Too much complaining about 3rd person view

Turn off head bob and you should find comfort.

Too much complaining about 3rd person view

3rd person breaks a bunch of the mechanics in the game that make it immersive (The most important thing this game has going for it and the reason your heart rate soars when you hear gunfire.) You crash and break the windshield on your vehicle? Whatever, just go 3rd person! You're in the air control tower at an airfield, prone behind a wall? No worries, just 3rd person and you can see all around you! Trying to scope out what that guy is doing at the cafe in Cherno, but you're standing behind a concrete wall because you're scared of being shot at? Easy! Just go into 3rd person and watch him until he leaves, then shoot him in the back!

    Wierd occurance

Wow, you suck! :) All I can think of is how much better this story would be if you just got in...
  4. How is this an exploit? You are staying in one area and risking your life every second you stay. If you do this at the NW airfield your presence will eventually be seen by someone else interested in looting the barracks too. Zombies spawn around the barracks giving away your position. If anything this is just ballsy play, and I do it too. If the spawning of loot wasn't broken, and didn't rely on server restarting then we wouldn't need to do this. It is clear from the way it was coded that if you remove a spawn, the next time the server calculates spawn chance * loot spawn there could be a new pile. Get over yourself.

    Rangefinder with thermalvision

Yup I can confirm this one. I cannot always reproduce it, but it's particularly useful... and horribly wrong!
  6. Required: * Server this happened on: US 5 * Time that it happened including your timezone: 4:03pm EST * What happened during the incident: I was teleported along with another player to somewhere around 018054 and after convincing the other guy not to attack me we started running south. Soon after I heard silenced M4 shots and disconnected. I had heard footsteps behind me for some time and I saw nobody. I looked around when I heard the shots and saw nobody.
  7. You have to fix everything (Including the windscreens)... we haven't fully confirmed this because our disappeared on server reset and respawned fresh and broken. We were only 2 windscreens away too :]
  8. Sounds like you got your moneys worth! This is why not shooting on sight is great, it makes for scenes that you won't see in another game.

    Forgeting to save a Car

Sometimes it takes more than one server restart for vehicles to come back. Make sure you record the location and check back after another restart.
  10. We had a chopper and it disappeared and respawned at the island on server reset. We were in the air at the time, which scared the hell out of us, but luckily we ended up back on the ground safely. We checked all the spots we saved it but no luck... I will file a bug report on this, but this seems like a really mean way to admin abuse or to have really horrible luck. Considering we spent about 3 hours fixing the thing...
  11. Having significant trouble loading into the game with the new patch. Going to try some different servers and report back! Edit: Nope! Definitely cannot connect to any servers now. Stuck at loading.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

Yes, all players beans are tasty, there is no way of avoiding that. I don't really understand what you are saying... You mean to tell me that wiping all the servers will cause everyone to get to the same level of security they are at now with duping of items happening on the scale that it is? Most of the good weapons you think you got because of luck off a dead person or random tent are from duping. Things get duped, people die and those weapons cascade down the player ranks into the hands of everyone. Good weapons do not spawn as commonly as they are found off players.
  14. Yup, definitely needs to be fixed along with a server wipe to level out the ridiculous weapon inflation going on.
  15. Worse than tents are vehicles. Tents seem to just be unreliable, yet vehicles are the ultimate duping machine. For some reason I do not see any posts related to this. I tried to post my own, but it has not been approved by a moderator. Maybe someone else will be able to help out where I failed. Anyone else aware of vehicles allowing for duping to occur? (No need to specify the method)

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

Hey trollface, this has nothing to do with my gear, if I go to Cherno/Elecktro YOU will be wiped out and I will enjoy your delicious beans. I have tons of good gear, on multiple servers so this would be a 'loss' for me, yet I want people to start from scratch to help avoid the ridiculous duping that is rampant. Item inflation is off the charts, and the only way to combat it is to reset everything to zero. Everyone starting over will create some very interesting scenarios that will be fun to play through. I suppose we should wait until duping has been fixed before doing anything drastic, but it needs to happen soon.

