Mod is still better than the SA

Yes I agree, the inventory system is alot better, also alot more buldings to go into, but at the moment it's all about clothes and gear and weapons and KOS, no survival element at all, and the zombies are non existant, rarely see them and when I do they useally spawn out of nowhere 3 meters from my character. So I think BI should throw us a bone soon and really put all the other development aside and get the zombies right first. Then concentrate on gear, diseases and more cities after that is in place. That would atleast give us a feeling of apocalypse and a challenge and not just a PVP KOS-fest, where everyone is geared up in 15 minutes..Looting is just too easy because there isn't a single zombie around in most towns, and when there is, there useally just are 3-4 of them in bigger cities if your lucky, and you can just fist fight your way out of that situation...You can just run around everywhere without having to fear nothing but other players. If SA had zombies like the mod, that would keep me occupied atleast for another year and I couldn't care less about a new hat, new jacket, cars or new cities and small stuff like that. It's more like a clothing simulator at the moment than a zombie/survival sim...

Mod is still better than the SA

I perfectly understand the OP. Im starting too grow a little impatient myself and think the development process is way to slow. I know the team is small and all, but with 2mill copies prepaid they should hire more people and speed up things ASAP before everyone starts to loose intrest and by the time the game is finished only a few hardcore players would be left and and there would be alot of empty servers... Atleast give us challenging zombies and concentrate on clothing and other stuff when we have some challenge in the game. I just want more zombies like in the mod and the AI from the mod where you could use sneaky tactics to avoid being detected by them. Why not use the zombies from the Mod as placeholders until they have rewritten the SA zombies?

Mod is still better than the SA

There are still some good servers left, but your right, they are only populated a certain times of day so it's alot harder to find a good challenging server these days that has people playing. What happend to all the 'hardcore' dayz mod players? Are they vanished, because in SA there also seems that 'regular' servers are most populated and it's almost impossible to find 'hardcore' servers with nightime that is populated....Everyone seems to like the arcadish 3rd person view servers these days:(

Mod is still better than the SA

Well that depends entirely on wich server you choose.... In it's current state the mod is 100x more chalenging because the zombies are much more a threat.. But Im sure SA will be alot better than the mod when it is finished. There's alot of things that's already much better in SA than the Mod. I just wish they could prioritize the zombies so we can get hordes ASAP so SA becomes more challenging, right now the players are the threat, the zombies are harmless. I have been playing the Mod lately because it's just more fun and challenging than SA. SA at the moment is just like, gear up in 15 minutes and then go kill other players....I know alot of people that have gone back to the mod just for the same reasons. I still play SA occasianally to test out new stuff they add, but the mod is what I play most these days.

Are you kidding, the best PVP type play happens at night.... :D

    Seeing at night

Well maybe you should have phrased yourself better because, "Man, another bug I didnt' know about. I may have to use that one" sure sounds like you would use it for abuse if it was possible... But I actually think you miunderstood how the bug works,,,and I misunderstood what you ment:p. It's like this, you turn on your flashlight you can see the person infront of you, but he's got the bug where he can't see your flashlight so for that person you would be impossible to see but you see him just as it should be...So you could(im not saying you would) just use your flashlight but there isn't any garauntee that everyones got the bug, most people will see your flashlight:p. Offcourse if you have a friend with you, you will know if one of you got the bug, so you could use that to 'cheat' knowing that one of you is invisible to other players even with he's flaslight on...Im not saying you cheat, but that one sentence made me think you would "use that one" too your own advantage:p Sorry for misunderstanding you

The Woes of a Long Survival

When you have reached a point where it's to easy to survive in the mod, why didnt' you start to play on Namalsk, the xtreme version with earthquakes, bloodsuckers and freezing cold, where you would have to make campfires all the time just to stay alive and also take cover in houses when the earthquake sets in? That would have given you more challenge.

