The "carry two guns" thing is not gonna come into the game, if you want two weapons carry one in your hands one on your back or get a MP. Holsters seem like a good idea, maybe to protect rifles so they don't get damaged easily and stay dry

Beside the fact that I totally agree to what nettles said, how can you complain about a balance/tuning issue in alpha?!?!?!? Right now the focus is NOT on tuning everything to make the game perfect, the main goal is to implement as many features as possible and then move into beta were tuning becomes a topic. Is seems that you didn't think about future game development too, so tuning the system to perfection now is beyond stupidity, because with these upcoming mechanics: - stamina - weight system - cloth layering - seasons the overheat system has to be re-balanced anyways, so all the work would have been for nothing... Well, what did you expect??? If you would have done a little research and used your brain a bit to make some conclusions you would have found the answer by yourself, why such lack of intellectual independence? Here my result: - The average day temperature for the late summer in Prague (close to Chernarus) is between 20-25°C, so on a sunny day temperatures above 30°C are not unlikely. - A TTsKO-Jacket is a jacket made for rainly and colder weather - You character is probably carrying about 20 kg weight - Your character is f***ing SPRINTING without getting tired And you a seriously wondering why he is overheating?!? If your still wondering, wait for the next summer any try it yourself ;)

I didn't hear it anywhere, but if you klick on the link you gave me and look at the dates they were published, you will discover it's always around Wednesday ;) :P Sometimes a day earlier, sometimes a day late, so in average on Wednesday ;)

Yeah, NWAF was just a random location I picked, cities seem to fit better. Well without a mod enforcing the rules, more preperation is necessary. But I think the ammount of preparation is not that much. You could name a location a day before the games start so everyone can go there. And the next day you name a server everybody joins. The rest is cake. The success mainly depends on how good everyone sticks to the rules. If some jerk shows up with a gun to kill everyone, it's going to be really stupid. That's only possible when they release modding

I love this idea, but what about a version of the "hunger games" which is closer to the movies/books? First you'd need some people who "guard" the "games" and make sure nobody leaves the "arena" (e.g. north-west airfield). They should have a certain dress code (e.g. yellow raincoat). As a preperation for the arena the guards should hide some weapons on the airfield, so that there is a reason to explore the airfield. So everyone who wants to participate goes to the arena and drops everything they have but their basic clothing (maybe even only t-shirt, jeans and sneakers). As soon as you say on which server you'll host the "game", everbody joins that server and groups up in a big circle (like in hunger games) on the runway. In the center of the circle the "guards" place some melee weapons, supplies, cloths and ammunition. To start the DayZ-hunger-games one guard fires into the air (or some other signal) and from that point on everything is allowed except leaving the arena (airfield walls), attacking the guards or combat logging. Last one standing wins It's probably hard to "enforce" the rules, we'd just have to rely on everybodys fair play. So what do you think?

Hi, With the new experimental version up, horticulture is in the game, so immediatley it came in my mind that it should be possible to retrieve seeds (or whatever is needed) from fruits and vegetables. My ideas: - Ammount of seeds should depend on status of the fruit (pristine, damaged, etc.) and some random factor - Rotten fruits should contain retrievable seeds too - Retrieving should be a crafting that takes some time (retrieving & drying) and maybe some tools (like in the video) - Some fruits/vegetables should function as seeds (like the potatoe), so no retrieving necessary - Seeds from a package should have a higher chance of growing than retrieved seeds (if a chance of "not growing" comes into the game) Some topics where this idea was mentioned, or a bit different: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/189511-medicinal-herbs-plants/?hl=seeds#entry1950396 http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/175537-gardening-farming/?hl=seeds

Hi, I really like the idea of basements and underground structures and it seems I'm not the only one, there have been several suggestions about this topic. But what comes up every time is that some people say it's not possible, some say it is. I've been searching for answers but so far the only explanation I got was that the terrain only allows a single y coordinate for each (x,y), but if that's true couldn't you make a hole in the terrain and then just "insert" a basement structure? Or place a structure in a way that "creates" and underground. So can anybody explain me the problem with underground bases? I don't mind if it's complex or hard to understand, I'll look up everything I don't know.

Thanks for your answers guys, you guys helped me a lot :thumbsup: But right now it's a valley/hole in the terrain, which is covered by a structure, which is like my idea. Of course, because with a 90° drop you'd have more than one y-coordinate for a (x,z)-coordinate. Like you said, there are workarounds for this. You could also let the terrain go inside the wall of the basement, which would ensure, that it's not 90°, right? Does this allow underground structures without the "terrain digging"? So is it possible then to create an entrance for an underground structure and then walk "below" the terrain to exit this structure at another point of the map?

Well, the Devs actually want you to visit different servers to find your loot, I'm just saying "central loot economy" I like this idea... ... and I'm aware of this problem. So here's my idea: So spawning inside a base is a complete no-go! Since you will be able to build a base anywhere on the map (especially in houses), it can't be prevented that players will spawn inside bases when they'll spawn in the exact same location. This technique could even be used to get inside a locked base. So only way around this is a different spawn point nearby when you should spawn inside a base, but then we have to problem that the player will know that there is a base nearby. To solve this problem each respawn could make you spawn at a different point nearby, so you can't tell anymore that you would have spawned in a base. This has some onther benefit too, each respawn brings more risk, so a server hoppers life will be harder ;) :P Maybe the new respawn system could make you always spawn outside, so the ghosting problem would be solved too. :thumbsup:

I like it but; Heating yes, airconditioning no. The heat comes from the engine, pretty simple. Airconditions though are difficult to maintain and require special chemicals and a system with no leaks so it can build up pressure. Usually nothing for a post apcalypse scenario.

I just thought about that, because I recently got killed by a player because I had a mosin (only object I had) and the other player had a baseball bat... I'd like to add an idea about the mechanic. I think each weapon should be usable as a melee weapon (with different strengths like OP posted). It should be possible to right-click a weapon and have a option like "use as melee weapon", so the character takes the weapon into his hand (maybe like in the picture of irishroy) and use it for close comabt. If you want to use it as a "gun" again the quick buttons should put it back into the "firing postition". Another addition, I think there should be a chance to damage the weapon while using it as a melee weapon. Only a slight chance, so that it doesn't always break when using it, but that there is still a risk.

Well, I didn't just post "seach before you post", if you should refer to this. I used the search funtion and searched for three posts that are about the exact same topic to avoid an "unnecessary post". It actually becomes very necessary because people who are interested in that topic then easily can find where it already has been discussed and what the results of that discussion were. So that post is probably more necessary than this whole topic ;).

Well then, why not use the topics that are already open? BTW, since it seems you didn't read the forum rules, here an "extraction": Search First: Use the search function to look for an existing thread on the topic that you wish to share your opinion about. You should also look at the sticky threads (on top of the forum) and browse through the first few pages of topics, in case your search keyword just wasn't included on an existing thread of the same subject. If you create a duplicate thread, it is very likely that your thread will be locked or deleted!

I'd love to see wind, but does somebody know, how complex it would be at add wind? Because that would make a 2D flying curve into a 3D fyling curve of the bullet, wouldn't it?

I would make any container "poisonable" but with the wells I would let it be a natural poisoning only. Usually there is so much water in there, that a small ammount of poison would do nothing.
