  1. 2nd on this guy. I ran up to him and unloaded a FN FAL clip into him and nothing happened cept me dying.
  2. This would explain the guy in a ghillie suit I unloaded a FN FAL clip into at a distance of 8 meters to no effect. I know I can be a horrible shot, but not THAT horrible. >.
  3. Your character should drop a zombie when you DC that is there for at least 30 seconds. There should be a 5 minute timer between switching servers. If you DC while bleeding or within 15 meters of a zombie, you should return to a 5 minute coma. If you DC while in a Coma you should die. /thread.
  4. Thought y'all might enjoy a fun little experiment on How To Loot A Helicopter.

    How to Loot a Helicopter

Next time you get to put it on our motorcycle as we ride off a cliff! We are aware that sometimes you can find stuff by crawling along the edges. However in this case you could not access the FAL, it never came up on the screen. AND>>> WTF blowing things up is awesome!!! Screw glitching yourself. Embrace the BOOOOOOM!

    Disconnecting to avoid death

I will be happy to see this happen. Seems like this is getting to be more and more frequent. If I don't bumrush someone they will DC to save from dying after I knock them down. Tonight ran into a duo of snipers in Berenzino that would shoot, then forcelog to lose zombie aggro, then reconnect to shoot some more. They would pop in and out everytime we tried to fight back and I even bumrush the dang bush they were popping in and out of and tried to grenade it to remove their cover. Looking forward to either you being killed when you DC while injured or that your character leaves a 'zombie' out for a longer period of time.
  7. Yogscast just did a , and if you saw it and are checking out this awesome game that is DayZ there are a few things you should know.First... You don't start out with all the gear like the chaps in the Yogscast video did. You start on with a flashlight, a bandage and a painkiller. No gun or ammo. No bloodbags. You don't spawn next to your friend. This game is an awesome experience but can be very hard for fresh, new players. I invite some of our veteran DayZ players to post some of their tips for staying alive in DayZ. I have written a couple of blog articles on the basics of how to survive as a new player, hopefully you enjoy them! DayZ: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse With Only a Flashlight and a Tin Can. DayZ: Hard Lessons Learned While Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse Tips to Remember: Play through the "Boot Camp" missions in Arma2 before jumping into DayZ. It has tutorials on how all the major game play mechanics work. (Thanks Brenelael and Bami) Play Arma2 for a few days so as to get used to the feel of the game engine, how the inventory works and all the other little quirks and oddities before you jump into DayZ. (Thanks Sleepytime) Read the location name on the bottom right of your screen. It appears whenever you spawn in (every time, even if your character is old), and can give you a clue as to your location. It only lasts a few seconds, so pay attention! (Thanks Kohpka) Once spawned on the coast, head inland. If you hit a road before hitting a railroad, you are most likely on the east coast. The railroad before a road you are most likely on the south coast. You can also use the sun/stars as an indicator once you figure out which coast you are on to maintain your bearings. (Thanks Redz) Some players will shoot first and ask questions later. However not everyone is bad, you can try and communicate with direct chat. (Thanks Powell) Players are the major threat in DayZ, not the zombies. (Thanks Cartz) Don't shoot your friend in the head, unless you really have to. (Thanks Dallas!) :D Caps Lock uses voice communication. Go to Direct Channel using ',' and try direct chat if you want to see if someone is Friendly. Zombies will eff you up, be cautious around them. This is not a typical shooter. Morphine! Broken Legs are No Joke! Mainly found at hospitals. (Thanks Targeter_NL!) Collect all the ammo you find to make sure when you do find a gun you have some ammo for it. (Thanks Sunzz) Don't get attached to gear, you wont be able to keep it for ever. (Thanks StealthyBraden!) Don't run around like headless chickens! (Thanks Lukio!) Stay off of rocks, and never ever go prone and crawl over a door frame or ledge. Bad things happen to your legs! Doors can knock you out - be careful opening and closing them (Thanks Adron) You will die. You will die 5, 10, 20 times before you survive longer than 30 minutes. Deal with it, and push on. When you survive it will be worth it. (Thanks Werty) In general the nights are pitch black in Chernarus, as in won't see your own shoelaces. (Thanks Roberts512) Don't run across fields, try to move in the treeline to avoid being detected. Deer stands can usually be found in the treeline next to a field, there are just a few zombies around the stands and they have a decent chance of spawning a firearm, survival tools or ammo. (Thanks Uuni) Meat and Matches are extremely helpful as Cooked Meat replenishes health. (Thanks Mays!) Don't eat or drink until the indicators are flashing! Supplies can be hard to find when you are just starting out and this will maximize their benefits. (Thanks Brenelael) Stealth is your absolute best friend. focus on learning how to avoid the infected's attention. (Thanks P1n34l) The "best" guns aren't necessarily the best guns for your playstyle. Don't rush out and grab a sniper rifle because they're the "best" guns, and then tell us there's nothing to do but PvP. (Thanks Gibbonici) Lots of "charity" in Cherno. People love to "give out free stuff" there. Like bullets and stuff. :P (Thanks KWilt) You can use the Forum search function and check out the stickies before posting a new thread with any issues or qualms you may have. (Thanks Nightpaws) How to Install DayZ Tips!
  8. Being a female gamer, I feel a bit more comfortable in the female toon when using voice chat in DayZ. It just feels like it makes sense more when I am running in circles and screaming like a girl.. OMG NO SHOOT! FRIENDLY OMG OMG. :D
  9. Updated with a collection of your awesome tips and a link to your original posts as well. Tried to organize them a bit, so hopefully they are helpful to all our new players. :D Some great tips there!
  10. More players and games sales are never a bad thing. I am happy to see new players and would like to be helpful to those players who are into trying out DayZ and want to live past their first town. Added!

