[1.7.1.5] Why I'm not happy and waiting for the next patch/version...
Psemtex posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry everyone but I'm very frustrated at the moment and just need to vent. I understand (hope) that most of my issues will be resolved in the next patch and am not likely to play again until then. I have been really enjoying this mod. I enjoy being part of it and contributing toward it's development. However, since 1.7.1.5 my enjoyment has decreased considerably. I really like the new features such as starting with next to nothing, Infected are now a real threat again, the ability to lose infected chasing you and then they will try and 'sniff' you out. While I applaud this, I just can't get over how much they can detect you through some obstacles. You have no real way to tell if you'll be safe behind this wall or that wall and, unless you're prepared to crawl absolutely everywhere, all of the time (I also tend to play on 'Veteran' servers), whilst in towns, you're always going to be detected. A lot of the original immersion has been lost, in my opinion, as you start getting attack for apparently no reason while it's also easy to do a stupid run through elektro, have an infected train following you, lose them all in a big building and crawl on ... to be eaten by another one behind a wall somewhere. I find that I don't care about my character as much any more and my average survival time has decreased from around 2 days to a couple of hours. I don't think I'm playing "bad" but obviously not "good" enough to know the exact tricks to almost beat the code/engine rather than beat the "game" -

@DryGulch This is not a bug & exploiting tool or is a gameplay suggestion box. We have https://dev-heaven.net/projects/dayz for that. This is a forum where members of a community can talk to each other about everything to do with that community. Not once did I suggest that anyone should do anything about my frustrations or that I'm completely throwing my toys out of my pram. And yes, all opinions are feedback in some shape or form. It's about how you use it, if you choose to. Moaning can be healthy by the way, especially if the alternative is punching walls... -

I only did it as I'm currently frustrated (not as much now) and I needed to put the thoughts that are going on in my head into words. Almost "exorcising" them from my mind. I think that's a healthier and more constructive way of venting than punching my wall. Others may have similar feelings and may wish to do the same. That is the only reason. It is not done with any intention that someone would read it and go "oh shit' date=' one person on the internet isn't happy with stuff so let's fix it quick" ... I am not that naive. I appreciate that the Dev team is currently working on 1.7.2 and it'll be released when they are ready. What I fail to understand about myself is how everyone else seems to be getting on with this version and why I seem to fail so bad... I'm a pretty patient guy and have spent hours crawling around to get some decent kit. EDIT: Also I knew that I would generate this to some degree. I appreciate that it is at alpha stage, what that means and how it fits into the software development process. Still doesn't mean that I can't be frustrated by a particular part of this particular version and provide some, potentially, constructive "feedback" -
I have no problem with placement of permanent fortifications. It makes sense. I also have no problem with taking down the fortifications myself. My problem is the "meta-gaming" side of it where you can enter a building, barricade it up so that not even you can get out of it, grabbing the loot and hopping to the next server, appearing in the same place ... rinse and repeat through some trans-server teleportation... In my opinion, that's bordering on cheating just like quitting to avoid death. Yes it's possible to do it in game, doesn't mean it should be done however.
