So finally made my ghillie suit on stable 0.51
Robert Neville replied to [email protected]'s topic in Gallery
Impressive. Even the zombie runs past you without giving you any attention. It would be very interesting to see a video where you actually make a ghillie suit. -
Nothing reduces PvP KoS like...I don't know...EATING PEOPLE!?!

This is the kind of things that only happen in DayZ :P -
DayZ Standalone will surely be more popular than the Mod. While it's still in alpha, it it quite playable as many of the major bugs have been fixed. The Mod is more military-oriented,and you should choose it if you want to play Arma II.
-
Hi and welcome. You can either buy DayZ Standalone (SA), or buy Arma II and install the DayZ Mod. The two games mechanics are a bit different but both take place in the same zombie-infested postapocalypse.

Journal recording 1412, North West airfield. I was on the roof of the fire station when three zombies around spotted me and ran at the ladder. I could not climb down as I couldn't risk a fight with all three of them (you are quite in a vulnerable position as soon as you end descending a ladder, and two of these zombies were soldiers). So I moved around on the roof; I could hear them screaming and moving around. I ran back at the ladder, saw it was clear, and descended quickly. Decided to finish them off; I preferred that over being taken by surprise by them later. So I ran around and inside the building; I could still hear them screaming around. Spotted them running behind a corner, approached cautiously... and saw them, all three, stuck inside the back wall of the fire station. I put them down one by one with my axe, like shooting fish in a barrel. I was lucky that time.

I haven't played on persistent servers but I am surprised to hear that loot doesn't spawn at all. This clearly needs to be fixed as all the good items are going to be taken and eventually ruined. All food is going to be eaten, all ammo shot, etc.
-
Cool idea, but it would only work on servers with persistence enabled. I have been reading almost all pieces of papers I found, too. Nothing was ever written on them.
-
Thanks for the laughs at the beginning of the video. :P Here's some beans for you.
-
Great video, thanks for posting.
-
Cool place. Where is it?
-
Weird. Very good editing, though. Beans for the artistic expression. :P :beans:

Just for info, suppressors don't work yet in-game. So the Amphibia or a handgun with suppressor are as loud as any other firearm.

When I am saying that zombies are difficult to kill, I am also considering the incredibly annoying bug that leaves your hitbox behind, so they can hit the air and still damage you, or kill you from outside a house when you're inside.

DayZ Colony (Whitelisting | PvP + RP + PvE | Advanced Role-Play)

I might try to join then. Thanks. By the way, the bird's-eye view video on the website is amazing. How do you make that? -
DayZ Colony (Whitelisting | PvP + RP + PvE | Advanced Role-Play)
Robert Neville replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in Servers
Hi Weyland. Where is this server based? Thanks. -
Nice. Any roleplay server out in Europe?
-
It is most likely a bug. You get out of sync and suddenly fall through the floor (or stairs). The fall kills you instantly. A lot of players died this way.

Has anyone found themselves locked in yet?
Robert Neville replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
Is this icon what you see when you try to open a locked door? I haven't encountered one yet. -
Great pictures.

As per my experience, the only melee weapon that work is an axe. Anything else might eventually kill a zombie but more probably will leave you bleeding/ruined/dead beforehand.
-
It's not you. The 0.49 and 0.50 patches kind of broke the combat system with zombies. Now they're much more difficult to hit and kill. There are only two melee weapons able to kill them: the fireman axe and the chopping axe. Get them as soon as you can.

I'm old and I suck at it so I play on empty servers.
Robert Neville replied to Butifnot's topic in General Discussion
Just for precision, you didn't install games from cassettes... you run them. The standard C64 had no memory mass storage onto which you could install something. My first hard disk was 56 Mb on an Amiga computer. Back on those times hard disks were rare and costly -- thousands of euros in today's money. By the way, if you feel like going into the memory lane you can always download an emulator such as CCS64 or WinUAE. They work perfectly. -
What are the differences between Overwatch / Epoch / Overpoch?

What are the differences between Overwatch / Epoch / Overpoch? Also, which one would you say is the hardest to play? Beans in exchange of good answers. Thank you all. -
