What dayz could have been without zombies
The Snake in Your Shorts replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
And I'd be okay with that. On the other hand, if the zombies get vamped up, or they increase horde numbers (I've never faced a group of zeds numbering more than three), and actually become a credible threat, I think it could actually change the way we play Day Z. No more would you see LaMOE (Last Man On Earth) mentality, but guys banding together to stay safe. The thing I don't like about the concept of no zombies, is that at that point, everything goes to banditry. With the things you've suggested, limited resources, more environmental hazards, everyone would LaMOE or group together to fight other players for their resources. The way things are now, you could actually see a practical use for a hero based clan. They could band together to defend against bandits and help scavange towns. They could, and I love this concept, seize NWAF and turn it from a deathtrap into a safe haven. /endrant -

While I've never seen or read the Road (And I really want to, I've heard such wonderful things), the scariest thing in Day Z are the other players. Very early on in my Day Z experiences, the first time I was really outfitted well, I finally started to move off the coast (Also the first time I had attempted this). Within two minutes, I took a mosin round to my left leg, which shattered. I lay unconscious, hoping I'd wake up. Instead, he (Or maybe his friend) walked up to me and finished me off. Zombies don't scare me in Day Z (Unless I lack resources to bandage myself up). Infection doesn't scare me. The other players are the biggest threat in the game. -
UN / PRESS Gear Neutrality!
The Snake in Your Shorts replied to G4m3rHead's topic in General Discussion
I don't like the idea of using it as a no killing people marker. I prefer the idea of a "Hey, I'm not a douche and I'm not gonna shoot you" marker. But not to be followed religiously. I love the idea of a UN style clan, especially after we get tents and vehicles, that wear the UN gear. I have been drawing up plans for this the past few days, actually. EDIT: It would by no means be a Hero clan, but they would have Hero ideals. They would want to help other players and keep things orderly. But they would have no problems engaging other players, especially bandits -
Listening music/podcasts while playing

I'll throw something on my TV while I play, more as white noise than anything else. I'll have headphones in one ear and the show will be playing. Usually something I won't watch -
Enjoying the view while I study.

Could've been a guardian angel, instead watches in amusement. I too enjoy relaxing, sometimes I'll finda hidey hole at the top of a tall building when I'm hungry and take a moment to just chill out. -
So hey, I'm Ender. I'm new to Day Z. Started a few days ago, but love it so far (SA, obviously). Let's swap horror (Or war) stories. I'll start. So I started on a Heroes Only server, and it went pretty well. Spawned by a large town, and I spent about two hours scavenging for supplies slowly. Had a run in with a zombie early on, and he got a few hits in before I knocked him down and killed him (Bare fisted!). Tore up my shirt for rags (BTW, it was raining like crazy) and patched myself up before continuing on. Got a hold of a machete soon after that and it became my mainstay weapon. Found some nice camo pants, a neat orange rain coat (More storage, pretty useful aside from the fact I stuck out like a sore thumb, more on that later). Got a backpack, water, food, and a double rifle (No ammo). Finally, when I found a compass, I decided to set out on a path north, go into the woodlands in the way north and just survive. Well, I made it two minutes out of town when WHAM! Rifle shot, shatters my left leg and I go down like a sack of potatoes, KO'd. If I'd been like that, I might've been okay. Patched up my leg (I had two first aid kits), and gotten out of there but the fucker double taps me and I'm out. I rage quit and went to bed, but about to boot up again and start anew. So what are your guys' stories?
