Unconscious player dies automatically when trying to escape by logging off. What do you mean by saying "restart button"?

"(...)Problem is that I can't get inland far enough to get loot, by that time I am nearly dead. Although, I forgot that cannibalism is a thing....maybe I'll have to resort to that until I figure out a better strategy...is kuru back in? with all of it's side affects?(...)" It is - you start eating humans and you can't stop for everything else won't work later on. 1) - do not sprint when you don't need to, for it drains your energy very quickly. 2) - visit well and drink a lot (on 1.12 you could repeat drinking animation - 32 times exactly before puking). Do not drink from ponds or rivers for it's not safe anymore . If you're forced to drink from environment, then remember to use chlorine tablets on your water container or boil it. If you get cholera then tetracycline pills are a solid way to get better. 3) - do not make assumptions based on full icons. Full icons are displayed when stomach is filled in like 10 - maybe 20%. You can eat and drink a lot more than that. And remember: it's not a race. Take your time when consuming. 4.) - The best start is all about getting a knife. You can find some small rocks on railroads and tourist trails. Just like fruits beneath trees rocks won't spawn immediately - you need to be in a vicinity for some time. And if you spot some right away then be careful for it means that other players were close. Pickaxe and sledgehammer can also help with that because you can mine in current "DayZ" (https://dayz.fandom.com/wiki/Boulder). Splitting large stones gives a lot of smaller ones. With knife in hand it's time to get some fishing hooks. You can find them occasionally on the beach, near small fishing boats, but you need something better than a chance. Use your ears and get yourself a chicken. Kill, take the bones and use a knife on them to craft a few hooks. You can also use human bones for fishing purposes - you won't get kuru from that. Fishing rod can be found (small fishing boats, cargo containers...) or crafted [long stick(some bushes and smaller trees) + rope(6 rags+6 rags)]. Fishing needs some patience but in the end it works. Use a knife on fishes to get some juicy fillets. The more the better. You can later break down your fishing rod to use long stick as a cooking utensil. You can sharpen it with knife and use it to cook, although it takes too much time in my opinion. It's better to use a pre-built fireplace in one of the houses. Open inventory near one of those fireplaces and add fuel (any type of wood really) and kindling (paper or a dry rag) to it. Ignite it with matches, lighter, flare or crafted hand drill kit (bark+short stick). Place fillets via menu in dedicated slots or by hand. And then you wait. Don't keep it too long for it may burn; When you hear crackling sounds it means it's ready. Also remember about smoke. Other players can see that and may stalk you for whatever reason. 5.) - After drinking and eating it's finally time to get some loot. Always look first for bandages and tetracycline. Do not treat infected like dirt but rather as a way to deal with aggresive players. Different clothing has different insulation levels (you can see that information in item's description window) - not very useful on chernorus map but on Namalsk it's quite important. And that's pretty much it. Community servers are better for longterm adventures and basebuilding purposes and vanilla for everything else.

AI must be something more than just a filler. Infected are the rulers of Chernorus and the players are only tourists. AI has one major purpose: to slow down players overall progress. You're not fighting against zombies but creatures driven with madness.

It's because some people like to suffer. Playing on console is like playing legacy versions - people can experience "DayZ historical values" first hand.

Tens of thousands of cheaters? Let's not be *that* dramatic!... 🙂 There is one cheap way to keep official servers clean. All servers really. Having a local scanning tool that'll keep tabs on every player in a game. If a player gets caught the tool gives him a warning. Three warnings and he's kicked. Three kicks and he can't play for a month. His steam account name displayed in a hall of shame (not Wolchek's btw...). Such tool needs a neuro-like layers on maps, so it can detect if players are in places they cannot normally visit (underground for instance) and if their movement is unnatural (teleporting). It can also tell if players are using current game functions in a correct way. Duping can be resolved in similar fashion; The tool remembers all the items on a map - it's linked with server's database. It scans players inventories and knows if the things inside are legit or came from nowhere. A very simple identification function. Overall it's a personal guardian angel for each server and this game only. Because each game has it's own design and things to exploit. There is only one problem with that scenario: scanning tool needs investment of time and money. And we all know that BI is a cheapskate for some odd reason. I called all that a "cheap way" because servers admins will not be forced to resolve cheating-related tickets ever again. It's saving their time. BI needs such a tool for their own future projects either way - it could save their face and time as well. BattleEye is like a Facebook - it's a global tool that does not care for individuals. It's more of a placebo than a cure. People were teleporting and duping in "DayZ" since day one. BE never resolved that. It simply could not.

