For normal people yes but if you every spent any time in the military or a police unit you would know that uniforms and patches are designed to make it easier to determine a friendly from an unfriendly, without being able to see their faces or even know who they are. I agree that name tags are a bad idea (along with vehicles!) but Dayz needs a far more robust customization for players and clothing. One should not have to use inferior or completely inappropriate gear so they can make themselves stand out. -
Worse is when you get stock at the "please wait" screen after all that. The experimental servers have been really bad lately...

I have been spending some time running around on experimental and while I have seen some animals, it's not like they are really common either. I actually like the fact that there are now two different ways to get food, no reason to suddenly remove one. After all how long do you think the poor animals would last if everyone was hunting them down for food? -
Been playing solo for about a week now (friends stopped playing til some of the more annoying bugs are fixed) and it is much more challenging. Now longer do you have someone covering your back, every encounter with another play becomes more dangerous and hitting up the popular loot areas for military gear can be a nightmare but it keeps you on your toes and it makes me a more cautious player. I don't give other players I run into too much room, if they seem fishy I tend to drop them.

Honestly, if all he had was the vest and an unloaded crossbow you may as well just shot him. You were leaving him with less than a fresh spawn has.

And what the hell is the deal with my key binding being reset to god damn often on the experimentals servers? I was just "timed out" and when I came back I had to re-accept the anti cheat software and then my bindings were all gone again.

I have been experience it like crazy, I just had a log out after spending 3 minutes trying to exit a building only to be rubber banded back inside.

The problem is the absolute anonymity we enjoy in this game. Unfortunately in situations were there is almost no consequences for ones bad behavior, there is little incentive to not be a dick. And that 10% dropped to about 8% after two more deaths. One after I saved a player from a bandit... It is starting to be not worth the risk and I am starting to wonder if my time is better spent having to restart so often just on the off chance that 1 out of 10 encounters will be with a friendly player...

If it was just "an asshole" and not "an army" of them.. Over the past two weeks I had maybe two positive encounters with other players, 90% have all been either "shoot on sight" or "rob me blind" and either then kill me or leave me with a broken leg. Honestly, I totally understand why people turn after to KoS after enough times being kicked in the teeth.

I will try to either wait them out or go out shooting, almost every time I have surrendered it ended up with my death almost immediately. So if I am probably going to die, I may as well try and take some of them with me!

I wonder what would happen if more than one player barricaded the same building, just they did it upon different hives. What happens if they some day play upon the same hive.

Probably your best bet for survival is to avoid as much human contact as possible. Let's be honest, more times than not such encounters are going to end up with someone dead.

No reason to feel bad, most players probably would have dropped him while he was fighting the Zeds. At least you helped him out and only returned fire after he became hostile.

The question would be, is it worth the risk if one can easily pick up an AKM from a military outpost instead? Unless there is some kind of advantage to the M4 over the AKM...

I believe the oppositions point is simple, there are better ways of dealing with "ghosting" then adding in the sound. So instead the conversation should be focused upon solving that problem and not upon applying a band aid to it. -

If the noise can be localized to only the immediate area (like a few meters only), maybe. To deal with ghosting they just need to add stricter restrictions on leaving a server, moving to another and then quickly rejoining the first one. In that case it is pretty clear what was going on and adding a few minutes to the wait timer wouldn't be out of line. -
Provided the new AKM is only from crash sites, otherwise it will just be people finding AKMs instead of M4s at military bases...

First person views suck because no game has done a decent job replicating our actually awareness of our surroundings. We have a great field of view, we have far better mobility and easy of looking around while still engaging in other actions and we incorporate all our senses together to better explore the space around us. Hell I can even smell a rotten zombie in the next room...

It's not really name tags, you have to hover your mouse over them and then it show a tool tip with their name. While I understand Dayz is going for more realism, it leaves a lot in the area of distinctive appearances. I would be happy with just being able to come up with skins to help distinguish Sniper A from my buddy Sniper B. Even the military designs their uniforms to make it easy to tell the who is one of your and not. I would like a more refined movement system. Not breaking my legs because I jump down off the first story building or being able to dive behind cover... -
That was my first thought. It would be great to be able to call out for help if bandits are holding key points, until the bandits are the ones calling out for help to draw in their prey :)

I really hope this game adds in support for windowed full screen mode but you can still modify the config to basically run windowed mode at the same resolution as your desk top and remove the "minimize" issue. I would be fine with them removing it from the game, when they notice that the moon and stars actually give off ambient light levels in the RL and add a similar aspect to Dayz. They may as well turn off your monitor at night. We are not playing underground were there is a total lack of all ambient light...