Oh and if someone hasn't mentioned it already... Can we get the military offroad trucks back? The amount of single/double vehicles in this game is discouraging.

I didn't think that anything short of disconnect timers or some other more complicated mechanic would work but you sold me! A data-driven approach is the way to catch people. Log out on one server, log in on another, then kill 3 people? Very bad. Get shot at, disconnect, switch to another server and heal up? Very bad. This is fantastic and I can't wait to see how this plays out! Also, could we get a database wipe so that we can get start with a clean slate? I feel like this is also the best way to get clean data.
  19. Vehicles are reddish I think.. but then again I'm red/green color blind :D

    Give me 'dem teeth

Yesterday as I was racking up zombie kills, I realized that the debug window will someday disappear and with it the zombie kill count. This makes me sad, as killing zombies is a favorite pastime and losing track of the amount I have killed is devastating. So while thinking about this I decided that we need to be able to collect something from zombies and the first thing that came to mind was teeth, which got me thinking that teeth should be a lootable token from each zombie kill. If we can loot teeth from zombies, and keep them, when we die or someone kills us there will be a record of how many zombies you killed. But even better would be if people could loot them off your body and people start collecting large amounts of teeth, allowing them to become a commodity. While there is currently no trading in the game, teeth could become a currency, allowing people to 'mine' the world for teeth and trade them for loot with other players if there ever came a day when trading was provided in game. Additionally, groups like the Freeside Trading company would have a way for people to purchase goods from them, or sell goods to them. So how do we 'mine' teeth then? With pliers of course! If you have the pliers item, you can creep over to the corpses of slain zombies and extract a tooth, creating additional risk to get this item. Once a tooth is extracted it goes to your tool belt, so it doesn't take up real inventory space. Hold on there, this may be all well and good, but what about the bandits! Well they should be able to extract human teeth too, one per person. When you kill a bandit you will know because they have human teeth on them. Perhaps they wear the human teeth on a necklace around their neck to proudly show off their trophies. Maybe they hide them deep in their tool belt to avoid suspicion. Either way, they have verifiable proof of a murder. Maybe in order to prove your mettle to a bandit gang you need to get them 5 human teeth or perhaps they want 100 zombie teeth. Core Idea: 1) Teeth should be lootable from players and zombies. 2) Pliers should be added (or perhaps just require the toolbox) to facilitate the removal. 3) Teeth become a commodity that may be used to trade or for role playing.

Possible hacking on US 5 (unrepentant)

The only problem I have with the server at this point is that it is running horribly and there is no warning before a restart. If I didn't already have 4 vehicles and so much equipment there I would already be on another server. Example: I was on US 10 the other day and got nuked. I posted the incident on the cheating forum and not 5 minutes later the admin responded and told me he was looking into it. In about 20 minutes he came back with his findings, and told me that he found the player. I don't think that would happen on US 5. I like being on a server that is cared for.
  22. So nice of you to make a reasonable argument on your behalf. Now we know how clever and competent you are! Good work.

    Removal of all gear.

It actually makes more sense to continue as is for testing because there are lots of players testing out end game gear. Stuff that takes hours/days to acquire if you're lucky. Why would you reset that if you can just let it play out? There is very little obligation to make things 'fair'. The current state of duping and disconnecting is a way to see how we all behave and respond. We are helping to remove these problems from the game by playing with them and reporting when things are not 'right.'
  24. While I mostly agree with you on this, I think that it would be beneficial for players to have to learn certain crafting/repair/medic skills that allow them to be better equipped to help other players. With those skills comes identifying marks - masks over face for a medic, wrench on your belt for a mechanic... Skills can be learned from books. I think it fits in line with the atmosphere of the game, and makes people worth more than just their equipment - which is what the OP is hoping to achieve ( I believe ).