Blocking is one thing but what about situation where one infected alarms the other and so on? As soon as player stops blocking he is pummeled to the state of unconsciousness. Is there a way to move smoothly from defence to offence? Without being hit in the process? That's the problem. "(...)Heavy swings pushes them out of your melee range while they can still hit you.(...)" - which should never happen. Survival needs a chance and not by calculating designed mistakes :).

ADA's wheels weren't stuck in a ground and yet it yeeted... Strange.

Then maybe it's time to stop calling them "zombies" and to start calling them "infected". Fighting with a creature that is not afraid of dying should not be an easy thing to do. And the virus should spread quickly - that's precisely why infected won against every other faction in Chernorus. What we truly need are details. Protection levels, range issues (ping related), more animations [tripping for instance(so npcs will not always move perfectly)].

Maybe the thing didn't "disappeared" but rather felled on the floor... You can bleed out even while being healthy - which is logical. Life ends when avatar lose about 40-50% of blood. Also, avatar's body is not reacting immediately to changes. Patching up, eating or drinking - all of that needs certain time to make a difference. When being close to death every second counts. I had similar experiences with wolves and modded dogs throughout the years. I must say that fighting them in close quarters is the best - especially when being ambushed. It's a perfect dance of death.

Some people are pathological - there really is no other reason for their behaviour.
-
Invisible bolt or arrow or something or at least sound suggests that.
-
People were trying for years - and officially failed. Memory issues, then there is battleye, connection errors... Maybe one day.

"(...)Now it is simply impossible to go to a military base from the start of the game, because zombies will definitely kill you(...)" And that's a good thing! Military installation isn't McDrive type of place you know? AI should be something more than just annoyance. It's a pure survival game, not a battle royale like PUBG.

a bit old but...

People always wanted to fly in "DayZ". And now they can! No need for choppers or planes when there are vehicles such as V3S or Olga. #DayZAviation - Let the dream continue.

Forcing timetable only proves that someone has finally made an executive decision to end all of this mess. "(...)There's a lot to like about the game, but deciding to release to console was the worst decision they could have made.(...)" No... The worst idea was to buy that version of "DayZ". It's like "Skyrim" for PS4 - it doesn't make sense for those with eyes. It's like throwing away potential that comes with modding. But to sell that... It's like stealing a candy from a kid. There are always people who "~only want to play". It targets them - and since majority is always wrong, it's an easy target.
-
Have faith - it's all we can do since they don't want our money anymore.

After the 1.13 Update My Character Deleted!

mackumbelov, 'They' don't have to do anything, really. This game is Bohemia's sidekick, nothing more. It's not alpha anymore. And yes - you will be playing on modded servers - soon enough. "DayZ" started as a mod. It's a platform for modding. Sure it would be great to have richer vanilla feature-wise but personally, i don't believe it will happen with how things currently are. Not enough developing, non-existing marketing - and all that happens when market is so shallow. "DayZ" has no competition and yet it's slowly being killed. Ridiculous situation. Then there are those scripters, dupers, cheaters generally speaking... How to deal with them when there are no active admins on official servers? Easy. Screw official and play on private servers . There is a better chance for justice there - especially on whitelisted or local ones. A chance you will never get on officials. -

If it's vanilla server then it's a usual thing nowdays. Private servers are pretty much always left with a choice: to do wipe or do not. And most of them do their cleaning. It's a way to go, especially for bigger servers with a lot of mods. -
Well, this video proves at least one thing. That Microsoft made a deal with BI. If you don't activate your windows copy you're done in a game.
-
You're sure? Let's think it that way: what will be better for stability and also easier for admins to control? Rich vanilla or vanilla with a long list of unofficial mods?
-
Yes, but it's bugged. Can be installed on anything (including thin air), text delete itself when letters limit is reached and more.
-
But worms are edible... For fishes. You get some juicy mackerel in the process. It's hard to die in this game when you can basically fish forever.
-
I feel ya on this - writing, drawing, editing... That would add a lot of creativity to this game. Not only loot-kill-build scenario.
