I've seen some "Rust" australian servers on some big youtube channels... Huge bases with equally large NSDAP symbols drawn all over them - outside and inside. And nobody cared one bit about that. At least formally. So let's be frank - why disabling an entire feature just because it can be used to abuse others? It simply doesn't add up. Take guns then, cuffs, even cars. From what i know 0.61.138043 broke reading/writing/persistance of notes and it wasn't the first time. 'They' were supposed to fix that (unofficial statement) and it never happened - end of story.

Yup, the most basic function that is missing. And there is nothing logical to not to have it.

Vehicles are powered by the very same framework so models, textures and names doesn't really matter. Even horse mod can be a very rough experience with current settings.

This game also needs a parrot. And some eye patches of different colors. Bandit galore. And you know what? Mods already have them 😆

There was another.. workaround. The moment things were getting out of hand player could just evacuate from the car by jumping out. But that was then... Escaping now is too dangerous or at least an action not worth taking. Certain bleeding, maybe fracture or even death. And they mostly did that so players couldn't "warp" through walls :P.

No flying party bus... Hence schadenfreude islands were almost forgotten.

When you're playing for items then it hurts and if your're playing for memories, with or without others, then it's a whole different game. Ultimately time in games is limited. Doesn't matter the title, keeping old data for too long will drag down any database eventually. If your character made it to the end - disappeared along with old version of the game then i'd say that you achieved all there is in aspect of survivalism. There was nothing else to do but to let go and move on.

What's the source of that conclusion? On our server people were pretty much always in support of a wipe after few months of playing. Bases builded with fat thousands of nails and planks vanished and were rebuilded, each time differently, better. It was a custom hardcore server where box of nails was one of the rarest object on a map, much like tools. And what's this about avarage survivability? Regulars were keeping +30 hours on their characters. Maniacs (me included) had over 100 hours each time. Sure there are people who enjoy strictly pvp and don't care about leaving anything substantial on a map but don't put everyone in the same bucket, will ya? For you may even discover some pvp gods that also build a lot and live forever. "DayZ" is to learn to live and let go - map is waaaay too small to keep things stashed for too long. It's not "Miscreated", where you log-in and discover a sea of abandoned bases everywhere. An abandonded wasteland of effort.

And yet there are people who care about this program. And yet it's a game with unique environment and solutions. It's a game worth investing into. With history and potential - unlike failures such as "Ylands" or "Vigor". Money isn't everything - many AAA productions proved that, by dying on a market. ps. oh, vehicles... Oh well.

A wipe gives a chance to begin again on equal terms with others. When you have nothing, you're playing differently than when you have everything. Survival in "DayZ" is pointless as it is either way - current base building system proves that. It's too autumn oriented. Can't barricade existing buildings, can't make use of them (furniture for instance) - when solid fireplaces can only be found in them.

There is a way to make game spawn certain type of object over and over again but it's a glitch based on loot cycling which is considered (reasonably) a cheat. I've seen it many times - game would spew same items over and over again which destroys economy and generally fun.

rvn is a red dot, not a full fledged night vision scope like 1pn51. wiki: "(...)The 1PN51 Scope is a telescopic scope augmented with a night vision device for the KA-M, KA-101, KA-74, Vaiga, VSD and VSS in DayZ Standalone. There's also another way - cheaper way for the owners. If the game will not be updated later on then they could just release all locks on it - including source code. Community will fix this game and make it better. It will be just like "Jagged Alliance 2". Community took it over and created version 1.13. Basically a new game with so many options its difficult to count them. And it's just an example - there are a lot more games like that - carried by common people and not for money but as a hobby.

It's fine. Those are all semi-silenced bb guns in dayz world. If you want some real firepower, get yourself a trumpet that can send to sleep a freshie from like 200 meters away. 9x39 is only dangerous in stalker games...

More videos...? What's the point? BI ain't blind, surely they know and don't really care. The very first post has a movie and it's more than enough of a proof. Personally, i have about 300 hours purely behind wheels in "dayz" - especially with olga, gunter and sarka. I know that those things aren't vehicles but rather some sort of rpcs that hate servers overall and unstable ping. Doesn't matter if its driver's, passengers or people in vicinity. One of the reasons why i have 1k hours on vanilla and about 5k on modded versions. Can't drive without mods because instability will destroy a car and people in it. Now try to play on a really hardcore setting with deathtraps like that. You'll just waste your time trying. So mods are required. But it's not enough. Personally, i choose to drive on low pop servers only. Because the cars are like space shuttles. Dying to other players is one thing but dying to bugs is just a sad experience.

Minimi is in the game repo since like 2016? 15? Just like many other objects, it was never finished. Propably lacks animations (crashes program on use).
