Required: * Server this happened on. US 10 Chicago * Time that it happened including your timezone. 8:58 PM EST * What happened during the incident. I was in the forest west of Zelenogorsk and all of a sudden my legs break, I fall down and I lose quite a bit of blood. I heard no gunshots, and I had been scanning the area prior to this happening. This happened at the exact same time to my friend who was standing close to me. Just before this happened a guy named Security joined and there was lots of server messages saying that his files did not match the expected signature. I also was not moving. EDIT: Another friend that was nearby logged in and there were lots of trees knocked down in the area. We have some screenshots of the entire top of the hill leveled which a friend will add later.

No problem, I'm just happy that I remembered the name!

I can provide exact coordinates if you wish.

If you want to push for a kickstarter project to get DayZ off the ARMA 2 engine and onto something better (see the Crytek 3 posting) I would support that.

The reason snipers are so content hunting players from far away is that they have no incentive to get to a player's corpse. I have an idea that could help with that, possibly, and simultaneously give people a good reason to kill zombies! http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/36290-give-me-dem-teeth/

The bandit survivor dynamic is COMPLETELY broken until disconnecting is fixed. There is absolutely no reason to chance someone disconnecting when you have the chance to kill them. This changes the game into a hardcore FPS, nothing more. Once disconnecting is rendered impossible I would hope to see more people getting robbed and the like.

I would like to see a player easily be able to express their intentions from a distance.

Shoot on sight will never go away if people can effectively disconnect from encounters. -
How low has your blood gone? Post pictures and stories! I was in the tents at Stary and had gotten smacked by a zombie before heading north away from the city. I guess the zombie had snagged my neck because I was leaking blood like a faucet and before I knew it I was at 200 blood. I went to my gear, realized there was no bandage, grabbed one from my pack and started wrapping.... 160... 120... 100... 70... 60... 20... 13...8... until it settled on: 1.88989 Thankfully I was able to get out of the city and eventually headed south looking for an animal to kill... Instead I found a crashed heli and looted an m249 off it. Somehow I snuck by all the zombies and nearly died twice from fainting. Then the next time I logged in I was in the debug wilderness! Thankfully this game burns memories into your head, so I don't care that I lost all my loot. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559820086492713123/0B1A61280D3A271EDCBA759E934A3E8144D33006/

Good point. Next time I do something like this and think I have some pretty impressive numbers I will let people post for a while first... I just thought that people wouldn't be interested in the topic if I didn't post a good picture :)

I've lost more L85s than you're probably ever going to see. I have a strange attraction to high powered weapons and the tents of other people. I find all kinds of things roaming around the world thinking to myself 'where would I hide my stuff.' Also roaming the server on vehicles looking for heli crashes after server restarts never hurts. Another thing that doesn't hurt: When you steal something from another person's camp, don't disconnect 8 minutes later. I have never successfully secured anything from any other competent group without spending 30 minutes creeeping in and 30 minutes gtfo'ing. I would feel pretty stupid if I stumbled upon a white pickup (The easiest thing in the game to spot), drove it 400m and ran around looking to get shot only to escape with half my team dead AND THEN only drive SOUTH for 10 minutes before thinking I was safe.... You have a lot to learn about this game before beta. Also, regarding hacking.... we don't hack. I play this game and test a variety of exploits in an attempt to uncover what other people are doing to fuck up the game. I report anything that I find. If you are intent on criticizing everyone as hackers, please leave, let the adults test this game, and come back when mom can buy it for you at Gamestop. -

Sykotix, is there any way that you could add a server restart notification? I would absolutely love to know 10 minutes before it happens! I'm looking forward to things that you might be implementing! -

