How to avoid Hackers (Official Hives Only)
V2_Danny replied to V2_Danny's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You are right about the large ammount of tents on several Russian servers, but for conventional hackers (teleporting, godmode etc.) it seems to be a bit lower compared to a western server of the same size. -
I think its because many people who play games are young, and are lacking a steady source of income. They might only be able to buy a couple of games per year out of their own pocket, and therefor they do not want to spend any unless they are 100% they will like the game.

Help! Spawned on coast with nothing!
V2_Danny replied to NightZ22's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Your body will be where you logged out before dying, but only on the server where you died, and only untill the server next restarts (or someone else finds and cleans up your deceased corpse). See it as a fresh start, without illigal gear. -
You do know you have actually not posted a suggestion. You have told us that you have an idea, and linked us to a website apperently containing the idea, but neither this post or the afforementioned website tells us anything concrete. Character development, 4 classes with skills, with big fancy titles on them. No word about what the classes actually do, or what is required to train the specific skills. No comparing it to the game of today, and what it could change. No explanations, no general information. I kinda like the idea, and you say you will update, but please dont make a new topic untill you have something a bit more concrete. That will also get more people unto your idea.

Because its that easy just to "make" a map. All the current DayZ maps are based upon months of research by professional map designers and coders. Even if someone would start making it, there is no possible way for it to be finished before the standalone release, which makes it rather pointless. Im not saying its a bad idea, im just saying give thought to how much work it takes to create a 200 square kilometer map.
-
Your statement is false. There is. I know for a fact that the AS50 and other .50 cals can shoot trough wooden barn walls. I have tested it both in and outside of DayZ. Go check it yourself.

Personally i do not agree with all of your ideas, but its all personal opinions, and i respect yours, like you hopefully respect mine. I dont like the idea of NPC,s. Just the knowlage that there is people on the map that will pontentionally help you takes away from the uncertainess of DayZ. The core part of the mod is human interaction. And if you have NPC,s where you know what their actions will be, it takes away from the feeling of having to trust or interact with other human beeings. I like the ideas of adding more random loot spawns (truck crashes, beached military boat, etc.), and i like the idea of more vehicles. I also you think you should be able to harvest parts from the broken down cars you see all over the roads. Loot is not as tight focused as you make it out to be. I have between 200-300 hours of playtime in DayZ and ive been to the airfield 2 times, Stary 2, Cherno 3 and Elektro 1. Anything needed to survive can be gotten in any supermarket and a deerstand. Anyone who goes to the airfield, Stary or Cherno/Elektro properly deserves to get shot :P

And this is why I don't bother with anything but PvP
V2_Danny replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If someone wants to find a camp, they will properly find one. First you go along the western map edge, and then along the northern, zigzagging the forrests there. And hiding a camp inland almost never works. Someone will find your camp at some point its inevitable. -
You need to put more on offer if anyone will be willing to trade that. The MK48 is a ultra rare, most effective non-sniper pvp weapon in the game. Getting that in a trade costs more than a FAL, and a bit of gear (most people who have a MK48 will have suits and NVG,s)

Bandits are not a problem. Not at all. They are the thing that keeps me playing DayZ. If i could just waltz into a town or a city without any fear (zombies are not a threat at all, not even when you dont have a weapon), the game would loose what makes me keep playing it. On the surface its a buggy, hard to learn, slow paced zombie survival game. But underneath its a unique experience. Its the only game that will give me an actual adrenaline rush, or heartbeating. It makes death something to fear, in any other shooter death is just a annoyance, you do not loose anything but KD or money or experience, whatever. Thats frustrating cause its not a setback, it just taunts you. In DayZ you loose everything, and its therefor much more tense. Removing that aspect that makes the game so good, or limping the aspect is pointless.

Does Army Of The Czech Republic Lite affect DayZ?
V2_Danny posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The Army Of The Czech Republic (ACR) DLC for Operation Arrowhead got released not to long ago, and the lite version of it goes via another mod i enjoy playing on ArmA 2: OA (Wasteland), but i have not been able to since ACR came out, since im not sure if installing the lite version will damage DayZ. So can anyone tell me if installing ACR Lite has any effect on DayZ. And if it does, is there a workaround. Thanks. -
All the survivors are in chernarus because it was already modelled in the engine. Nuff said.

Yesterday i took a step towards becoming what i allways thought i wouldn´t. I killed someone completely on purpose. Me and a friend had just logged in up at Guba bay, after the nighttime, low pop server we had been playing on had restarted. It was bright as day, and a cascade of rare lightblue text flourished on the screen. A side channel! We stared in wonder at the serverwide communication going on in both Russian and English! We start entering the conversations, and quickly get to know of a man named "Molotow", heading towards our area to do a tent run. After discussing for a bit we decide to ask him if he wants to meet up with us, while a small voice in the back of our heads was telling us not to trust him. While waiting fro him to arrive we started getting more paranoid about him killing us. He was talking abous his gear as something easy to get, and that he was properly walking into a trap, but he had decided to trust someone for once in his life. We finally decide to give him a brain piercing when we find him. Me and Andrew where carrying inmense ammounts of gear (4 satchel sharges, 4 pairs of NVG,s, A AS50, A L85A2, A MK48, A Barret), and we did not want to risk it. Suddenly we spot him, and we allow him to come up and say hello, where upon i shoot him 2 times in the head with the MK48. He semi-rage in chat, and then quits. He had amazing gear, pretty much like us (wondering why he´d even want to do a tent run), and a radio. So he might have beeing carrying scripted gear, or hed found a scripter tent. Even so ever we did not regret shooting him, and agreed that it was his fault for trusting us. I still wonder if it was his fault...

