  1. I had this problem, but it turned out it was running SixUpdater in the background that was causing the stutter. Have you tried shutting that off when playing (if you have it on at all)?

    Ah, found the fix, deceptively simple. For those still having trouble: it's just a question of turning of SixUpdater while running the game.

    I've been getting this a lot, recently, and it seems to be getting worse with each subsequent release. My OS is Vista64 (which I think might cause some problems with Arma2?) and my card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M. The stutter last week used to be about half a second every minute or so, but now it's up to clusters of 2 second freezes every 30 to 45 seconds. It's making the game quite impossible to play.

    Dynamic Disconnection Timer

    I was going to post something similar, but this seems to be an elegant solution. I think, importantly, this timer would also prevent re-connection to other servers while it counted down, thus stopping people from server-hopping. Or at least, slow them down some.
  5. What's the best software with which to record a play session? All I know of is Fraps, but is there anything else? Anything better (and free)?
  6. I have met more friendly survivors than hostile ones. The most potentially dangerous that I met was a group of four, and I say potentially because I hid in the bushes the entire time they were nearby. I've only killed one survivor myself, and that was purely self-defense. Otherwise, I got the drop on a better-armed survivor than me in Berezino but didn't shoot. When he spotted me, he shared his loot instead of gunning me down. Later that day, a group of three got the drop on me by the hospital. They saluted me and kept me at gunpoint until I left. Quite a tense moment. The rest, I've seen at a distance, or we were too busy shooting Zack to turn on each other. It's all in how you play, and luck. Lots of luck.
  7. My friends that have JUST started playing are complaining about the lack of gun and zombie aggro when you first spawn, so I think I'm going to be running some rescue missions. Scan the coast for survivors in dire straits, help them out, give them a pistol. I fully expect the first one I help to shoot me in the face the moment I give him a gun, but them's the breaks!

    How I See DayZ

    In its most basic form: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner%27s_dilemma In its DayZ variant, there are two survivors and one pile of loot. If one survivor betrays the other, they get the whole pile, while if neither betrays the other, they share and end up with less loot individually. However, with the added element of zombies and other enemy players, it's actually more beneficial for the survivors to cooperate as it increases their chances of long-term survival. In any event, it's a social experiment I freaking love.
