So far, if I'm not wrong, zombies are attracted by the sound of a melee weapon as much as the sound of a firearm. However, this might be changed in the future. -

Yesterday I was walking IRL through vineyards and I thought it would be nice to have them in DayZ. Plus, you could gather grapes from them to eat (like you do with apples and berries). Just my 2 cents.

The biggest issues with handguns are that they take up 4 inventory slots, and often they have a less than optimal stopping power. A rifle takes no inventory slots (as is shouldered) and is much more powerful. Nice police uniform, by the way.

Your video shows a strange glitch, possibly with the shadowing effect. Better file a bug report to the developers.

You don't. But shooting first for no reason makes you a bandit. Do you realize that literally everybody has a firearm in DayZ (except fresh spawns and people with no common sense)?

Nice experiment, well done scientifically and well presented. Do you have any suggestions about sprinting? Is always sprinting at full speed advisable?

That's the spirit of DayZ. I had the same rush of adrenaline yesterday playing 0.47 and realizing zombies are more aggressive and seem to be anywhere now - even in the deep countryside.

Much of the pleasure in playing DayZ is spoiled because of those poor bastards that shoot on sight. Being friendly and meeting people exposes you to risks but makes your gaming experience much more enjoyable - there's no comparison. If you want to play it safe, start your first contact with someone that doesn't carry a rifle, and stay at a distance.

EXP - Map now shows the players exact position

Pardon the rookie question: is that an in-game map, and how do you access it? I strongly believe an in-game map should be available only if you managed to find the relevant object (paper map), and in any case it should never tell you your position - let alone other players or zombies. -