RIP DayZ - Yogcast started a LP

Sort of disappointing to see them start with 1911s, morphine and blood bags.
  12. MissBehave

    No competent player should die

I wouldn't call making the risk to try and find morphine on the roof of the hospital being a moron, since it might be the only place to find it. Chalk this up to legs breaking and less to your leet skills at being a dick on the forums.

    Spawning in the air!

I had this happen last night as well. We had a home server on one of the Dallas servers. Something happened this weekend during the DDOS attacks and our server has gone down and there is no word when it will be returning. So.. our group was trying to find a new home server. We like servers that don't have the mouse-wheel scroll feature that tags everything and gives you distances. It is like a fake range finder and feels cheap to us. Also wanted to find a server that was Inverse time, as we usually play after work as a group which means we are forced to always play at night. Wanted to find a server that allowed us to play during daylight hours when most of us were on. So.. logged on to a number of servers, looking for one that was GMT +4 to +8 for west coast players and didn't have those tag rangefinder things on. Logged onto Seattle 47 and blammo.. thrown into the air and killed. Sucked. I am not a server hopper for gear or anything, we just were trying to find a new place to call home since our server and all of our tents disappeared. I had been lying down in the woods north of Novy Sabor somewhere. Next thing I know, I am falling from the sky and it says I am at the airfield. Dead. Seeing more people reporting this happening. Started over but this really needs to be investigated. I don't mind dying to a bullet or a zombie.. but thrown to your death because you logged on is pretty brutal.
  14. This is much ado about nothing. Every game in the industry does interviews and PR run-throughs with press. Most companies have internal servers and have Press visit in house or a large secured test server. Just view it as a secured test server, move along and enjoy the fact that there is attention to how awesome this game is. No Tears.
  15. Hello everyone, I just posted up a new blog article about our adventures in DayZ and finding our first vehicle. This is part one of a two part story, where the vehicle discovery fuels an "El Dorado-esque" obsession to search out the safety and security of DayZ vehicles. Drive it like you stole it, y'all. Enjoy! DayZ Vehicles: How My Vehicle Obsession Eventually Cost Us Everything – Part One
  16. Great story! This is part of why I love DayZ! I hope you enjoy part two of my story. I just posted it up on my blog! DayZ Vehicles: How My Vehicle Obsession Eventually Cost Us Everything – Part Two
  17. Finding two crashed helicopter sites and awesome gear... and then managing to get glitched inside a house with a massive zombie horde. Broke my leg and then in the midst of trying to reload I hit F. I said out loud, OMG WHAT DID I JUST THROW?!! I watched as the grenade bounced in the doorframe. KABBOOM. I just naded myself. Derp.
  18. I will be releasing Part Two to this story later today. Thanks to everyone who visited to read it! I love hearing back from other DayZ players and enjoy hearing your stories! You guys are awesome!
  19. I know! Grats on the bike! I found one bicycle once but it was glitched into the ground and I couldn't ride it. I REALLY want to find one!

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

My Friend closed a door while I was going through it and broke my leg. Glad to see some investigation into the Leg damage, if even from zombies.
