Increase Spawn Location Text Duration
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Rue's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Get rid of that text entirely IMO EDIT: On reflection stop displaying the text after 10 respawns or something and perhaps make it display a few more seconds when it does display. -
It would be neat if we can perform a coup de grace on a wounded player with perhaps the combat knife or hatchet. This should only be allowed against an unconscious player and a single move, presumably as a context menu option should be a definite kill. Its only a small thing but I guess not very hard to implement.

Friendly zombie town
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Skeffington's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Way too cheesy for this game. If you want a friendly zombie town get some mates, kill all the zeds in pusta and wander around groaning and growling on direct chat... problem solved. -

Dayz Aggro Mechanics, Which do you prefer? (poll)
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to nyxe2k's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No You sir are mad and in the minority, we don't want dayz lite. Arma 2 is a military simulation game soldiers know the value of cover and concealment, and crawling is a vital tool, I love crawling around zombies its great fun especially if you only play on first person servers as you cant see bugger all and that makes it all the more exciting. -
Reduce the spawnrate of food and drinks + story inside
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Euphe's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Good read, and yes it would great if food was abit less common in loot, I generally prefer meat and always make a high priority to get the matches hatchet and knife as soon as possible. -
Making flashlights more realistic
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Slamz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 Great idea, if you make the 'diffuse' light dim enough it would actually intensify things as you would catch glimpses of things that you can barely make out without shining the beam directly on them. Needless to say the glock, remington and the m4 should also get this treatment. -
TITLE UPDATED: No more SOLO corpse runs = Player driven missions
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Malleovic's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Global lockout for say 1-2 hours on death would be neat and effectively ensure that someone else has to help preserve your gear as it will have de spawned in that time. Server specific lockout is a bad idea it encourages server hopping, also it perhaps is a little un fair on Australia and New Zealand as I assume they would only play on their own local servers due to bad pings. -
Cannibalism
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Tigerr13's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There has to be a serious negative effect otherwise everyone would just eat survivors all the time, dead survivors aren't exactly hard to find or 'create'. Suddenly there is a real reason to kill noobs on the beach again. -
Is it worth the £25 for Arma II CO just for Dayz...
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Stokes-Mellor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yup sure is, but only if you think your not gonna be one of those 'wah wah 1.7.1 is too hard' sorts. Also take into account that other people and bugs are gonna ruin your day from time to time. You will be shot at for no reason, betrayed, your character will be killed by a hacker, or perhaps you will smash your legs while lying next to a tree or any number of horrible glitches that can mean your back on the beach with nothing... Having said it all that it is one of the most emotional games you will find.. the highs and lows of dayz are what makes it work. -

As a new player, This mod is so difficult its un-playable.
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to HamHamm's topic in New Player Discussion
The problem we have here is that this game takes skill and a little thought, now more so than before. All these baby gamers have been weaned on hold your hand, explain everything, wow look at the shiny graphics trash that most of the major studies produce. In a way this game reminds me of doom; no explanation, throws you into the world and off you go working stuff out for yourself. Good luck OP, I hope you get the hang of things, its very rewarding when you do. -
Suspicious Death?
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to vladdie's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yup 3 times on the same server, hacker or perhaps an abusive admin was my guess. I suspect incidents like this will increase, cheaters are people not skilled enough to play the game properly, with the recent patch the game got abit harder thus there may be more angry little failures out there that just wanna ruin everyones game. -
Hardcore fanboys Vs General gamers
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Genki Dama's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am sick and tired of games being watered down for the casual gamer market, DayZ is refreshingly different. -
It's like taking every autistic idea you have and making a patch out of it.
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Tekdrake's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow so much hate. BTW Installing the beta patch for steam really isn't very hard, a friend of mine who has never played arma before knows nothing about it managed to purchase everything on steam get the beta patch setup without too much hastle, so you must be some sort of 'special' case. lols -
Did Arma II's Franchise get saved by DayZ Mod?
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Igor (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
BI haven't really made good games, but they do make excellent (but often times buggy) simulation engines, thankfully rocket and co are making an excellent game with great re playability. I suspect that many of the people that purchased arma 2 recently to play DayZ won't stick around for long, I can think of at least 2 people that bought it played it for an evening or two and didn't like it at all, still its good for BI's business and I hope they make a ton of cash to put into arma 3 or the future commercial (I pressume) release of DayZ. -

My Issues with the 1.7.1 Changes
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to n00baphile's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
From videos and streams of 1.7.0 most players really don't have a clue about avoiding zombies or players for that matter they run around in the open, training zombies all over and making a general commotion these players will have to wise up quit. I am quite looking forward to my next death and starting with no weapon, gonna be fun. -

Voice & Text Communication
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com replied to Wüstenfuchs (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Removal of global channels is a great idea, but there are some problems with it, firstly its not possible to warn other players of a hacker doing bad stuff to people and secondly how on earth are people that don't use external voice or other comms supposed to meet up when they die or get separated. Although it steps away from the realism angle perhaps we need to be able to create groups on the fly and use group communication features existing already in arma 2. You could require everyone to have a radio to use that perhaps but they need to be quite common so that dead people can get back online and start to regroup fairly quickly. -
Killed by hacker on US4 3 times
vincent.cheesbrough@gmail.com posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Server: US4 Time: 15/06/2012 23:05 UTC (approximate of first kill) What happened: Hiding in a bush minding my own business, instantly dropped to the ground dead. Respawned on beach and started to leg it to my body hoping to recover my stuff when I was again dropped to the ground approximately 3-5km from the first hacker kill, respawned again, changed my character name, logged into another server, respawned on the beach and ran up to my first corpse. Switched server back to US4 in the hope I could quickly grab my stuff and log off, body was missing but heard the flies and after 60 seconds or so was killed again in the same manner. I am certain it wasn't a sniper, I was with a mate and he heard no shot and the spot wasn't really overlooked by any distant treeline etc. Sorry I dont know the identity of the cheater, I did take down a list of names of people on the server shortly after the third hack-kill, can PM that to someone if needed. Sad :( had all the stuff I could really want and had been surviving for 14 days or something, hey ho.... Will be fun getting it all back. -
