This was my character (40 in-game hours). I had quite good gear: - UN helmet, aviator sunglasses, extra capacity military vest, grey shirt & cargo pants, military boots - Scoped Mosin rifle and Magnum handgun, both with speedloaders and a good amount of ammo - Fire axe and hacksaw - Green backpack with 4 protector cases - Compass, binoculars, 3 sewing kits - Plenty of food and water, several medical items, and other stuff It was killed recently when I was attacked by a horde of zombies near the docks in Elektro, while I was roaming looking for survivors to distribute spare items to. Oh well, the 0.49 patch will do a character wipe anyway.

Hey OptimumVision, continue being a nice guy. A postapocalyptic world needs good people. That's the spirit of multiplaying. If we stop being friendly DayZ will become Call Of Duty.

I have a suggestion for the developers: instead of doing a character wipe, replace every hacked item with a grenade with pin pulled out. This should solve the problem.

I think your proposal is too complicated and outside the spirit of DayZ. However, I appreciate that you started talking about this as being killed in the game is very easy - and frustrating as you lose all your gear. Therefore there should be a way to punish those players that treat DayZ as a FPS. Perhaps a malus for each player kill?

Some time ago I even opened a bugreport for this: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=15499 . Vote it up if you agree that this game mechanic should be changed.

I was running for a long time through Elektro today, pursued by some zombies that I was trying to leave behind. The more I ran through the city, the more I seemed to gather. I was looking for a fire station or hospital where I could climb the external ladder to get rid of these freaks. At last I reach the city hospital and I see a ladder. I stop running to climb - and at that moment the first zombie of the group hits me. Oh well, then I guess I'll have to deal with them. I pull out my Magnum and empty the chamber on the group of zombies. Once they're all on the ground I start climbing the ladder. I am bleeding and I hear other zombies around being drawn to my location by the shots. I reach the roof at last where I can finally bandage myself and rest.

The Magnum is more powerful and easy to reload since you just have to fill the chamber. The other pistols need a magazine - without it you need to reload after every shot - and they're hard to find. I found a .22 mag only after 50 hours in-game.

Can you access the items in the pants/shirt, or nothing at all? I wouldn't like to discover it by myself.

During the weekend there is more people playing so the odds of finding weirdos is higher. And there's always someone willing to attack you just for the sake of it.

EDIT: Ok, problem solved. Steam Overlay was not activated. Now it works.

I too keep with me a hacksaw as a backup for the can opener, as well as some extra food and some water. Even if I keep myself fully energized and idrated. I might have to camp for some time in the woods, or help a fellow survivor. You never know.

Another one that mistakes DayZ for Call of Duty. No beans for you. Edit: ironic how the server messages say "Let's build a friendly server together" right at the beginning of your sniping video. You surely understood everything about the spirit of the game.

Okay, calling them game bugs instead of glitches would be more appropriate. They're holes in the code that allow hackers to create/code an exploit for them.

I run DayZ from Steam and F12 doesn't work for me. Fraps adds watermarks to the screenshots. Any other software you recommend?

"Hacker" is a flattering term which these suckers don't deserve. I suggest "exploiters" instead. They're players that exploit game glitches to obtain innatural advantages such as infinite ammo, invisibility, see through walls, block players from attacking, etc.

Ah yes, I got it. Yes, it happened to me today. I drank all water from a bottle (not a canteen) and my character jumped on the ground. Could not check if it attracted zombies though. Although there's no need for that - zombies apparently are able to spot you miles away...

I was bored and jumped off a cliff.
