People don't know when it's time to give up.

Right. So that they can run in dressed as clowns to KoS him for the lulz then to run off to go find a bambi victim. You're missing the point.

Thanks, but I tried all that. There are no ways of admins controlling what kind of players join the server. A massive issue with standalone that I severely hope they will fix despite all the whining of the SoS-freaks. (it's SoS, not KoS, since they Shoot on Sight but often enough get killed themselves in the process)

I just murdered and looted someone very close to me.....

Probably not, since all you do (moving around, firing) is also not repeated by the clone. He just stands there looking lost. -

I'm not going to say in public how I caused it (I think I know pretty much exactly how this happens) but yes, I was roughly 30 seconds, maybe a minute into the game. -

Wait a minute. You actually registered to post this ??? Well I'm sorry to say that I logged in alive not only with my gear but with the gear I looted from my clone. -

We'll see about that, stay tuned for more info. It would be interesting to see if I do respawn as fresh-spawn. Because in that case, the issue needs to be resolved bad. If I had left my clone behind and someone else killed him, the same outcome would have resulted. Darwin award? I should be getting the Nobel prize for research here! EDIT: I have killed my clones before on previous versions, and nothing happened. All I got back then, however, was a t-shirt to tear to rags. -
I've heard this kind of talk so often, and the fact that you put "hero" in brackets says all about your style of play... And what game do you play exactly, it's obviously not DayZ. Nobody spends hours hanging around a castle in order to declare it to a safe-zone unless they're makin a video for youtube. And if they did it would take 20 minutes for the first band of trolls to go up and shoot everyone going in and out. Oh isn't DayZ just funny funny funny! I'm totally for a safe-zone, but of a different kind. But I ask in advance to please spare me "what Dean already said". Thank you. This would require the implementation of currency, (gold and silver coin and bullion maybe) and also NPCs. I'm talking about a small town with maybe 10-20 medium difficulty NPCs that are generally friendly but wary. The first shot that is fired in or into town gets their attention and a warning and the first PvE or PvP hit inside town gets them hostile. The few merchants in town do not offer anything for sale except stuff that is readily available in game, such as badly damaged clothes, water and food. Weapons, meds and ammo trade only take place between players. Yak all you want, this idea is awesome. The DayZ sandbox argument fails because the majority of players are just lame, uncreative, boring as hell and more often than not simply trolls, and there is (and apparently never will be) no way of admins controlling who they want in their server or not. NPCs would create a troll-free zone (well at least you'd have to overrun the town with a larger group in order to stand a chance at trolling the players or stand outside lying in wait) that would actually create an enjoyable atmosphere between players within this zone. Making it possible to actually seek a friendly player experience when one feels like it instead of leaving it to that 0.01% chance. . .

I disagree. I'm all for quests and NPCs, since your "role-playing" and "negotiating face to face" has one severe flaw: trolls. BTW: your quest is lame. EDIT: corrected a mistake

I'm not an expert. But back in my programming days ( a looong time ago) we learnt about this thing I think they called "plausibility checks". Stuff like that the system would check where you were one second ago and then verifiy if it made sense that you were at the point you're at now. Pray forgive me if I'm being silly, but this is programmable, no?

Couldn't find a more suitable topic than this one, so here it is: Today while overlooking Svetlo, two full-gears blew up the gas station with their hacked mags of infinity +1 (hooow original yawn) over and over again. At one point they came running out of the ruins (like they'd just showed up there. Really weird) in my direction at about 450 meters. One of the guys was glitching in such an awkward way, I've never seen it before. It was as if he was hovering on the ground, his legs not moving (his buddy was moving in a normal fashion though). All the time while he was hovering around at sprint speed, he was doing something weird with his arms, like brushing off his shoulders, kind of like the movement you make when you put your rifle in your hands, but continuously. (I took a shot at him btw but then hauled my ass out of there, not knowing what other super-powers he had) I swear it was like he was using some kind of macro. I made a video of it but don't have a youtube account as of yet. Anybody ever seen anything like this?

But Black Lake is possibly the most beautiful lake to go fishing. People have no appreciation left for anything beautiful.

Yesterday my server restarted a little earlier than expected... and I was standing in the middle of some rails in Svetlo. I joined today to find myself being bashed from multiple directions by zombies. Needless to say, I wasn't able to defend myself and some gear got ruined. Since sometimes the logging in process seems to take longer than other times, I find it is necessary to make the player invisible towards zombies only until loading has fully taken place and / or the player has made his first move (meaning people who spam "z" when entering a server are at a distinct disadvantage. You are not always able to log out safely in a barn since sometimes the game crashes or servers reset without notice.

