It does I found some TTSKO pants in the Vybor military base in the barracks, I also found some of the gorka pants in a police station. So it appears that clothing is now correctly spawning in other locations. Speaking of Vybor military base, I noticed and insane amount of saline bags (one barracks had like 7 bags), so I guess they are the new "hospital" if you are shopping for saline. I noticed thing starting to get a bit more hostile out there lately. Last night I was engaged on three different occasions (lived thru them all) and finally I went berserker in Zele when some guy I was offering food to decided to pull a .9mm and try to kill me. He found his single loading (no mag) was inferior to be sawed off shotgun, after that I basically went thru the town looking for more people to take my anger out upon. So if you were on one of the SE 3pp servers in Zele last night and died to a crazy man stalking around with a shot gun, sorry ;) I tend to be a lot more friendly upon EXP than stable but I had enough last night and the guy ruined a vest I had just found!

For point blank in their face CQB, the sawed off every day of the week. Yet outside of that point blank range, the SMG starts to gain in strength. Honestly, I am more comfortable using a 74U for CQB, just wish it could mount a red-dot sight...

Now that the Mosin no longer takes any kind of long range scope, it has become a second tier weapon. That AK74 will be off much greater value, having the same range and better CQB value.

How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?
Briljin replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
All you have to do is look at the population of 1pp to 3pp servers to see. If "the majority" of players wanted to play in 1pp only mode then the 1pp servers would be flooded and the 3pp servers would be empty, yet it is the opposite. So clearly the 300'ish votes is not indicative of "the majority". -
Yeah, learned that the hard way. I found a tent the other night and quickly went to finding a secluded spot to stash some extra gear only to find out a few minutes later when the server restarted that tents are pointless...

I wouldn't rage about it but I would just quit playing and move on to another game. I have enjoyed my time playing Dayz, so would still feel I got my moneys worth and just move on to another game. -
Discussion about weapon slots on your back
Briljin replied to Zyryanoff's topic in General Discussion
Try and remember that in real life, putting something in a back pack isn't the only way to carry items. Weapon can be slung over a shoulder or left to free hang with a combat sling, with some rope and duct tape you could create a make shift sling for that axe (not to mention a machete tend to have their own sheaths for carrying them around). Yes the current system is not realistic but not just not in the way you think. -
I am always a little shocked when I go from Arma 3 Epoch to Dayz. The FPS is so much better in Arma 3, even with graphics cranked up. Hopefully the optimization will come soon and make a large improvement, I have certain areas I just try and avoid because I know they are an FPS hell hole...

Bullets don't go through walls, why do zombie attacks?
Briljin replied to DesertSage's topic in General Discussion
I just recently starting messing around with Arma 3 Epoch and that took me by surprise. It makes you think a little hard about that flimsy picket fence one would normally hide behind. -
They can, they just have to pay for a PRIVATE server. Otherwise their public server is open to anyone who wants to join it. Thus are the rules, people either play by them of get the fuck out.

I am really liking the changes to northern part of the map. Now it's not just some long abandoned road and train track. Several decent size towns and a dotting of smaller villages, makes for great out of the lay looking.

Just in the last several patches they have added hunting, fishing, farming and now cannibalism. Even if they made these harder, there are still enough options (plus canned and fresh food) that food generally isn't going to be that difficult to gain. Sure right now these mechanics are a little too easy but then who the hell eats and entire deer and then is hungry a few hours later? Both systems are unrealistic and will probably be changed together. Because in a game were resources are slim, there will always been the "risk vs reward" debate. If the reward from killing the other player for their resources is worth the risk, some people will do it. And your situation is cute, because you assume the absolute worst possible outcome. The attacker could just as easily shot the target in the head, leaving all the gear in untouched and taken no damage. See, I just did exactly what you did but I took it to the other far extreme.

You have to remember that you are talking about two completely different settings. Today's world would look nothing like an apocalyptic and yet people are still committing violent crimes every day, now imagine what it would be like with resources stretch and a non existent police force or legal system. And you shouldn't be looking at homicides but violent crimes, because the numbers would be much higher if you removed the current day medical system we have (which won't exist in an apocalypse). We are just lucky that in Dayz treating knife and bullet would requires a rag and a couple cans of peaches.

Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!
Briljin replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
I still use a mosin and routinely make shots of 500+ meters. Once I stopped running every I went, sway became less of an issue. Now I jog between location and only sprint to cross danger areas or break contact, you should also often make and apply splints to deal with the phantom fracture issue. I was never a big mosin guy but now a days I love it (probably more so thanks to the AK74u for CQB). A 101 with the PSO is another solid option, not the same range but still really good and now you can suppress it :) -
If Dayz is all about PvE, why is every square inch of the map PvP enabled? Dayz is not all about PvP nor PvE, it is about SURVIVAL. Which will entail aspects of both play styles to one extent or another, if I wanted a pure PvP game, Dayz wouldn't be a my first choice. Just like if I wanted a pure PvE game, it still wouldn't be my first choice. I enjoy it because it uses both elements and each are being improved every update.

People kill one another every day for reasons completely unrelated to "political power struggles". In a world were resources are limited and the dead are walking around trying to kill eat you, there will be thus that view other survivors as a threat to their own survival. Either as competition for the limited resources or due to them having something they need. When pushed to the brink humans can be very noble and very evil beings.

You guys need to give up this masochist dream game you are constantly going on about. They are constantly adding in more food sources and as long as one can collect rain water, dehydration will never be a problem. Yes we need more zeds, they are supposed to be a big part of the game landscape but you are fooling yourself if you think PvP is going to take a step decline due to environmental issues. If anything as the world because more difficult to survive in, the potential gains from killing another player grow.

Tell that to the military barracks buildings with thousands of items stuffed away in them... So my point was if they had that fixed and wanted to counter the effects of these bugged loot piles, sure do a wipe and remove the hundreds of AKs now cached out in the world.
-
I wouldn't say it "does nothing". If they fix duping or the bugged loot piles on persistent servers and want to clear everything out to destroy cached loot stores then it's fine. Yet doing it just to do it, then I agree.
-
Unless they are actually going to fix the persistent looting system, not sure why they would even bother. Yeah they fixed duping last time and then reset but they totally f'ed up the persistent looting as well.
-
The entire movement system. I want to actually be able to jump/climb over things and being able to jump down more than 10 feet without it almost always resulting in death would be nice...

There is a difference between combat logging and just logging out of the game. If you are not actively engaged in a fight with said player, they are not combat logging. From what the OP stated, he just wandered upon the player logging out. That is not combat logging, congrats you killed a player logging out in a bad spot...

Cannot find any loot in any of the barracks on any server!
Briljin replied to AmazingAussie's topic in General Discussion
Just find one of the millions SKS on a server and sit in ambush around a military base, soon an AKM will deliver itself to you. -
Screw that, I want a molotov cocktail or the ability to make IEDs using all the propane tanks around the game.

Seriously, did anyone else imagine groups of bandits hunting down bambies so they can leave them with their legs and arms cut off? People need to remember that this is a game not a real life simulation. Most people wouldn't eve survive an amputation without medial support and last time I checked, those hospitals aren't staffed.