READ BEFORE POSTING HATEFULL REPLY! Ok, i want to put something clear here. The AS50 TWS is a overpowered sack of shit, and in any other situation it should be removed from the games code. The reason for this question is simply the sheer number of these weapons in the game. Scripted and hacked it, they sit in hands of scripters who have a massive advantage over anyone else in the game. And we cannot return the favor because of different reasons: 1. You dont want to cheat. 2. You are afraid to get banned upon joining a server In any case it leaves us at a disadvantage. There is no other weaponary in the game that reaches the lethality of the AS50 TWS. Adding the gun would allow us to bring the fight back to the scripters, without a penalty. Pros: Scripters would loose their advantage, and fair fights would be more common. Many would have the weapon due to the insane number added, and duped in tents across all servers. Cons: All other weapons in the game would be outclassed. Scripters would be able to script in the weapon without fear of getting kicked/banned. It would make the ammount of snipers ALOT higher. Im not choosing sides, im currently in the middle of this. I would like to see what is the opinion of the community. While i hate the AS50 TWS, i also hate beeing killed by a hacker, with guns he technically cannot have. Vote what you think. (Also if you can think of more logic Cons or Pros, please post them, and i will add them to this post.)

Here is a treat for anyone who wants to test themselves on their DayZ wisdom. Its a powerpoint setup, and it will automaticly take you trough the game, as long as you follow the rules im setting up here: You may NOT click on screen if your mouse curser is a arrow. you may only click when it is a hand icon. If you click while its an arrow, the selection will not work, and you have to redownload. To start the game open the file, and select start powerpoint (from the dropdown menu), and let it run from there. But download the powerpoint, and test yourself and your friends on DayZ. Making DayZ harder (less bandits?)
V2_Danny replied to Snablas's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you get deceases easily, antibiotics need to be waaaay more common, and not only to be found in hospitals. I have antibiotics in my house, so it would make sense to make them a rare spawn in residential/industrial/military spawns. And a semi normal spawn in hospitals. If not everyone would be running around beeing sick, and the game might as well just start you off with 6k blood. On another note making the game harder would create more bandits, not remove them. I play in a big group, and we normally dont kill other people (we are not required, we can survive avoiding other players), but if zombies got harder and thougher, and there was less food to be found in the cities... I would take up banditing as a lifestyle, because that would generally be easier than risking the life going into a city. It would also make the gab between new spawn and advanced survivors even bigger. I sometimes take on a new player to show him the ropes nowadays, even though he can be annoying, and attract fuckloads of zombies. If the game was alot harder i would not bother to help new spawn, because it would be such a high risk to my own life. Building a fire or going into a house while freezing ingame, does fix your temprature.... -
Find yourself dieing alot? Finding that a snipers mark constantly hovers above you, or that you smell extra good to the zombies? Fear no more, we can help! Apart from the cheesy sales speech, i have a offer for 2 players. The average time of life in DayZ is according to the website around one hour. The first time i touched DayZ i played for 4. And the same with the people i play with. So im offering survival training to 2 people. I have had several characters above 30 days, and one over 50 so i know my survival. On top of that my friend, who has a 160 day character will give tips. Surviving is not necesarily staying in a forrest, its raiding smartly too. If you are interested please post this information below: Age: Skype: Steam: Nationality: Time available to play: Rules: Atleast 16 of age. Atleast 30 hours of DayZ playtime, and knowlage of the game. Answer this question: What is the best route to loot if spawning at Kamenka?
-
As i said i am completely biased in this matter. Its more a community temprature gauge, that it is an actual suggestion, and it seems like people would not want it in the game, which i can totally understand.

