Tents still duping/losing items 1.7.1.5
jesquik replied to kicktd's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I have only had luck with vehicles saving equipment, but even that is not fool proof. Vehicles are also tending to duplicate items, which is quite exploitable. I don't understand why tents and vehicles don't just automatically save whenever their state is changed. Add item? Save. Take out item? Save. Just saved? Wait 5 seconds then save! I find the whole saving when you want thing to be error prone and ripe for abuse. Please add an automatic save feature on top of fixing the tents! -
Character death should carry more weight

I don't agree with this entire thread.. except for this post! Best post of the year :) -
Anything that adds a handicap to a player for playing how they choose is no good and won't be accepted by the majority of the user base. It also isn't likely going to be accepted by Rocket who has clearly stated that banditry is a key component of the game. I do, however, like the idea of an insanity system, mostly because I have used them and seen them implemented in pen and paper games and because it worked out really well in the game Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Also, killing people in cold blood will make you insane in some way, and in a post-apoc game I can see it increasing paranoia the most. If you want to see how the system in the Cthulu games has been converted to the d20 system, check this out: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/sanity.htm This might give you some more ideas on how a real insanity system would be implemented. I would love to see something like random sounds, voices, gunshots, things like that. I will never support a handicap like shaking or slowness because it promotes one style of play too much. I support any system that adds atmosphere to the game, however, and if you can think of a way that insanity could add to the atmosphere of the game, I am on board!

Maybe he isn't a sniper, but instead hates snipers, and he's just pulling some social engineering on you? Tell us all the sniper spots!

Vehicles degrade very quickly when off the map to the point where it is very time consuming to keep things off map. Rocket has said that this is not the intent of the game, and will be fixed. This is in no way a priority. I find vehicles all the time, just try looking where you would hide a vehicle.

This one definitely seems a bit more stable than the last. Zeds are definitely more observant than they were previously, but that is alright by me. Walking in front of them if they are looking at you is now a very bad idea, even if they are quite far from you. No random issues with zombies spawning like in 1.7.2 although I have lost a few goats to what I am guessing is server cleanup before I can reach them and eat them :)

I felt like a f*ckin Navy SEAL after this! My first time in DayZ
jesquik replied to deaddem's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is fantastic! So glad to see that you took the story to it's conclusion. I suspect there will be much more of this when disconnecting is not a viable option. It tooks balls of steel to do what you did. Congratulations. -
How about you be a good sport and TEST THE GAME like you should be doing. Upgrade and test. Report Bugs. This is a free to play mod, and you are part of a community run operation to make a great game. Be a part of it.

I know it's tough losing equipment, but please set your expectations properly. This is an alpha, you are going to lose everything you have. When we switch to beta there will probably be a server wipe. When the main game is released there will likely be a server wipe. You are going to lose everything you have, over and over again! Set.Your.Expectations. No more crying my friend.

Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0
jesquik replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This looks great man. I wrote about this about a month ago, and there are a few other topics kicking around the forums. I'm glad this one is getting the attention it deserves! I appreciate the detail you go into, but I think that city power plants should be wood fired or coal fired, not gas. You couldn't power a city on gasoline effectively. Imagine you get lots of new players running back and forth between the woods and the power plant collecting wood for the furnace! This would be especially great if the trees could be chopped down if you harvested too much wood from them. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/10998-restoring-civilization/ I believe that restoring power should keep zeds away, but I understand why you feel different... they are attracted to flares in the game. If there ever is going to be any significant crafting of any kind, electricity should be required first. It might even be interesting if gas stations would work as long as there is power (the pumps.) -
next Patch: FIX D/C BEFORE NEW FEATURES
jesquik replied to osiriszoran's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Both issues must be stomped with equal force because they both break the game and our immersion. It allows people to be careless and get away with it. It makes careful deliberate play less useful instead of required. -
next Patch: FIX D/C BEFORE NEW FEATURES
jesquik replied to osiriszoran's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I completely agree as it makes the whole game a joke. Disconnecting and duping should be ironed out as a priority then the entire database should be wiped and we should all start over. Server hopping should come in at a close second. @Nebo You're missing the point. You don't fix exploiters by only shooting them in the head because you are still left with a broken game mechanic. I've shot people in the head, saw that they died, and received a bandit/murder and watched as they disconnected and took their corpse with them. It's absolute nonsense. You also don't seem to care about addressing the way we can just make every zed disappear by disconnecting instead of using ammo and giving off our position. Ever since everyone realized you could just disconnect the servers got a lot quieter. -
I'm not sure you are playing the same game as everyone else. It's not 'very easy' to get good gear from heli sites. First you have to stumble on them, then you have to take your chances with the gear rolls. I have only seen one AS50 and I've been to 20+ heli crashes. If this guy got his loot from anywhere it was from killing other players not driving around striking it rich on the golden heli at the end of the rainbow. Judging by his 3 AS50s and everything else, and that he wasn't on point enough to keep a guy from stealing his vehicle I would say most signs point to suspicious duping/cheating. I've gotten at least one of every weapon in the game, and in no way are AS50s so easy to get that they should be expected whenever you see a heli.

Still a horrible idea. If you get shot and you don't die, there are epi pens and bandages to save your life. There are also blood bags to return your health. Defib will just push this towards Battlefield defib spamming for everyone's loss.

Zombies are incredibly unpredictable. While they work significantly better when they DO work, they do not always work as they are supposed to. I caught aggro in a field with no zombies around after shooting my mp5sd at a goat. Zombie teleported, got disappeared. I also got a zombie that saw me from a long way away. When they work, however, they are much more manageable!
-
You're supposed to be testing and adding to the game not duping and killing off players because of your fat loot. I have lots of great stuff in my stash but I think a database wipe would bring some sanity back to the over duplicated nonsense that I see going on. It will also allow everyone to really test the zombie mechanics again and give us a new thrill.
-
It is stuff like this that makes me want to have a wipe of all characters on major patches and force servers to use the newest betas. We are all testing the game, this isn't a pleasure cruise! Expect to die to bugs, wipes, and more bugs.
-
Yeah, I was in the same boat. Lost a vehicle though!
-
Yeah this happens with cars too. On US 5 over the weekend every vehicle on the map went away after their 1am server reset. They came back the next day.
-
While this could happen by a player taking it, I also lost a car. I had assumed it was a player but I was surprised because the other car near it with tons of loot in it was untouched.
-
Definitely has been happening to me as well, but this was even before 1.7.2. I had one vehicle that saved things properly, but two that did not - everything after log was wiped. I was driving one today and I put raw meat in and it was instantly gone. Server: US 5

Well if they aren't hitting your leg as much... I guess all that probability gets lumped into the head option! Head shots, the new broken legs! Oh wait, people are breaking bones too.. hmm maybe they just stopped hitting the body?

Regarding Genders, Skins & Teleportation
jesquik replied to Magnet (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yeah, I'm going to have to go with ^^ That. I still think people should use skins, because it tests the alpha, but they don't appear in any way to be SAFE. -
How are we supposed to test the game if we stay away from items? Yeah they could be bugged, but when there is a new patch players should be testing all things, not avoiding buggy items and rolling back to a previous patch because they might die. The game won't progress if we all act so selfishly.

Sorry man, sucks to hear. I can't begin to list the stuff I've lost over bugs. That being said, get over it and either wait for a finished product or play and report bugs (Your only two options.) We aren't going to get gear replaced, just continue to enjoy the game for what it is and if you have any recommendations, preach!
