    -=BEARDS=-

Well for me it isn't, I should have written it like you ("problem"). I'm referring to the "problem" some people have with bandits. They keep seeking for "solutions", which somehow make a bandits life harder (identification, insanity). If you'd be a bandit and everyone could tell you're one because of the beard (or whatever), you'd try to get rid of that "hint" which shows you've killed some people, because with the hint other people, are more likely to kill you immediately since they think you might kill them as well. This is clearly a disadvantage for bandits (the so called "solution" some people seek for their "problem"). In real life your only way to find out if someone is trying to kill you or not is to judge that persons behavior, I think that's the way it should stay in DayZ. Maybe I should add that I'm not bandit in the game and I always try to communicate with others, but I think creating disadvantages for bandits takes out some excitement of the game. It's not the same to try to communicate with someone if you already know if that person is dangerous or not... ;) Additionally, what if a bandit attacks you and you manage to defend yourself (which basically means killing him), you'd be "marked" as a bandit even though you aren't one...

    Player made Quest board

TrueMaybe something like a paper (like regular loot) where it tells out of the perspective of a "survivor" where he stored some really nice loot before he died. "They've become too many... (bla bla) I'm here (location) with my last bullet (bla bla) may my (whatever loot) be helpful to whoever finds it" So the quest would be to find that spot and retrieve the loot. As long as each spot is unique, it keeps bandits away, as long as they don't put the note somewhere, to let somebody else find it, but that would take a lot of time...

    [Suggestion] Giant Voice

I like it, but like you said, you'd need power for it and I think a generator next to it seems kind of unrealistic, maybe only in the biggest city. I've been in the US and I've seen them, but I've never been to Russia, do they have those?

    Player made Quest board

What about an ingame quest editor? That's my idea: You'd need a paper (or more) , a pen, and a shovel. When creating a quest, you write something on the paper, then drop it somewhere (those papers shouldn't disappear like bodies), and then use the shovel to dig a hole and "hide" the reward for the quest. Then if somebody finds the paper they see your written quest and the reward (written by the editor). So if somebody solves the quest that person should find the reward or another paper where the location of the reward is stated.
  5. I don't think it's really necessary, (cancel > lay down > drink) works fine.

I love that idea! Only problem, dropped stuff will disappear. How could you solve that?

    -=BEARDS=-

Again one of those "let's try to find something against bandits" posts... I really can't see them anymore. It seems people somehow try to find a way to stop people from killing each other, no matter how weird that idea is (why should you get messy hair if you kill people???). There's been the insanity level, mental health, visible attributes... This will not solve the problem! You'd rather have to ask the question; why are people killing each other? My answer to this question is, I think it's because life in DayZ isn't dangerous enough, so people get bored. If we wait until the game becomes more complex, zombies more dangerous and life harder, the problem will solve itself. I like the beard growing idea though, maybe women should become long hair (men too maybe). It would be so badass to run around with long messy hair and a manly beard...

    new item watch

Yes, I'd like watches Maybe also watches with an automatic clockwork. So I when you find it and it's still running, the time is probably right, if not the time is probably wrong, but you could change the time and while wearing it the movement is enough to make it running again.

    The Way it should be

I prefer it when people clearly state their basic idea, instead of some weird solution to it (which is sadly pretty common here), because then we can work on a solution to the basic idea and not write why the posted solution is probably not working. I guess the basic idea is to prevent server hopping somehow, right? A better solution to it would be to force people on servers (like in world of tanks) and when people want to play together they can gather into a group and then join a server together.

    The Way it should be

Even more important, it's nearly impossible to play with your friends....

    The Way it should be

Well, think about it... There are too many problems, if you can solve them all (properly), you'll have my beans: - What if your server shuts down? All your stuff is gone. - What if you go to another continent? Your server won't be listed in the search and when you join manually your ping will he horrible. (I'm expecting that right now when playing with my friends from Europe) - What if your Server doesn't update right after a new update? You'd have to wait until it updates, which can sometimes can take a few weeks - What if your server changes the configuration and you don't want to play with that configuration anymore, e.g. from regular to hardcore. - What if your server changes the location and the ping becomes bad? I guess we can agree that it's just not useful.

    Different types of ropes

Hi, There are many ideas for the usage of ropes http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/198043-uses-for-rope/?fromsearch=1 But it's not possible to use the same rope for each of those purposes, so my idea was to give each rope two attributes; length, and thickness. The idea behind it is that you can't use the rope, which is used for climbing, for fishing. So when crafting an item, certain criteria of the rope need to be fulfilled, e.g. for a fishing rod a maximum thickness of 2mm and a minimum length of 1m could be required. Also maximum lengths could be possible, but then a rope should be cuttable to any length with a knife. For this idea to work, it probably needs a lot more ropes spawning.

