I've recently found myself in a town somewhere southeast of NWAF. There's a piano house literally right next to a supermarket, and the settlement seems kind of small. It doesn't seem to have an office building. Is it Polana? Stary Sobor, maybe?

In the mod, some people had to configure their AUDIO SETTINGS in order for other players to see typed chat in Direct Chat, which was painfully stupid, ridiculous, and otherwise mind-boggling. Has this been fixed? I've tried communicating to several people thus far, but to no avail.

Just recently bought the game, and I want a server to settle down in. I've been hopping from server to server whenever I decide to play. I've seen three people thus far, and I've had to kill two of them in self-defense. I have yet to hear a single player say so much as a single word. I've been trying to stay away from high-pop servers, since they're allegedly breeding grounds for KoS c*cksuckers. Are there any reasonably friendly, reputable servers out there, or is almost everyone playing Sandbox Deathmatch in nearly all of the game's servers at the moment?

This is pissing me off. I could never get Direct Chat to work in the mod, and I'm unable to get it working here for whatever reason. I've made contact with several people thus far, and despite my best efforts to communicate with them via typing, they don't respond. I've met several bambis that just stare at me for a moment, and then they pass me by. I've even threatened to shoot people if they don't stop or respond, and to no avail. I haven't heard a single peep from anyone thus far. Why the hell not? I'm not using a microphone at the moment. Does this have anything at all to do with it?

Doesn't seem like it works. I've been running around in fully populated Hardcore servers for hours, trying to pester the occasional passerby, and to no avail. There really needs to be some kind of proximity chat that's guaranteed to work with text instead of some ridiculously nonsensical "Direct Chat" bullsh*t that construes microphone chatter and text chat together.

Really wish side chat would be implemented as an optional configuration on public hives. The walkie talkie is cool and all, but its radius needs an exponential boost.

Found out that I was in Polana after adhering to Mancomb's advice. Thanks -- I didn't realize DayZDB's map featured translations.

I managed to kill some random guy that tried to ambush me at the NWAF fire station yesterday out of self-defense. Not sure how, but he missed several shots at point-blank range with his SKS while I was scaling the tower. Ran back down, switched to my Sporter, waited a few seconds near the fire station door, and unloaded ~20 rounds into him as soon as I saw him attempting to round the corner to chase me. It might've just been the game's laggy gunplay, but I could swear he was trying to shoot back after I'd poured ~10 rounds or so into him. I'm positive I hit him nearly every single time, too. Hell, it could've just been his UK assault vest absorbing most of the shots. Managed to emerge unscathed. :P

Well, I don't know. Stary Sobor seems like it'd be a larger settlement. In the mod, it had several industrial buildings, and it was a generally large place overall. Unless it's been revamped in the SA, I'm tempted to think I'm in Polana. It's the only apparent place southeast of NWAF that has a supermarket, unless the online map is outdated. I'm mainly just curious as to whether anyone knows which exact settlement I'm in, since no other place I've found has a piano house and a supermarket literally a few dozen feet from one another. Sure would be nice if the game's settlements featured more signposts.

I've got an M4 with two MP parts (including a Pristine handguard), a 60-round mag, ACOG optics, and enough ammo to start a small war. I want an SKS (preferably with a PU scope) and a reasonable amount of ammo to go along with it. Any takers? Edit: Had no idea there was a trading section until now. There should be, to differentiate the standalone from the mod. Anywho, can anyone move this to the proper section?

I've only found one or two. Personally, I only ever find M4s.
