucks.

I get 35-45 in cities and about 45-50 in the forests.

3 hours is nothing in DayZ. I'm on my 4th life now and really enjoy it. Yes it can be hours and hours before you see someone else, but you have to be ready for encounters all the time which for me keeps it interesting. I haven't seen anyone else for quite a while but I've had to kill a ton of zombies and I've looted some great stuff. I'll now make my way to Polana where I hope to find some other people, which means I'll probably die :D

Cheers Mos1ey, should I perhaps have gone for the 3.0ghz dual core?

I might stand corrected, but I believe that would help as your GFX 'card' doesn't have it's own memory, it uses your laptops system memory.

Hi all, got dayz from steam a couple of days ago. Waiting for my new gaming laptop to arrive now (I really don't want a desktop). I've spent a few hours playing it on a crappy laptop on lowest settings, found myself a crowbar and a rucksack but not seen another player yet. It looks like great fun if you play with friends, so I'm looking forward to getting into it.