    Different types of ropes

Well, the idea behind it was, that it's just not possible to use such a rope, to fish some fish... If they are going to implement rope climbing or something like this, I think one type of rope is just not "realistic" anymore. So there are two solutions, different types of ropes (like climbing rope, fishing rope, bows, etc.) or the add attributes to a rope and then see whether your rope fits the action you want to do

    Basements

Hi, What about basements? So many houses have them, yet in dayz I haven't seen a single one. Basements are perfect for a scary environment, since they are usually very dark. It could be a good loot spot because people often store stuff there. It would be so nice if sometimes zombies wait there in the dark and then scare the shit out of someone who's looking for loot there. Plus it would make the flashlights more "necessary" because usually many players try to avoid night time.
  15. Why not zombies use ladders? I mean they can run, jump, attack, etc. So climbing a ladder shouldn't be too hard for such a zombie. I mean zombies in dayz are a lot like zombies in "I am legend" who even climbed a house wall. They don't seem like those slow "Walling dead" zombies which are pretty dumb.

    Consuming food causes waste

Hi, I thought it might add some more "realism" and possibilities to the game if used objects would produce some waste. Obviously, when I eat some canned food, it's going to leave an empty can. This for example could have serveal uses: - Catch rain and drink water immeadiately, interesting for new players which don't have a bottle yet - Usually people in DayZ don't close doors, so it's pretty easy to spot if places have been looted and maybe other players are nearby. Garbage could also tell that and leave a trace of the path the players used. - Keep cans and throw them to distract nearby zombies (I think that's already been suggested) - Use cans for target practise Just an idea what waste can be produced: - empty food can - empty soda can - fruit peel - packaging (tablets, bandage, etc)

Great idea, I thought about this too. Have my beans!

new craftable gun : Potato launcher !

Personally I think a potato gun would be incredibly difficult to craft, since proper valves, air pressure tank and tubes are necessary. I think it's just to much precision necessary which can not be brought up in an apocalyptic scenario. Only if you can find it as a total gun, and then maybe with an attatched gas container. I'd rather go with a catapult (or sligshot), but I don't see any need for a catapult. Maybe destroying bases, but then it's probably easier to just walk to the base and destroy it, instead of making a catapult.

    Consuming food causes waste

Yeah, I know about the can ideas, but this is more about waste in general, but I thought the cans might fit in well. I mean there are so manny things that produce waste, the cans are just one example and probably the cans are the most useful waste. Another examples would be the ammo paper boxes, empty matchbox, empty gas can, empty cereal boxes, empty rice bags, etc...
  20. If I don't get it completely wrong, this idea's basic idea is to lower the number of kills between players, right? I think, as soon as they start increasing the number of zombies (planned is by factor 3) and adding zombie hordes, the PvP aspect automatically becomes a smaller issue, because a PvP match inside a city (thats where they occur most of the time) will become much more difficult when suddenly a bunch of zombies join the party. Especially when they will be able to properly walk through houses and to go upstairs. Right now, zombies are no real threat to any player, even killing a zombie with the bare hands is no hughe problem for somebody who knows how to fight zombies. I think that is a reason why players seek their excitement in killing other players (yes, I've done it too). When walking through a city suddenly causes a player to fear for his life, because a zombie horde is running after him, he doesn't even have time for killing other players. Then it would rather be an awesome experience to fight the horde with some strangers who also are in the city.

    Crafting arrows, bowstrings, and spears

That is what they are working on right now with a lot of effort. I think they even hired new people which are just there for the zombies.

    Crafting arrows, bowstrings, and spears

You'll never find every bug, so there is more to find out. I heared that the ammount of weapons and/or ammunition will be reduced, and the number of zombies will at least increase by the factor 3 (which is a lot). Imagine that future scenario, less ammo, more zombies, it's going to be a lot about stealth so the bow will probably become quite usefull. Additionally with less weapons and ammo the bow will of course be more valuable. I think it's just a matter of time.

    Sun poisoning

The sun burn system wouldn't work quite well, because the darker the skin is, the less probable it is to get a sun burn, which would make everyone chose the darkest skin colour available. If skin colour wouldn't affect that, it wouldn't be realistic. A black guy in this area would never get a sun burn. Maybe it could rather be a "heat-system", so if you're running a lot in the sun and wear warm cloths (like a down jacket), a message could appear "I'm feeling warm/hot/etc." (like "I'm getting wet"). I think the dicciculty here would be for the engine to determine whether you are standing in the sun or not.

[Suggestion] Pocket UI for fast access

Yeah, I was always wondering why taking a weapon from the backpack was as fast as taking a weapon from the holster. I like the quick access buttons though, maybe it should be animated how the character gets his backpack, opens it and picks the item.

    Backpack

Yeah, that's why I tried to explain my point, with rather having a trade off than an item which is clearly the best. Right now you can see that players who played a lot have either the hiking or the hunting backpack, depending on their playing style.
