To the server admins in military gear patrolling the east coast
Robert Neville posted a topic in General Discussion
A few months ago I was stranded on the coast (I believe it was the east coast, south of the Berezino lumber mill), with no gear, running away from zombies. I heard someone calling me and I saw two guys in full military gear. I had a thought they were the server admins helping out fresh spawns on the coast. They started bandaging me when the zombie I thought I had left behind attacked us, and a second one arrived shortly thereafter. We started circling around, and they fired several shots with their assault rifles without stopping the zombies. I fell unconscious and died. I wanted to say thanks to these guys and sorry for bringing the zombies to you. You're doing a good job. If you recognize yourself please post here or send me a private message. -
To the server admins in military gear patrolling the east coast
Robert Neville replied to Robert Neville's topic in General Discussion
Let me satisfy your curiosity and dampen your hilarity. The other day I was reading some posts about heroes and helping survivors and I remembered that episode. Since I'm looking for someone to hang out with in DayZ I thought about writing a line. I only play DayZ once a week (sometimes more, sometimes less) so what I was writing about happened not so many sessions ago. That's all. -
Well, that's really bad luck. Here's some beans for you.

No one takes RP or Talk before shot serioust enough!
Robert Neville replied to Atilimus's topic in General Discussion
The only way to be sure not to be killed is to join a large group with weapons and a good stash of ammo. And yet, you still risk being taken down by a sniper. -
How did the fuel station explode? Or this is the mod and not the standalone?

I don't see no reason why they couldn't, provided they do enough melee attacks. Unless you need a weapon to do enough cow-damage.

Signs to tell if someone is hostile
Robert Neville replied to natelawrence's topic in New Player Discussion
I have a rifle and a handgun, and I only engage if I see the other person has no weapon or only a melee weapon. Better safe than sorry. -
I prefer DayZCentral for Android, the basic version is for free, for a buck or so you also get a load of information.

You can stop the blood loss by removing your t-shirt, tear it into rags and applying as a bandage.

Perhaps your health was low. It is crucial to always be well fed and hydrated at the max of your capacity. You never know what can hit you.
-
Feel free to correct me, but what actually prevents you to see where your shot hit is the recoil of the rifle. The player doesn't reload automatically; it's the rifle that chambers another bullet after each shot, up to 5.

Ah yes, This is the DayZ life - Starving to Death
Robert Neville replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Avoid heading to the military bases first - bandits set their base there. Go to supermarkets and houses in small/medium cities to take supplies. Police stations have a fair amount of weapons and ammo to begin with. -
How to use the long range scope?
Robert Neville replied to Robert Neville's topic in New Player Discussion
Ok, let's see. Without scope attached, single click Right Mouse Button = aim. With scope attached, single click Right Mouse Button = aim through the telescopic sight. What I wanted to know is (bullet drop and zeroing aside) whether there is a way, when aiming through the telescopic sight, to zoom in/out so to get a closer/farther view. Is this done by holding Right Mouse Button? -
I have one last question and then I'll leave you alone. Would you mind asking him the specs of his machine? This would be very useful to know. Thanks a lot.

Strange glitch. Good thing it has been fixed. Thanks for sharing.

Here's another video of the crawling zombie: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/201847-046-the-crawling-zombie/

I agree with you. I hope this AI zombie behaviour doesn't get removed.

Which video card / RAM / processor GHz do you have? Thanks.

Beautiful video. How do you manage to get the free view mode? -
Which machine do you have? You seem to be playing with a very good level of detail (resolution, etc).

First Day of DayZ disappointment
Robert Neville replied to Logs (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
DayZ is a game different from others. Think of it as a zombie apocalypse simulator. It has a much slower pace of other games you might be used to. This is what makes it interesting. -
As you spawn try to locate yourself on an online map (here's one: http://dayzdb.com/map ). Head for the nearest city and start scavenging for supplies. You might want to connect to a server with a high number of players to maximize the chances of interacting with other survivors. Be warned that you can get killed, too.

I remember having found a couple of them in the shipwreck on the East Coast, between Berezino and Svetlojarsk. One was in the bridge, the other one somewhere onboard.