Get rid of Snipers completely?
V2_Danny replied to noobsmcgee@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Removing snipers would not solve anything. The FAL AN/PVS-4, the M14, the L85A2 would replace the snipers. I can do 600+ meter shots with the FAL without to much trubble. While these weapons are rarer, and harder to find than a sniper rifle, it will not lessen the ammount of snipers. If would just further the gap between new spawn and advanced players. On another note if you run around any city, that has any kind of good loot, or a high ammount of player traffic, you deserve to get shot. Ofcourse the odd snipe will happen outside of the hotspots, but the problem is not the snipers camping big cities, its all the players creating a fuckload of traffic in the area, and thereby attracting snipers. If people would spread more out on the map (anything possible to get in Chernogorsk or Elektrozavodsk can be found in a a deerstand + any city in the game), the snipers would have no reason to set up, since there would be no proper hotspots. -
And so it slowly dawns on me... Dayz sucks.
V2_Danny replied to xdarc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think this is Dayz´s biggest problem. Not the hackers, not the hardship of learning the map, the controls, the game. And not the zombies, as they can be outrunned. Its not the PvP either. While PvP in itself is annoying for the one who draws the shortest straw its one of the things that makes DayZ good. The problem, which he so thoughtfully described, is the gab from new player to veteran. The people like me who started playing this game in May and before that, and have stuck with it since, are so setup, with good gear, camps, equipment, often their own server. And a mentality of giving noone a chance. For one not to loose the gear, for the second not having to drag someone around who is properly gonna get them killed. So a new player gets the game, have no idea how the game works, have properly heard alot of good teamwork stories online. He then tries to contact the first person he meets, whereupon that person shoots him on sight. After that has happend with every person he runs into, he starts getting annoyed. And unless he have buddies to help him, he properly wont get any help. Not many experienced players are going to want to drag him around if asked on a forum. If you want DayZ to be alot of fun you need to play with people (i know a few play as lone wolfs, but not many, except new players), and there just arent anyone willing to team up who knows the game. And a new player cannot help a new player. More communication requested. -
Looking for group members for livestream series.
V2_Danny replied to Altairax's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Depends on when you will be doing it. Im a busy man :P -
When the hacker problems are gone, then we can start talking about removing quick logout. I do realise some people abuse the logouts, but if a hacker comes after me with a golden AK74 in a flying boat, i dont want to wait 10 seconds before escaping.
-
DISCLAIMER: I have searched the forum, and i have not found a suggestion like this. If i missed it, let me know. Me and all the people i play with have been tossing this idea around, and i thought it should get it suggested if it ever have a chance of happending. A helicopter in DayZ is a rare, and extremely effective way of transport, and assault. And it should be rare, but i think another could be added without ruining the prestige of having one. It should ofcourse be a russian made chopper, and it should be one without any mounted weapons, so as it stays transport only. I do belive a weaponless version of the MI-8 exists in Arma 2, and should be able to be added too the mod without to much trubble. It should also have more mid-map spawn points, so you dont have to trek across the wastes. It would give more than 1 group the chance of having a helicopter. If one group had both, it would give them a much easier choice of flying (if you only have one, you are reluctant to use it, in case you loose it). That would remove the current situation that many helicopters sit idle, since the owners fear crashing or loosing it if they use it. Let me know if there is any support for this idea.
-
Not many, but adding a unarmed transport helicopter wouldn´t break the game, and it would give the groups who dont have their own server, but a big enough group to have a helicopter, a chance to get one. (A high percentage of helicopters are with admin groups.)

How to be a giant troll in DayZ: Step 1: Find a server containing several tent camps. Step 2: Find a tent containing a FAL, or AS50. Step 3: Take as many AS50´s and FAL´s you can carry, without dropping your primary of choice (unless it is a FAL or AS50 ofc). Step 4: Pitch a tent and store all valuable gear in that. Step 5: Switch to a high population server, and go to the coast. Step 6: Find a newly spawned player, and give him a FAL or AS50 with no ammo. Step 7a: Have a unseen friend shot him, and make him believe it was a random bandit. Step 7b: After giving him the weapon, fall back, but don´t loose sight. Step 8: Follow the player as he searches for ammo (if he does). Step 9: If the player finds a crash site, and seemingly finds ammo, shoot him instantly. (if player is killed before finding ammo: By zombies. Retrieve weapon. By bandits: Abandon weapon unless all bandits or snipers have been spotted.) Step 10: Laugh When you get geared up it is a easy laugh. And if the new spawn play their cards correctly, they could get away with a very good weapon. There is no risk involved for you, since you stored all your important gear in a well hidden tent. I have had many funny moments with this. For example: We had just given this guy a a FAL, and had taken him into the treeline (no unnecessary risks needed), and he suddenly tells us that a friend of his is coming in a chopper to pick him up, and if we wanted a lift? Eyeing an opportunity, we quickly take him up on his offer, and shortly after a helicopter comes into sight. We go to the landing location, and when the helicopter lands, we say hello to the pilot with 6 7,62 rounds to the chest. The friend stands next to the corpse, asking us why we did that. We tell him nothing except that he can keep the helicopter, but he was to wait atleast 3 minutes before getting in, and we will kill him if he tries to get away before that (im not convinced we could have hit that shot, since the bushgrowth was quite high). While i have been talking to him, my friend has placed a Satchel Charge timed on 2 minutes, and we run for it. After 1½ minutes of running we turn around, and watch the big fireball. Karma bit us in the ass when we got sniped by a hacker 1 hour later (2 kilometers apart in different directions, both instantly dropped by a guy in a building, and i do know it was him since i was close to the building, and my friend 2 kilometers into a forrest.) I cannot be 100% he was hacking, but he did have laser guided eyesight if thats not the case.