    Seeing at night

Hmm, have yet not expirienced being killed at night, but had a few close ones and Im not using the gamma trick either, just makes the graphics look like crap and ruins the immersion. I do the opposite, I turn the gamma settings down a little just to make things even darker. Have been killed plenty of times in daylight... Somehow I feel more safe in the cover of darkness, even if I know there are a few gamma cheaters out there, but have yet to encounter them... I have had alot of fun sneaking up on people around campfires and eavesdropped on their conversations without even killing them and sometimes made contact and chatted alittle, and then moved on into the darkness. Only times I encountered people try to kill me is when I use the flashlight or set up a campfire.. About banging in a wall you cant see, that's what you got the flaslight for, being able to 'see' in the dark:p They way I put up with gamma cheaters is just 'pretend' they have night vision googles like people had in the mod. So there was always a chance to bee seen in darkness using the mod too, that extra risk even makes it more scary... So just move about just as you would in daylight, avoid open spaces as much as possible and be sneaky. Nothing feels more rewarding than being able to see the sunrise and be glad you just survived another night in the apocalypse:D.

I agree if that's the only thing they could do and also let them remove the aimdot that's it. I don't want them to be able to have higher loot, 1000+ vehicles and sidechat and being able to spawn all the gear they want just to rule the server and make SA into what the mod become...

If you had payed attention I have changed my view on the whole matter and come up with another suggestion on hardcore servers, it may contradict what I said earlier but I think its a good idea or maybe not(only my subtle opinion). I have always liked how Arma engines have made nights, so more realistic than any other engine where you can see everything like you have some invisible night vision googles on. Walking around in darkness without seing shit without a flashlight I find more immersive than any other game out there that has night in it where you wouldn't even need a flaslight, and it's creepy and scary. Also if one doesn't play at nightime you loose all the cool light effects(wich I think arma engines do better than most other games out there), also the creepyness night add to the game, and the mad screaming axe killers lurking in the dark woods just waiting for you to turn on the flashlight or light up a campfire. It also makes zombies more dangerous if you do not have head-lights or a friend lighting up the zombie while you kill it.. It's tense, it's dark and I love it:). Too bad we are so few hardcore night players. Just turn on more brightness and gamma if it feels to dark, heck you can turn the settings so you see everything if you prefer, just please join us and come kill me at night. I would appriciate it:)

Well, the fragmentation gonna happen sooner or later when private hives and modding gets into the equation and that's gonna be alot worse than having just 3 options or max 4(if you wanna split regular). So for the first time in this thread I actually agree with you to some extent. I hope we never get private hives and letting server admins get too much power, but I do think the playerbase is big enough to sustain the 4 server options without any problems. Having only public hive and no sidechat and no high loot servers is one of the things I like in SA compared to the Mod. But lets just agree to disagree, nobody is probably listening to my suggestion anyway and it is what it is, I'll guess just have to live with the 'texters' and mutes. Lol, are you reffering too what I said? If so, it's not about forcing you too do shit, If you don't wanna talk thats fine. What I would like to see removed(as and option and not by force) is people being able to text. I won't repeat why, you can read all my post in this thread. With my suggestion you would still be able to join a text/voice server for whatever reason you may think of(deaf, dont have mic, broken mic, lack of social skills, social angsiaty, authistic, asberger, schizophrenic or that you just hate the idea of having voice only servers:)...).
  12. Kaboki

    Make mics a requirement.

We have paper and pen in the game and some gestures so they could use it like they would in a real apocalypse, write a note and wave in a friendly way, or they could just join the 'text/voice' option and play with booth deaf and non deaf players as much as they like(there won't be a segragation beetwen no deaf players and deaf people because theres always someone who prefer not to use mics). And I and others who think texting people from a far distance is immersion breaking, and also think using text allows people too "talk" without worry having their location revealed would be happy. Why make it into a 'war' for nothing, everyone would find a server that has what they need,,,reallly what is the problem here?
  13. Kaboki

    Make mics a requirement.

Hahaha tought so, maybe you also could end up dead, because I KOS anyone that doesn't respond to me on voice quickly in that scenario:). Often in scenarios like that it could be a win win situation for booth parties involved to be able to walk outta there alive with good loot;) But I totally agree on, not forcing anyone to have a mic to play the game at all, that would be cruel. But make it an option(1 more hardcore server category, real hardcore) so people that don't want to see immersive breaking texting on servers and are more into using what you would be using in real life, your voice. Wether you use it or not that entirely up to you. You could still play on that server just not be able to text or you could play on a normal hardcore server where booth texting and voice is an option along with the other mute people. If my real hardcore suggestion would ever be invented. They could play on servers that allow them to use text/and voice and choose not to play on servers with voice only. Having more options, but not too many would be good for all type of players and everyone would be happy, well almost everyone.

