  1. A guy in our squad found an attack chopper at NW AF, at the far NW part of the runway. He flew it down to Kamenka for me to fly so he could gun. The radar was very confusing, it pinged things in different colors, he had rockets and 800 rounds of something and could lock onto things. I crashed it within 10 minutes, I did not play ARMA vanilla, and that was like flying a dumptruck around with a mouse. Very odd handling, I guess it is "realistic". So we took a hand landing in a dip while attempting to turn, gunner died instantly, I lived, the chopper exploded but placed me outside of it unconscious and bleeding, but with a whopping 9000 blood. Then the town (Zelenogorsk) proceeded to have a very strange "mass on fire" flickering bugged out animation... flames would appear over the whole town, but as you walked through them they would disappear in front of you, almost like rain when you enter a hangar or something. Multiple restarts did not make this go away, for either of us. This was on UK/US XX (purposely hidden server name) last night, shortly after this I was shot in the back at the center deerstand at foot of the northern facing side of Green Hill. Green hill also had very dark smoke coming from the south side of the slope, closest to Zeleno. A russian gentleman typed 3 times in bold cyrillic red text, which I did not know was possible. We disconnected fearing being nuked or something. My question is this: So, are choppers back in? Attack choppers only or? I see multple posts here with people saying only "old servers" have choppers. This is 1.7.1.5 with latest ARMA patch, or second latest I believe. We have found NO vehicles, only (players) bicycles and a van at Solnichy in 1.7. This was both surprising, and saddening (I crashed it quick), we desperately wanted to find other vehicles with the radar but couldn't figure out how to fly the fucking thing, should of loaded singleplayer and landed it out of bounds. Fuck my life. So will this chopper respawn in 7 days? Anyway, the flaming Zelenogorsk thing was very very strange, and would not go away. It was literally, all of Zeleno, no damage when you walked through any of it (after the crash) just some odd bugged out graphics of our fiery skidding crash I guess?

I didn't read all of the replies but here is my input since this appears to be an open discussion. 1) Chasing things that are trying to get away is a rush, even if its a defenseless animal (I.E: Hunting). This is what makes "The Hunt" irresistible to bears, cats, dogs, you name the predator, humans. 2) Exercising control or dominion over others, and playing into a submissive role (you dropping all your stuff, pleading) further exacerbates this primal instinct of alpha domination by the agressor. If something like this happens again and a bandit actually has open dialogue with you and plays this "game", you should go into his backpack after typing a long query on his cat-like prowess in trailing you so well, take out a gun, and shoot him. If nothing else after he shoots you, before you can shoot him (load a clip into the gun you took from his bag etc) he will feel he was NOT in total control. His hardon will drop slightly. I know shit, but this is the thoughts as I sit upon my toilet crapping the good crap. So sayeth the lord. Amen.
  3. I have checked the day z wiki, and no other choppers other than the huey... I googled " day z attack chopper", and there is a video of I don't know like single player editor or something, but this was the chopper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Npb9MqdoiCE The server was UK11. Our guy found it fueled, fully functional, and sitting in a place that, for all intents and purposes, appears to be a vehicle spawn point, not arbitraily on the map in a field or even off-center of its spawn location. All evidence then says, hacked in for sure? The russian text in red was 30m after the crash, possibly hours later. It was after he had ran back looted his body at our crash site. and we travelled up and past NW AF to see if it was somehow "back" where he found it, and it wasn't. Also I teleported while in this server hugging the road West of NW AF, I teleported a good distance BACK along the road, in an area we had NOT been running in (like a huge lagged out rubber banding, so not this). It was an ODD fucking night. We came across a chopper crash sight, a sniper in a ghillie suit in front of us runs PAST it, checks a deerstand and appears to DC. Not seeing the downed chopper at all (day server UK while we play from US at night). So was this chopper hacked in, in such an oddly appropriate location? Ninja patch? Vehicles respawn after 7 days correct? IF not hacked in that is.
  4. I got an infection. I had 12,000 blood, temp 42. But apparently caught it from a zombie, which Day Z wiki confirmed. I had been coughing, and about 1 hour later I had 7500 blood. So you bleed it slow, but not over a few hours of trekking. From DayZ wiki: "Antibiotics are used to stop an infection. They are very rare and may be found at hospitals only. A Survivor may get infected when hit by a Zombie while bleeding, or when near an already infected Player while the Temperature is below 34°C. An infected player looses Blood continously but slowly down to a bloodlevel of 6,000. Beside this effect, the Player coughs regularly." http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Antibiotics Their detailed info on actual infections did not answer it: "Infection Symptoms Character will cough and splutter Causes Causes of Infection: Random chance when Temperature drops below 36 Spending time near players who are already sick Treatment Using Antibiotics will cure the infection, however they spawn rarely." Sorry to ask, but "search" didn't even have the specifics on blood loss amounts in regards to infection. So now it will for future noobs.

  6. I agree with the hearing aspect, but that's all. What's silly is the movement and it's affect on audibility. You move slower if you crouch-run sideways, therefore you have lower audibility than if you crouch-run forward. Another example; if you prone-crawl forward you are one tick higher in audibility, if you prone-crawl forward AND left, or backwards you are silent because you are ever so slightly slower. This encourages retarded crab walking and special olympics crawling behavior as to avoid our extremely loud movements near ever present zombies. Either make the threshold for the undeads hearing higher to aggro, or adjust the speed at which you have to move for the audibility ticks of our different movement speeds, at least to not encourage prone-crawling backwards into a town or crab walkin in like some asshole with a flashlight. Also dead bodies should not transmit colds, off topic sorry.
  7. THIS is what makes this mod start to really define itself, THIS is the fucking apocalypse people! It is hard, it will rape you, and it will need polish. The fear of zombies is BACK! You will adapt, and embrace a whole LAYER of this game again: Stealth. This is Hitman, this is Thief, this is the what makes this experience amazing. Risk, reward, and fear. You can't just camp in a building anymore and slowly kill 15 zombies then move out. We went through 5 mags doing single shots on a barn pull. 70 zombies later, we were low on ammo and had beans. This is as it should be. I think this is a bold step in the right direction. BTW, I spawned without a gun, and fucking loved it. Now geared, and in the hills. Embrace stealth, and the new LOS mechanic, you can lose all or many zeds. GFJ ROCKET!

Thanks for sharing though ;0) Ideally it would be removed, no one can knock you for doing it now, as anyone the least bit organized is doing the same thing. Ideally though, tents can't be setup out of bounds, and vehicles can't be saved out of bounds. If you leave a vehicle out there, it despawns, and respawns in a random location. The hoarding can fundamentally ruin a server. If a crew, that likely runs the server, gets the chopper, they then use the radar to find all vehicles, then use a GPS to put all vehicles and a tent city 10x miles off the map. This server now has no vehicles, as all are hoarded in a unintended "safe zone" for infinity. Anyone who is a true gamer will admit this is at its core "lame". Argue with that.
