I agree to a certain sense. The devs need constructive criticism. The fanbois have nothing constructive to add, so they might as well not waste anybody's time on the forum or bugtracker. -

Again: try to search for a "Vilayer" server. Meaning enter the word vilayer in your server filter. Worked for me every single time. Has nothing to do with that. On my video you can also see I have no breath, meaning the outer temperature is around or above body temperature. FIX is the right word. Because if carrying a box of matches, a pair of handcuffs, a key, a knife and a hacksaw uses as much inventory space as a six-pack of beer, then I'd prefer to keep the inventory system the way it is. Meaning I need to find ways of carrying around as much stuff as I would carry in a real-life scenario. I know I repeat myself on this issue, but depending on what you're carrying, some smaller backpacks have the actual carrying capacity of a woman's handbag. -
A bunch of ruined crap? EDIT: Oh wait. Took me a while.

Concerning the current temperature issues, here's a hilarious bug report Fireplace from hell drops temperature to 1 Kelvin, killing 4 players http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=17412 EDIT HAHA indeed, they should call the next one "coldfix" -
It surprises me how many people SoS although they suck at shooting.

Another weird comment I can't make heads of tails of. As far as I know (and I just tested it out a few minutes ago to confirm) the gas stove does squat to warm me up I just sat in a closed gatehouse with the thing directly under my chest and under my butt and it did absolutely nothing. -
A look at one of the new zombie models
ColonelBurton replied to haknslash's topic in General Discussion
I've heard this "after a SHTF scenario we all have to lose our morals or die" mantra sooo many times and it is simply crap. A society collapses within its' own decadence and is reborn within a new set of core values, simple as that. Meaning if you want to rebuild, you need to rebuild structure within a society. Then, the lawless gangs are swiftly put out of their misery by groups of organized individuals. It has been this way since the dawn of mankind. Over and over again. Speaking of having reached a certain level of decadence, just because there "would be" rapists and murderers of women and children as well as cannibals in such a world, does that really necessarily mean that we need game mechanics like cannibalism, rape and infanticide in an already violent and lawless video-game? I clearly voice the opinion that we do not. And I also support the argument that such a game will simply be banned in many Western countries. EDIT: I would explicitly request mods NOT to delete this comment. If necessary, I will move it to an own discussion board. But it is important to me to make this point! (a similar posting of mine has already been deleted... although it has often been shown that this type of discussion is a necessity on this board!!) -

This is exactly the type of nonsense on this board that makes me want to cry tears of laughter about how little some people know about the outdoors. Do some research about what troops went through in the World Wars. Many spent weeks in wet trenches with no fire but just a cup of piss-warm coffee that was brought to them every few days. Even in a winter's night you don't necessarily NEED a fire to not die of exposure. It is sufficient to be dressed warm and be well covered with a blanket and preferrably have some kind of isolation from the ground. I'm not saying you won't get disease or trench foot from this lifestyle in the long run, but you will not suffer this type of thing within minutes or even hours. -
Being friendly at Veresnik = Dumb! The Betrayal
ColonelBurton replied to therunningmanz's topic in Gallery
HAHA that's happened to me on two occasions as well. Oh well can always get geared up anew ^^ Just died while hiding under Vybor bridge. Was there waiting for some nudists to show up to give some of my excess gear and two full-gears showed up and killed me. How on earth they got a visual is beyond me. I was right under the bridge crouched in a bush in full camo. -

You might have wanted to keep an eye on him leaving the building. Figure you would have seen him get in position to ambush you. Then you could have asked him what exactly it is he's waiting for at that corner ^^ -

ColonelBurton replied to ColonelBurton's topic in General Discussion
This is exactly how I felt when I got food poisoning from eating burnt steak. But pretty much ... every... single... addition and change to the game implies that the developers had no idea of what it's like to live out in the wild. And that bewilders me, since I heard that Dean Hall had climbed up Everest.... The worst part is that when you point out that these things are hopelessly unbalanced, you are attacked by people who, more often than not, hide their age that imply that you have no idea about the harsh reality of being out in the rain on a cold day for fifteen minutes. It's mind-blowing. -

This is true. But if you look at how few items actually go into a backpack, you know why people are resorting to this ridiculous inception-style exploit. I do it all the time because I refuse to accept that my character carries about as much stuff with him as a woman can fit into her purse. To make it clear what I mean: I can easily pack a real-life school briefcase full with items that correspond to an ingame mountain backpack if I pack all sorts of important survival items in it I have a real-life mountain back-pack that fits as much gear as four ingame mountain back-packs. And I think you'd be surprised, quite a large number of American preppers easily pack 150 rounds of ammo in their get-out-of-dodge-bag. Seeing as many yanks are pretty reliant on their guns and ammo when it comes to SHTF -