So you have never had anyone spawn 5 meters away from at you in a hotzone?, if so you probably just KOS'ed the guy and that's fine, but some people don't like to kill if they don't have too, then the mic can be very useful. I've played Dayz SA only 100' hours and using mic have saved me alot of times....offcouse I could just KOS without comminicate first...but it just aint my way of RP. Also saved me in the MOD, don't even know how many hours I have spent in it.... So it may not work for you, but so far it have worked fine for me. Im also a lone wolf sometimes and only observe players from distance, but even a lone wolf gets lonely sometimes and just wanna be social and have a short chat with a fellow survivor and the risk of doing that is just thrilling. Sometimes I also play as bandit and it's just more immersive yelling at the guy you rob/kidnap and hear he's prays for mercy...if that guy doesn't speak and is typing text I just kill him right away, because he's ruining my immersion so I just switch and roleplay an asshole against such individuals(Sorry to all you mute/deaf people and those that can't 'afford mics', nothing personal)
  15. Kaboki

    Make mics a requirement.

Well if we have three main categories it would serve everyone. Everyone can play on regular servers and they seem to be the most popular anyway(so we wouldn't loose players). I also think only seperate 'hardcore servers' into 2 categories would be enough and satisfy most peoples needs(one with text/voice and one without text and only voice ' remove the aimdot, it would not force anyone to get a mic or headtracker). The way you suggest would divide people way too much, just like what happend in the mod where there was simply to many options and finding a server you like was hard because it would only have 2-3 players on most of them, in short I hope private hives doesn't become an option. To many people would just choose the 'easy' way and only play on servers that have 200' vehicles and high loot. Been back into the mod lately and sadly almost no ones play hardcore anymore. And nooooo, don't reintroduce sidechat, never make that a server option again, we have these neat 'walkie talkies' now and they are way cooler than people typing shit in sidechat, and occasionally some turd alwasy seems to love farting into the mic and ruin the immersion on the servers, and it's like when one first start it spreads like an infection and lasts for minutes. Increase the range a little more on the walkies instead, having sidechat would also make people never use the walkies and they would stay as a gimmick forever. Please take alot of control of what servers are allowed too and don't go back to the way it was in the mod.

Well, I have another suggestion. Why not remove texchat only on 'hardcore servers' and while your at it, remove the stupid aimdot on these servers and let all 'us' hardcore players really play 'hardcore'... So can the people without mics, trackir and mutes/deaf play on regular server... Or better, separate the servers into 3 categories where you keep 'regular' and 'hardcore' as they are and call my new suggestion 'Real Hardcore'. Problem solved..

    Seeing at night

How do you use it? The bug just happen randomly, so you would never know if the player your approuching doesn't see your flashlight..... unless he's your friend and you communicate. And BTW, just because there's are alot off hacks, bugs and stuff doesn't mean we have to 'cheat' because some people do. I never exploit wall gliching, gamma or any other hacks. Doesn't get killed to often either and I like to think 'most' people play fair and they do. Script kiddies will always be there and thank god not everyone is cheating just because they can.... Also, many times people claim to be killed by hackers using aimbot, but really they sucked and just met a better skilled player...My friend is really skilled with weapons in Arma engines and always gets blamed for using aimbot. And I played the Arma 2 Dayz MOD, Life MOD alot and I rarelay come by any hackers so the problem isn't as big as some people want it too be...In dayz SA I have never encountered hackers. In GTA5 Online I see them every time I play..

Yeah, I have seen this bug when playing with a friend too, could also explain OP's question... Ah, that explains it, thanks for the info :)

    Make mics a requirement.

Fair enough, point taken.. You're right, it wouldn't solve all KOS'ing. But, lets say I didn't have a mic, that would make me less likely to communicate before I kill(if I kill), because starting to type on the keyboard when in visible contact to a player most likely would get me killed. So I would KOS just because I would be more on the edge. When I talk to a player, I often have got myself out of situations just by using my voice to manipulate that player into thinking it's not worth it. E.g I could convince him to beleive that I have friends watching over me in the hills or something. With only me being able to text diplomacy would not be an option because before in finish texting I could be dead already. So maybe, just maybe theres a slightly chance that others feel the same as me and the day they can afford a mic they just might use other tactics than KOS. But offcourse KOS'ing would never stop, hell, I don't want it to stop. In a real apocalypse I think you will meet just as many KOS'ers, it's not like rapists, nechrophiles, murderers, serial killers would cease to exist when the world turns, In fact it would be heaven for such people that enjoy killing because theres no law and police to enforce them. I like the diversety in dayz just like in real life. If everyone was a hero and all we did was singing combaya to eachother and praise the lord then it would be really boring. If you use more sneaky tactics you'll almost never get KOS'ed. Avoid open areas as much as possible and you'll be fine. Search out sniper positions before entering aiports etc etc.

