Same thing happened to me. I was on US 5, had a ghillie and now I don't. No other gear is gone, although a vehicle I had saved is now not in it's location but I cannot confirm that this is not due to a player.

L85A2 gone, snipers will reign supreme
jesquik replied to TractorFiend's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Excellent. Although' date=' good discussion on game balance. It's obvious who does the sniping, and who was happy that they could go on killing people in treelines ghillied up with no worries about being spotted. :D [/quote'] I think this is taken out of context. This came in response to people talking about many weapons missing from their bags, not just the L85 AWS. As far as I'm concerned the thermal was in a completely different class compared to any other weapon. There shouldn't be any active sight systems on any guns without charging or batteries. NVGs are equally unrealistic and overpowered for this stage in the game's development. Until duping, disconnecting, and spawn cheats have been fixed they just add to the grief of people without adding to the atmosphere of the world. Snipers are incredibly potent, take a look at your war history. Against single targets you are basically fucked. Against small groups, they can effectively destroy morale and group cohesion. Against a well organized group they are in significant danger if they fire their loud weapon. -
Yeah, the hangars are death traps and spawn shit. Stick to the barracks, fire station, and air control tower (The last two should be done only when bored.) You're better off riding around looking for helis though. Driving around is so fun and generally care free, don't go getting yourself killed :)

Vehicle sound is pretty obvious, but I don't think that it removes aggro from zombies already engaged... is that what you were recommending?
-
Zombies are not humans anymore, and are generally mindless. Tin cans are more effective than bullets, and smoke grenades clear whole towns. Until they change this idea it makes no sense for a human to play a zombie.

Check the other threads for long discussions on these topics, especially the NVG. Example: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=23281 NVGs and Thermal should be in the game, but they should be toned down a bit. People will not play in night servers until they are FORCED to play during the night. I personally love night play because the zombies are tame, and if it gets too dark it's a good excuse to log for the night!

This should be an iPhone app.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
jesquik replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Thanks' date=' man. I would look forward to the challenge, though most will probably say "Then everyone will be even MORE desperate!" The trick though, is that in this scenario, asking for help will be more beneficial than taking their items. The idea here is to give players more power than their items. I think that if this kind of change were to be made, it should all be unleashed in one big update...And everyone and everything gets wiped. Force everyone to live in fear and hopelessness again. [/quote'] A great way to make players useful is to give them skills that they gain from reading a book or some other similar mechanic. If everything remains item based, players will have no benefit beyond what they have in their pack. This will inherently lead to people killing others for their items. In a real zombie apocalypse you wouldn't kill a doctor, because the knowledge they have is more valuable than anything they are carrying. You wouldn't kill a farmer, because they can help you grow food. You wouldn't kill a mechanic because they can help you fix cars. While I don't really like the idea of 'classes' I think that people should have knowledges that allow them to do things. Not a doctor? You cannot do a transfusion. Not a mechanic? No engine repair. Want to be a mechanic? Search gas stations for manuals. Want to be a doctor? Search hospitals. Read 3 and you learn a skill. Once you're a mechanic put a wrench on your belt so it's obvious from a distance that you are useful. Doctor? Put a mask over your face or a red cross on your shoulders. -
What if DayZ added a single player mode? Hear me out.

I think the tent system that is currently implemented is pretty good, but they need to fix placement! Allowing people to spawn as a new person based on the deeds of their old character is something I would dislike and is likely outside the vision of the game.

Sounds like the VIP in counterstrike :)

A huge part of the issue here is not that NVGs are so common but that they are being duped or hacked into the game. Once that is fixed there will be less of an issue with people having NVGs . Additionally they should not be useable with scopes like on the DMR, that is just ridiculous. The more I see people complaining about playing on night time servers the more I think we should either have server based characters so that server hopping will be impossible or have all the servers synch their clocks so that everyone experiences night. I have had some of my best experiences at night, even though it's damn scary not being able to see farther than 10 feet.

Fully populated night servers / More NVGs
jesquik replied to wordplayuk@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would like NVGs to be battery powered, along with all other light sources. Flashlights could last 16 hours or something, NVGs would last 1-2 hours. Additionally, NVGs should not provide you with the ridiculous long distance vision they currently do. They also should be grainier. -

Character death should carry more weight
jesquik replied to Lukio (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Death is the easiest thing that happens to your character, not the hardest - You seem to be confusing this. Death should continue to be extremely easy - if you want to end it, end it. If you want to start and try again, there should be no barriers, because once you make the decision to survive that is when the real hardship begins. Yeah the 20 minutes thing. It was just a f**king example ok? This is about displaying your character death in a more profound way than currently implemented by the "You are dead" screen. A cutscene or a camera zooming out from your body laying on the floor for example. On this point I like the idea. What I would love to see is your gameplay being recorded automatically like it is in Halo 3 SP where you can go back and watch from a variety of angles - it only saves the data needed to recreate the game through the game engine not full motion video. THEN if that was complete, when you died your life was played BACKWARDS until you ended up on the beach again in a new location that would be a fucking phenomenal and memorable experience! -
Dear Rocket. We crave direction!
jesquik replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I love it. I feel like the forum is a sea of great ideas without any focus, and if those ideas continue to be spread widely and in old unused posts it will remain difficult to hold quality conversation. Some stickies on the forum for the most common and well thought out threads with some additional merging of similar ones would be very welcome! -
On exit: if shock is true stay on server
jesquik replied to grittafu's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This seems like a better idea than dropping unconscious the next time you enter, and would use the shock mechanic for a much greater purpose. -
Day Z endgame suggestion (Warning: long post)

I like this idea quite a lot. The zombie dynamics need to be improved first, but this could be a fantastic way to add to their 'character' down the road.

I didn't play San Andreas MP but this is likely the most fair way to stop disconnecting without hurting players not intending to glitch the system. There was a very good thread on this same thing recently, with a bit more detail. OP you should search for it and post a link to your thread, it will help get both ideas more views. I myself have used many disconnecting methods in order to understand their effectiveness, and they are without a doubt breaking the game. 1) Zombie aggro? Why waste your precious ammo, just disconnect! 2) Want to get through town quick? Run full sprint, then see #1 3) Player shooting at you? Just prone and disconnect! (And my favorite that I have seen but have not been able to reproduce) 4) Player kill you? Just disconnect, no body left to loot! As an alpha we are expected to find the holes in the game so that they can be fixed, and this is by far the worst thing affecting the game right now. I hope this is the reason that 1.7.2 is taking so long.

I was merely using this forum for what it is entitled, SUGGESTIONS. If you're too ignorant to allow people to post feedback which will further allow for a games development then you shouldn't be on this forum. It is great that you want to make suggestions, but spend some time searching for answers before you start preaching them. This is in the official patch notes for 1.7.2 and has been discussed quite sufficiently. That being said, I agree with you and I am looking forward to 1.7.2! In fact just the other day I was using my hatchet to take out zombies and my friend said 'you should be careful, you might break a leg' and as if by magic the next zombie hit I received broke my leg... resulting in an hour of searching for morphine.

It would be important for used clips to stay in the inventory as well, so you could have a few empty clips waiting to find bullets to fill them!

Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]
jesquik replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Did we get a indication of the map coordinates that are considered out of bounds? -
I am actually not fully sure whether helicopters have been re implemented but from all the posts on the forums they are not, so on the off chance that this is a cheat I will report what I saw: Required: * US 5 Chicago * 7:28 EST * Saw a helicopter flying north to Stary Sobor Again, if helicopters are back in the game after the database reset, please disregard. Thanks.

I laughed because of it's putrid flavor. Your editing needs work. Your story needs work. You're also a dick.