This server has been kinda fucked. Just the other night I was crouched by a tree after checking everything nearby. Went to chat on Steam and I heard footsteps, before I could close chat and turn I was dead. This was near Polana on Dubina, and I was flabbergasted by the whole thing. Sure I guess that could happen if the dude logged in... but it just seemed wrong.... Either way, it's all good. Shit happens. Anyways, about the tent raiding. I do remember seeing lots of markers on the maps with funny slogans that day. I had a good chuckle thinking about all the people that would be crying on that day and how many fucks I would give. After uncovering a tent city directly north of Olsha mountain me and a friend took out a guy with a FN ANPV as he was trying to drive a car out of the camp. It's a shame he didn't check the tires first. Oh and it was quite fun hiding his body after eating his beans. I have been pointing that camp out on the map ever since... If that is your camp OP, sorry about it - I just want other people to come show you a good time! I doubt you are being hacked... there are other smart players on this server :) -
I honestly want to see less one shot kill weapons, but if they must be in the game have it take up a backpack slot. I've used the anti-tank rocket before and it is not really any different in size than the AS-50.
-
Great idea, but until disconnecting is fixed surrendering won't be common. Why risk it?

Those were some beautiful videos! Thanks for sharing. I think that using an better engine is the way of things. I heard that ARMA 3 was based on ARMA 2 which makes me cringe... they have the realism, but so much is lost on the engine.
-
Thanks for the links, it's nice to get everyone looking at comparable ideas. I think that being able to use the vest pouch like an extra backpack would be great, and taking up the secondary slot is a fantastic tradeoff for 6 extra slots, in fact it could just turn your secondary equipment area into an additional primary area (8 slots I believe?).
-
Yes, ghillies hide your backpack.
-
I don't agree with the majority of this, but I do think that low caliber inaccurate weapons should be the things most people have. AKs and M4s are just not going to be dropping from the heavens. I honestly would love to see a 'condition' modifier in the game so that you could get a really nice AK or a nearly broken one. Sure the nearly broken AK works, but you only use that thing in an emergency.

Please fully read what I wrote. It's not just a currency. It's not just a kills counter. It's something you can do in a sandbox that may have unknown results. Also, I apologize for not consulting my economics textbook, but I am fairly certain that there would be no problem with teeth being a currency. There would be a controlled way of acquiring them (killing zombies) and way to lose them (dying alone or someone takes them from you). If anything the constant acquisition of teeth from people would lead to high inflation if there was no 'sink' for the teeth. Then again.. this isn't just about a currency. Edit: Also, they cannot be 'found' in game, they aren't random spawns. You have to actively do something to get them. It's a resource that you can collect.
-
Nice, I like the way you thought about that. It does provide a disincentive towards killing people from far away for no reason. If you don't get the teeth, nobody is going to believe you're a badass!
-
Again, excellent thoughts on this. I must say that you are winning my support :) I'll give this my +1 because it's alpha and this is the time to try things!

An all-round solution to alt-F4 & server hopping
jesquik replied to chaR's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Nicely stated, and I agree that disconnecting is the number two problem with the game right now, right after duping. As far as your reply to my idea, please don't take the extreme (200m) as what I said... I gave a range for a reason - play testing is the only way to figure out the correct number. Also, I don't care if your friend found a heli on another server and you want to server hop. Get out of the town and into the woods then log. Going into a city should be dangerous AND a dedicated mission. If you were in a real zombie apocalypse you certainly would never camp in town unless you had a fortified area. -
need the ability to give yourself a blood transfusion
jesquik replied to tank77's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Umm, read the response you got from Dez? That's what it has to do with. You know, the discussion you were having. You aren't being forced to play with other people, and there are other ways to get back blood if you want to be a loner. Bloodbags are the first in a long line of future mechanics that will promote cooperation. Why do they promote cooperation? Because cooperation is how things get done. You think your life is hard, imagine if there was nobody farming your grains, making your power, protecting you from crime, or piping you fresh water. I think you underestimate how much you need other people to do anything in life (This game is trying to replicate what it would be like in a zombie apocalypse, with as much fun added in as possible without ruining it.)
