Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!

I still use a mosin and routinely make shots of 500+ meters. Once I stopped running every I went, sway became less of an issue. Now I jog between location and only sprint to cross danger areas or break contact, you should also often make and apply splints to deal with the phantom fracture issue. I was never a big mosin guy but now a days I love it (probably more so thanks to the AK74u for CQB). A 101 with the PSO is another solid option, not the same range but still really good and now you can suppress it :)

Do we really need more zombies?

If Dayz is all about PvE, why is every square inch of the map PvP enabled? Dayz is not all about PvP nor PvE, it is about SURVIVAL. Which will entail aspects of both play styles to one extent or another, if I wanted a pure PvP game, Dayz wouldn't be a my first choice. Just like if I wanted a pure PvE game, it still wouldn't be my first choice. I enjoy it because it uses both elements and each are being improved every update.

    Are Bandits a bad thing?

People kill one another every day for reasons completely unrelated to "political power struggles". In a world were resources are limited and the dead are walking around trying to kill eat you, there will be thus that view other survivors as a threat to their own survival. Either as competition for the limited resources or due to them having something they need. When pushed to the brink humans can be very noble and very evil beings.

Do we really need more zombies?

You guys need to give up this masochist dream game you are constantly going on about. They are constantly adding in more food sources and as long as one can collect rain water, dehydration will never be a problem. Yes we need more zeds, they are supposed to be a big part of the game landscape but you are fooling yourself if you think PvP is going to take a step decline due to environmental issues. If anything as the world because more difficult to survive in, the potential gains from killing another player grow.

    next wipe

Tell that to the military barracks buildings with thousands of items stuffed away in them... So my point was if they had that fixed and wanted to counter the effects of these bugged loot piles, sure do a wipe and remove the hundreds of AKs now cached out in the world.

    next wipe

I wouldn't say it "does nothing". If they fix duping or the bugged loot piles on persistent servers and want to clear everything out to destroy cached loot stores then it's fine. Yet doing it just to do it, then I agree.

    next wipe

Unless they are actually going to fix the persistent looting system, not sure why they would even bother. Yeah they fixed duping last time and then reset but they totally f'ed up the persistent looting as well.

    Least favorite game features

The entire movement system. I want to actually be able to jump/climb over things and being able to jump down more than 10 feet without it almost always resulting in death would be nice...

    Killed a combat logger...

There is a difference between combat logging and just logging out of the game. If you are not actively engaged in a fight with said player, they are not combat logging. From what the OP stated, he just wandered upon the player logging out. That is not combat logging, congrats you killed a player logging out in a bad spot...
  10. Just find one of the millions SKS on a server and sit in ambush around a military base, soon an AKM will deliver itself to you.

The Winchester Model 70 discussion thread

Screw that, I want a molotov cocktail or the ability to make IEDs using all the propane tanks around the game.
  12. Seriously, did anyone else imagine groups of bandits hunting down bambies so they can leave them with their legs and arms cut off? People need to remember that this is a game not a real life simulation. Most people wouldn't eve survive an amputation without medial support and last time I checked, those hospitals aren't staffed.

    Suicidal Loot

I have had stairs break my legs a couple of times (it has been a while) and I have died once from a ladder but it was because the server lagged and I some how fell off it. Other than that I really haven't noticed any issue but then I tend to avoid ladders, not due to being worried that I will die from them but how utterly defenseless you are while upon them.

    Cannibalism Discussion

No more so than magically healing a broken bone with a rag and stick. Just eating human flesh doesn't automatically mean you will get the crazies, there is just a chance that you will. Yes in real life it would take a long time for the effects to actually kick in but this isn't real life or at least I haven't seen an zombies walking around my office yet today...

2 minutes that sums up this game...

Of course your correct, he could just allow them to charge him and knock him out with a lucky punch. Sorry but I am on his side here, charging head long at someone isn't friendly regardless of you yelling it out. Now if I am in a forgiving mood I will only take out a leg but otherwise I will leave their broken body and walk away shaking my head...

Welcome to the JUNGLE - 24/7 Daytime - Active Admins

Spent some time playing on your server the other day and it was nice. Ran into some none KOS players, had some good PvP and even got to play during some night cycle. Added to my favorites list and I will be spending more time here, very good server.
  17. I sat here and thought about it for a few minutes and I can not remember once seeing a message warning that a server was about to reset. I have seen a warning on logging in that a server will reset every <insert number here> hours but not an actually warning in advance of the reset.
  18. Yeah because nothing screams "realistic" like, oh shit wait. I am being attacked by a zombie at my desk!!! No one is against more realistic game mechanics but saying that something needs to be changed simply because it is unrealistic isn't a good enough excuse, unless you are going to suggest we remove zombies? I think we can all agree that is probably the most unrealistic aspect of the game and yet we both know that isn't going to happen either. You have to reach a balancing point, between realism and fun. Again I am not against slowing down movement, (hell I stopped using sprint expect in emergencies or when I need to quickly cross a danger area) but there are far more unrealistic game mechanics that could use some improvement first.

Medic here. Everyone is starving to death

And eating half a cow keeps me full longer than an hour...
  20. I would be fine if they made the running more realistic but it would have to come with a revamp of the rest of the current movement system. Even Minecraft has a better movement system.

    Lone wolf or team player?

I started playing with 2 friends, both of who have basically quit at this point (bugs and hacking turned them off of beta) and now a days I am almost always lone world. The game is very different when you go from playing with friends to solo, you have to be more careful because you no longer have someone watching your back.
  22. Briljin

    Run or kill yourself?

Unless I am with friends and they can secure my body, I don't bother trying to run back unless I spawn really close. I would just rather start fresh than spend time killing myself over an over just to hope I can get a spawn closer to my death point.
  23. Twist and twist, keep twisting those numbers until they support your point of view. Clearly those that voted that 3pp should be changed (which I was one of) would never side with the camp that says it should be removed. So while they both support a change, it is clearly not the same change. Removing a play style is not the same as fixing a "bug" with that play style. Like I said, I could easily look at these results and say that we should remove 1pp because clearly the vast majority of players don't like it! The numbers clearly show that, who cares if that isn't the actually intent expressed.
  24. Well that is only if you include the camp that thinks 3pp should be removed all together. If you only include those that want 3pp but thing it needs to be changed, it is a little more than half those that think 3pp is fine as it is. Seeing saying something needs to be changed isn't the same as saying something shouldn't exist. The funny thing about numbers, if your willing to twist them enough you can use them to prove anything. Hell I could say that according to that poll we should remove 1pp because nearly 75% of the player base doesn't like it.
  25. Actually it just reduces the dumb ass factor, those people who don't actually know how to find a good place to sit in ambush. Sure you have to expose yourself but there is plenty of concealment in cities for one to hide in, the roof is just the easy way out and actually tends to be countered by snipers who know better. It gives everyone the same advantage, just not always at the same time. Just like someone can peak over the roof of the hospital to watch for players, you can peak around the corner of a hallway before you walk into a trap. Like most advantages in Dayz, they just don't always apply equally all the time. And while "peaking" isn't realistic, neither is our ability to observe our surroundings in 1pp because it only represents two senses (and doesn't do a great job with those two). The dynamic camera could be a decent idea, at least worth looking into but I would be worried about the camera jerking around as I move between buildings and such. I don't want to fight with the camera to maintain a point of view, I just don't want it drifting over a wall or around a corner. Anyone have a decent video from a game using this type of system?