No, the internet is. There's a hive of trolls somewhere, they are about to take over the world, I swear it!!

Suggestion: zombies don't attack when spawning in
ColonelBurton replied to ColonelBurton's topic in Suggestions
Yes, well that's what I thought. But you really need a 0-player server. Because DayZ has some sort of "Murphy's Law Algorithm" going on. I just joined a server with only one player. No respawn timer, but it took a while. Then I saw when I spawned in through the walls somebody was looting the top floor I was on........ No way of logging out anymore I was already loading the game.. Man I can't tell you how damn upset I was. Luckily the guy took his sweet time looking at the loot behind the stairs and I was able to grab my SKS in time. The rest is actually more on topic in the KoS thread. WHen the guy cam in, I told him to "STAY COOL MY FRIEND!". He only had a pickaxe but started dodging from one bunk-bed to the other without replying, indicating he was planning on giving me the jump. When he came at me (I was between the two parallel beds against the wall) - I blasted him. So what do we take from this? In a map that is roughly 12 x 13 km large, you aren't safe logging in to a server with one other player in it. EDIT: Just remembered that I once died along with a mate and we both went our separate ways in the pitch dark gearing up the basics (since we spawned at different places and both had no idea where we were). As I was slowly getting my bearings, a guy ran across my road and I yelled at him for help and that I needed a can opener. Turned out it was my buddy. This game is crazy!! -

Just got kicked from my server because obviously the admins want to be alone in raiding their airfield. Wanted to respawn immediately in another server (they password secured theirs) and got the 99 second timer. A 99 second timer right in the middle of a cammo building because some admins want to find an AKM. They really need to fix this!!! -
Then, he decides to do the only thing any decent person would do in this situation. He pulls out his spade or whatever. Then he spends some time digging a deep hole where he places the body of the unfortunatey man. Although he doesn't know whether to believe in God in a world gone to shit like this one has, he thinks it only right so say a little prayer or whatever. Suddenly another player wearing nothing but underwear and a pilot helmet bursts out the bushes unloading 10 SKS shots into the lonely survivor. Whatever.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
ColonelBurton replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Well, not necessarily. It could be that a survivor already found the gun and took the mag or clip but ditched the weapon since it was in worse condition than his own. The thing is, what's unrealistic is that this is the only state in which you find the guns. As you said, it should also be possible to find one with full, empty, or half-empty mag or clip. Or an expent assault rifle with several empty clips lying around, for example. -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
ColonelBurton replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
There ought to be a few modern military weapons that can be found in the game since some of the other military gear lying around is from foreign armies (olive tactical shirt, UK assault vest, M4) and suggests involvement before everything went to shit. I think there should be at least one bullpup AR in the game when it is developed. My personal fav would be the TAVOR M-21 but that is such a rare gun not even the IDF issues it all too commonly. I suppose the devs will go for the SA80 british standard issue rifle though what I heard that gun is not too reliable, and that a lot of people in the British armyhate the thing. Seems like it's another half-baked piece of military hardware like the german G36 that is said to overheat after less than 100 rounds continuous fire causing it to lose accuracy on a massive level. Is the Steyr AUG a reliable weapon? If so, I'm totally for it. Let's have some Austrian UN troops go to Chernarus to evacuate the survivors of the plague =o) EDIT: Wow, my brain overloads sometimes. I meant to say "a lot of people in the British forces hate the SA80 and the British MoD has come under scrutiny for making it standard issue" -

The point of my post was not that we need more melee weapons (I think the ones that exist are sufficient) but a better melee system -

Deer Stands - What Do You Want To Spawn There?
ColonelBurton replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
It would make more sense for deer to spawn occasionally at the feeding stands, though I doubt they'd continue coming if these are not replenished regularly. -
Suggestion: zombies don't attack when spawning in
ColonelBurton replied to ColonelBurton's topic in Suggestions
Are you 100% sure about that?? Because yes, that is scary. -
The thing is in DayZ they are not undead, but normal people that suffer from a disease or parasite that alters the metabolism and the behaviour. Similar to the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis fungus I suppose. This means that when they are severely injured, this leads to hypovolemia and the heart stopping as would be the case with any other healthy person. What I would like to see though, is that when you knocked them properly on the head twice with a baseball-bat, they need a little longer to get their bearings than the first time.
