    Barbed Wire Getting Annoying

As well as far enough in front of an outside door that you can still get in. I don't mind them when I know someone is using them to funnel targets.

    Why did you shoot me.

This is a military simulator engine running a zombie simulator mod. Not a military game on a zombie game mod. Therefore real world tactics apply. This is an apocalypse. You should be treating the zombies as a threat and the players as a high priority threat. In a real world zombie apocalypse you would not shout friendly, don't shoot. Why? because the world is full of arseholes who would kill you because that's one more mouth to feed if they group up with you at the very least, and if they let you go they don't know if you will find a weapon and stalk them. Look at the walking dead at that bar scene. That is how 99 pct of ppl will be in a real apocalypse. If you are dying over and over you know EXACTLY how long you'd survive in a real apocalypse. Yes, I know that this is a game, but that doesn't change the fact that it is set up for a real life situation like this. You have to treat your one life as if it is your one life in real life. So, on that note, here are some tactics that I use to survive in DayZ against players. 1- NEVER announce/reveal your position 2- ALWAYS assume the other player is an enemy unless you know them irl 3- Let players pass without them noticing you if at all possible. Why get yourself into a crappy situation when you could avoid it. 4- Even when you do group up with a random always assume if you are point you are a hostage. Even if you have a weapon. 5- If being shot do not waste time lying down, crouch running, crying over the mic or chat. JUST RUN!!!! Zig zag, get cover, GTFO!!!!!! My personal feeling on the pking in dayz, is without it, the mod would never get my heart pounding. The zeds are too easy to ditch, they don't scare me at all. But I see a player my heart immediately starts beating faster. He comes my way and it's like I'm actually there. The adrenalin kicks in, I start shaking from excitement/nerves, it's by far the most intense feeling I've had in a video game since my first nuke in MW2. Because I know he could end my run with one bullet.

    Barbed Wire Getting Annoying

Got rid of my first barbed wire with the tool kit yesterday. The zombies were closing in on me and my cousin. He was frantically keeping an eye on the zeds while I waved my head around desperately trying to find the remove icon. I actually shouted for joy when I sucessfully found the icon. It was at the top of one of the "sticks" on the barbed wire.

    BIS gaining from this mod

To put into perspective how many copies they sold on steam, the BIS/valve contract of download codes ran out! They literally couldn't sell the game anymore because they were out of codes for a few days, so BIS and valve had to get a new contract going!!! From what I have heared, Rocket is an old BIS dev of some sort, and after making this mod, BIS came to him and said, polish it, make it good and it'll be in three. With the success of sales giving ARMA 2 a second life, I think it would only be smart that they include DAYZ in the core of the game. At the same time though, idk how many of the ppl who joined just for dayz would play the rest of arma 3, so it may be even more worth while for BIS to split arma 3 and dayz into two seperate games using the same engine. I'd buy both. I bought arma 2 about a year ago and played it pretty consistently, but then DayZ came along and it sucked me in. Haven't touched vanilla arma in a few weeks now.

    So I found a Remington

Question. Have you ever played Arma 2 before Dayz? aka do you know how the hit detection in this game works. If not, there's your problem.

    Kinda annoying me now.

How new are you op? I can run in between cities with zombies up my poop chute, and ditch them inside a building without being hit. Get yourself a map, dayzmap.info for example. Use that to find non populated loot areas and go there. Do some overwatch on the city to make sure you are alone before going in. Go to farms for rifles. Hatchets suck monkeys. And zombies do not aggro at random, if you have played for more than a week you should know how to work the zeds. I can crouch walk right through a group in the open without aggroing them.

    Rocket Disciplined for 1.7.1

Canuck here. I would happen to agree (Honestly, I go out in the winter slightly more than the summer. Too hot out....) Back to topic. Was Rocket reprimanded for 1.7.1? Hell no. He learned his lesson. More balancing before releasing. There is a difference. One requires someone telling you how to do things, the other involves learning from your mistakes. Sure, the community was up in arms, but when aren't they? Gamers are like the religious fanatics of the internet. I, myself feel privileged to be a part of these "Bad" patches. Why? Because you get to see how they work to fix them. You get to be a part of the community as it grows. You get to be the ultra-hipster, "I was there before beta". You get to see it all change, grow and come together. It's like watching a sky scraper being built. You get to see it start from scratch and build up and up and up. :D

    Dog house loot bugged?

Same as OP. Found a full mak floating in the air. tried for 5 min to get it, but couldn't get it. 90 pct of the time I find they don't have anything in them. Also, they float 7-9 feet in the air. This one, the dog house was on the left side of the fence, but the mak was on the opposite side of the fence, with a zed lying behind the fence as well. So one could assume that the dog houses up against buildings ARE spawning loot, but it's 8 feet up and "inside" the building..... Oh well. I just ignore them anyway.

    Sniper Wars - the Lulz

Couldn't have said it better myself. Like the guy's signature on here. Do NOT get attached to your stuff. You will lose it, you will die. It may be due to person, zombie or glitch, but you WILL lose your stuff/life. Personally, I spent the first 4 weeks of playing this game sneaking around Bereznio. Only been to the NWAF twice, and when I go there it's to find a group or person, and follow them to their tent city. (no success so far :P)

    DayZ Stories

Kinda playing a bandit atm, 2 guys were in the barracks. One came out. Killed him, then zombies aggro'd me, so I sprinted away. Apparently the guy's buddy snuck out to his friend and hid the body on me, preventing me from stealing anything, then him and his buddy logged out.... I have to give that guy credit. That was a good plan to make sure I killed someone for nothing.

    DayZ Stories

Stupid move of the day So, Me and my cousin find a bus. "Hey lets cruise down to Elektro" Cut to Elektro, fly thru, honking like mad. Make it to the outskirts, see a dude, running, getting chased. I... well, I honked, tried to get the zeds to aggro us... I looked back to see the dude, as well as the zeds staring at awe at our awesome bus. *BAM* Concrete barrier pops bus's tire off.... "BAIL BAIL BAIL!!!!" We run to the industrial area, to scavenge a tire, seeing as we have no spare parts. LUCK HAS BLESSED US!!!!! *Starts bus* Nothing to see here *Leaves*

    Gameplay tips

I haven't read all three pages, but my addition to the list is; Find a steep hill crest, semi smooth one side, quite steep other side of crest. Run up it, get them behind you then run down the hill. Make sure you don't catch air going off the edge. If done right, the zombies should go flying through the air behind you, crash to the ground and die. Because they run so much faster than you do. I have only done this once, and I was not really trying to do this or test my theory. But I went over the edge, and the two zombies were lying on the ground. I was bleeding and empty inventory due to fresh spawn. (Mad dash to a barn gone wrong) With a shout of joy I discovered the one zombie had a bandage for me!!!!! WOO

1.7.1 in 20 words or less

Well, 20 words may not be enough. But I started playing Day Z yesterday on the 1.7.0 patch. Then that night 1.7.1 comes out, I hop on that, and the first area I was in (Rog) Now has 12 zombies in it. 6 of which are right inside the tall castle...... Oh god..... Then... A player kills me hahaha. Spawn with nothing... Woot! It's sneaky sneaky time! But if I had to choose, 1.7.0 > 1.7.1
