Sorry, I don't understand. This kind of over-loot would happen on a server with persistence on, right? Because with persistence off all the loot would be wiped out at each restart.

I'm old and I suck at it so I play on empty servers.

Please let us know when the private server is online. You should also not post any IP address on the forum but send all info via PM instead. I see from your profile that you're from Iowa. If the private server is in the US then I'll have a hard time joining it because of high ping. I'm rather looking for European servers in which to play. For info, in this thread there's the IP of a European PvE server (I haven't tried it yet): http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/213713-usc-private-shard-server-now-available/ -

I'm an older player too and understand you perfectly. On populated servers not only items are very scarce, but you get killed by bandits and random bastards a lot. So I scavenge enough gear on empty servers only. And even afterwards, I don't have hours per day to dedicate to the game, so getting killed after spending a long time getting fully geared is not an option for me. Therefore I, too, prefer to play on empty servers; exploring the map and dealing with zombies it's still a thrill. I look forward to join a server with like-minded individuals where we can collaborate and explore the world and the mechanics of the game without getting killed or sniped by the casual CoD nerd. If you people manage to run a private server, I'm in. -
I agree, you should have let the two guys shooting each other and the zombie hitting them, then see who was left. Never bring a pickaxe to a gunfight.

What should I keep and what should I drop/trade?

Not implemented yet... :) -
[spoiler ALERT] "Hey, how many hits do you think it'll take to blow this thing off?" Apparently, one.
-
That's two of us then.
-
In fact, I suspect most often it's the server admins which restart the servers.

I seriously underestimated the assassin we hired..

By the way, what's the name of the city you are in? -

Funny ragdoll effect at the end of video. What's the city? Chernogorsk? -

Great video and great story. Have some beans. :beans: -
Actually the game is already too much hard, due to the quantity of bugs that are awaiting to be fixed.

When I'm chased by zombies they're always able to catch me, even if I'm sprinting. If I zig-zag perhaps I'm able to leave them behind. I've noticed in several videos players escaping zombies without too much trouble, like here: http://youtu.be/_LkQJEGL4iI In this case the player is happily jogging around. Anyone can explain this? EDIT: perhaps because the player keeps zombies too close, so they don't sprint to catch him?
-
"I creve" it's French for "I die". Don't let yourself be discouraged, the heat/cold system in the 0.49 patch is heavily bugged, hopefully this will be fixed soon.
-
Aha. This makes sense. My computer is not so powerful and I've increased graphic settings recently. This may be the cause of me not being able to outrun the zombies.

Can we stop this instant-ruined-everything stuff?

I understand a zombie attack ruining a weak item like a compass or glasses. But all canned food in a tactical vest (as it happened to me)? Come on, I could be run over by a truck and probably all canned food could be still perfectly edible. -
The introduction of cold condition made gameplay quite hard. I wear a bikers jacket in worn condition, and I am freezing my ass off. And I haven't found an axe so I cannot build a fire.
-
@Tegla: I'm interested too, could please PM us the IP of the server? (Posting it on the forum would attract bandits and assholes.)
-
Were you on a first floor or some other high place? The infamous "fall through the pavement" bug has been killing hordes of survivors.
-
Apparently, the "chop wood" context menu appears when you're near a tree with axe in hand; however, not all trees can be chopped down. How do you recognize the trees that can give you firewood?
-
Since the 0.49 patch, the melee combat is REALLY messed up. It is extremely difficult to hit. I fought a female zombie with the telescopic baton and perhaps hit her once in 20 blows. Do you have any idea where you must aim to hit? For the crowbar, aim slightly right of target. Axe and fists, aim over head. But for the baton?

If you could post a pic of "the huge thing with barrelthingies on the side" it would be very useful.