Nobody in a real-life survival scenario carries wood around with themselves. Only tinder and kindling maybe. There's plenty of firewood lying around in the forest, just not in DayZ. In DayZ, you chop down trees and they magically spawn firewood -.- -

****BREAKING**** Reporter "dreagon948" reported that only Vilayer servers work fine as concern the weather effects. I just joined a vilayer server and at least in this one instance, it is correct. Please test this out and give feedback (filter your server list for "vilayer") Thanks! EDIT: I just tried out several Vilayer servers and never once got this issue. Weird. -
[Virtual Tour] Myshkino Military Outpost

You sure it's a military camp? I've been there and I'm pretty sure it's just an internment camp for the infected... except there's no infected there. But also no military hardware either ^^ -

Nice sunny day you have there. Still pretty extreme that your temperature drops by one degree per 10 minutes, don't you think? Apart from that, where it says "I am cooling off" my game always tells me "I am promptly cooling off" And as soon as you do a sidestep, it says "I am slowly warming up" when my game says "I am cooling off" when I sprint! So it must be server related in some way. -
For Chrissake calm down, I know that you're talking about something else. I only posted the video for people that don't know the glitch and not "to prove" anything. I have spent plenty of time in Svetlo mountain sniping at zombies and bandits and I know how freakin' hard it is. And yes, it sucks that you can't lean your gun on anything or that being prone gives you zero extra stability. This type of swaying around motion that makes you have to time your shot is something you should only have when shooting while standing up straight and not while being prone or crouched in front of a barrier.

I didn't notice any performance improvement or drop. Roughly 15 players on server just now. No loot. Died within 15 minutes from starvation. Would have moved ahead more slowly had I not constantly been freezing to death, which forced me to run the entire way. What I'm trying to say is that I experienced the unbalanced temperature mechanic on this server just now as well. -
Temperature effects are broken since hotfix
ColonelBurton replied to ColonelBurton's topic in General Discussion
Well, I've found a server that is hellbent on killing me, went out and observed the time lapse. 5:6 - for every five minutes that pass in real-life, six minutes pass on the server according to my observation I really spent 5 minutes running around and wasn't able to warm myself up again. I sort went from cold to not cold back to cold back to not cold. The moment I stood still for a second to catch my breath, I immediately "promptly" started cooling off again. EDIT: Not a drop of rain this time -
The problem is that sometimes, people misunderstand each other. No need to get nasty in such cases. Sometimes, I've seen obvious trolls. If all of the people who are interested in actually making DayZ a great game just put the people on our ignore lists that are obviously either trolls or mentally not capable of discussing improvement, the overall quality of this forum will steadily improve and the dim bulbs will start going out completely. In the end, the people who all in all only want DayZ to be nothing else than "a really hard game" are going to be in for a disappointment. Because DayZ, if it remains as unplayable as some things are, will not make it past Alpha phase whether these people like it or not. Hard should mean "challenging" and not "ridiculous" BTT: I'd still like to point out for all people who don't know it, that this glitch still exists Bug report: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=16496

You sort of have a point there, but though on the one hand, there has to be some kind of balance between gameplay and realism, on the other hand WHY MAKE IT HARDER THAN IT IS IN REAL LIFE! What kind of game would we have if it were realistic in that sense? Think about it. Let's say you were to get shot by a wall-trolling jerk but unloaded on him and killed him, after taking a shot to the chest. Now one of your team-mates is around and spends 60 minutes IN-GAME applying a suturing kit and replenishing your blood pressure with the help of an IV-kit. He then drags you to a hospital (taking 120 in-game minutes to do so) and then leaves you there. You literally log on to DayZ EVERY DAY for the next 30 days just to have the game running so that your character heals. Meanwhile, your buddy logs in EVERY DAY just to stand next to you to guard you. Nobody in their right mind would play such a game. Now to top it all off, imagine how many people would play this game if it weren't just realistic, but 10 times more hardcore than in real life. This is what the temperature system is like on some servers now. It isn't realistic, it isn't playable, it is simply b-r-o-k-e-n -
He wants DayZ to be a game where you play a short-sighted, brittle-bone-diseased epileptic with lung cancer who can't hit anything at all with the few bits of ammo that you find, where zombies are omniscient and omnipotent, where you spawn naked in a -180°C environment with massive, infected gashes all over your body in the middle of a minefield, reducing your average lifespan to three minutes. Now THAT would make the game hard! And why would we want DayZ to be any different?