Maybe he shoot you by listening to your footsteps to tell the direction and then took a shoot in the dark and got lucky:p. Or maybe he used brightness and gamma cheating...you'll never know....Since he took 3 or 4 rounds too kill you I suspect your footsteps revealed your position.. Speaking of night, what happend to the night in exp? Haven't seen darkness for a week. Night is also hard to find on stable, atleast servers with people on it. I want to play at night on loaded servers but most servers seems to run daytime and people also seem to like to play only at daytime, why can't all servers have night and days, and why does everyone only play at day. Right now the most popular ones seem to reset to daylight as soon as the night sets in....sorry for my hijack/rant...just miss lurking in the darkness :( .

Where did I insult anyone in this thread?, except my first 2 posts on this forum about zombies a few days back...In anger and frustration I basicly told everyone go to hell including a forum mod, that didn't even get me a warning :P(which it should). Because I was basicly a dickhead that wouldn't listen to suggestions that i realised later was actually very useful... C'mon, how is calling a teamspeaker a pussy offencive, it's the thruth, they use it to get advantage over "us" direct chatters, and that is being pussies no matter how we look at it. Maybe I should use the word "cheater" instead, the same but maybe less offencive...
  22. Kaboki

    Make mics a requirement.

Yes, and alot of people play that way and I have nothing against that, but it would be cooler if you guys used direct and survived in a much more realistic way than just be unrealistic muted bandits using teamspeak to talk like you guys have some magic ingame telepathic device.... I also play this too survive, but I like it too be as realistic as possible... I also would like to see people using the Walkie Talkies alot more, we have gotten this very cool feature and nobody uses it because almost everyone are teamspeak pussies afraid to get killed in a video game..
  23. Kaboki

    Make mics a requirement.

It's talking to other players without knowing if their friendly or not that makes this game exciting, also using direct chat with friends instead of teamspeak just adds even more tension because you never know who is listening and you have to communicate tactically instead of just talk random bs with friends on teamspeak without fear of being heard...pussies. So if you can manage to get your friends on direct instead of the higly unrealistic teamspeak, you will get 100X more immersion out of this game....I know this because I used skype in the past talking to friends, it took away alot of the excitement compared too using direct, so we all agreed only to use it to join up(when the Walkie Talkie gets better range we would drop skype completly, it would also make evrything more thrilling because we never know if someone is listening and preparing and ambush on the location we decide to meet). And 90% is exagerrated, my expirience says it's a 50% chance that the player you meet is friendly, and if he's not, how fun isn't it to get kidnapped and robbed, feed rotting fruit or other abuses, you won't always be killed on sight and some bandits even let you leave after they taken all your gear. If you have not encountered being taken hostage and getting a burlap sack over your head, your missing out alot of cool things about the game. It's not all about getting geared up and then go out finding people to kill... I had an thrilling moment oneday at hardcore server in the middle of the night. I was in the woods far away from towns and tought that it would be safe to use the flashlight, after 1 minute with ligh on I suddenly heard a creepy scream coming towards me, I pointed my flashlight in that direction and I see a mad axe killer coming out of the dark wood running towards me, he scared the crap outa me. I instantly turned of the flaslight and runned like hell with a really high pulse. I managed to get away in the dark:p Imagine the same scenario where the player would "type" the scream, that would be so dull compared to the creepy scream this player used against me(also I would not know where the scream came from, wich saved me in this situation). I find texting boring, higly unrealistic and also it gives texters an unfair advantage not having to reveal their hiding spot when communecating.

Ah, ok, didn't know that players muted by someone else is also muted for everyone...Why is that, the sidechat is gone, what's the reason for muting players for everyone? I misunderstood, I thought he talked about "muted players" that had been muted by someone else or admin...sorry. Oh and yeah I understand that some players are mute in real life, so I adjusted my thoughts on the matter, and suggested another solution, make texting players heard that would take away the advantage of texting instead of talking...
