Hi, With the new trucks in DayZ, this idea came into my mind after some hours of driving (and refueling). Why not add two different types of fuel? It could make the search for gasoline (which is pretty easy right now) more challenging. I think two fuel types are enough in order to make the game not too complex. When some day the fuel in gas stations will become limited, this will play a bigger role. Additionally some gas stations could have only one type of fuel (e.g. millitary only diesel). Canisters found in barns should contain gasoline only, which is the fuel for all garden equippment (2-stroke gasoline works also in 4-stroke engines). Canisters in garages could contain both types. Gasoline: The classic gasoline which a majority of the smaller cars drive. - Doesn't drive with diesel at all - Fueling the wrong fuel doesn't damage the engine - In order to drive again after fueling diesel, diesel has to be removed and gasoline has to be fueled Diesel: The diesel is always used by trucks and often by all-terrain vehicles due to it's high torque and lower fuel consumption. - A diesel engine can run on nearly everything that burns (alcohol, gasoline, etc.), but this damages the injection pumps, which will get ruined after a while if you don't refuel diesel. - Needs to be vented after it ran out of fuel (rolling down a hill for a few hundret meters works also fine, but may damage injection pumps) I'm not sure whether the venting and fuel exchanging are to complex for the game, but I just wanted to list up the basics of fueling (the wrong fuel). Note: This is a suggestion for the end stage of the development, in alpha or early beta it would probably make the game just unnecessarily complex.

I have a dream, that one day DayZ will be a place where suvivors need to survive!!! Currently DayZ is a harsh place to be, but mostly that is not caused by the infected population that wants to kill me, it's caused by players who want to kill me. What gives DayZ it's special touch is not the open world with endless possibilities or the zombie apocalypse, it's the player interaction. I have a dream that one day the number of zombies in DayZ will be so high, that they are actually feared. I have a dream that one day going into cities will be an adventure, a trip which requires planning, careful behavior and skill. I have a dream that one day players need to team up to increase their chances of surviving when looting areas with a high ammount of zombies. I have a dream that one day a player has to make a decision before he shoots a bullet, whether the risk is worth it attracting a lot of zombies. I have a dream that one day the player interaction will become an essential part to survive. This comment from the status update gave me hope that this dream will come closer: "[...] the latest news regarding testing of the new zombies suggests we may soon be able to significantly increase the number of zombies spawning." & "implement stealth mechanics into the game" EDIT: It seems that it's not clear to everyone that shooting somebody is also a form of player interaction, and this risk makes player interaction so exciting. But right not the benefits for teaming up (also a form of player interaction) are rather small. EDIT, EDIT: This is not a complaint about the current game status, it's about what I'd like to see (Isn't this obvious?!?) EDIT, EDIT, EDIT: I NEVER said that I don't want PvP or KoS, it's what makes the game exciting and unprdictable. I want the game to become more complex which is punishing frivolity. (People don't seem to get that)

It seems you either didn't read what I wrote or didn't understand. I suppose the second. I NEVER said that I don't want PvP or KoS, it's what makes the game exciting and unprdictable. I want the game to become more complex which is punishing frivolity. Here again for you:

It's not only shooting, it's also about running around/moving without thinking, driving without thinking, performing actions (craft, drink, eat, etc.) without thinking, making any other noise without thinking, being highly visible (e.g. on towers), closing doors, etc. Basically it's about paying more attention to your environment. Well, kind of. For example in rural areas or areas with less zombies, the zombie aspect wouldn't play a role. It's more like an awareness where you are and what consequences an action could bring. To be honest, as I saw the truck (the first one I ever saw) I still would have tried to shoot it, because I wanted it really badly, but then I'd had to live with the consequences. I think at military loot places, people will always try to KoS, no matter of the consequences. But when something happens, a larger group will then increase your chances to survive (it does now too, but running away on your own is "suffficent" right now). Last paragraph; Yes, but instead of "long and hard" (hehehe, long and hard :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: ), it should rather be a punishment for frivolity. This doesn't mean that there's less killing, if people enjoy that part of the game, they can still do it but should be better prepared, e.g. have a good way to escape, be in a safer place (e.g. rooftop) or have enough ammo and magazines to fight the zombies (they shouldn't be unbeatable). Do/did you watch the walking dead? That's a bit how I'd like to see it; cities are a necessary place to go, but dangerous as hell. If you team up your chances to survive are better, yet other "humans" will mostly get you in trouble. A reminder: This is just MY opinion, if anybody doesn't share or like this opinion, that's perfectly fine. This is why this forum is called "generall discussion" ;)

Sorry for the late response, I was quite busy with my exams, so I couldn't respond here. No, more for the fun (I even did it once too, shame on me). Nobody cares for the items of a bambi, they are probably ruined anyways after they've been shot. If someone really wants the batteries, they'll just go to a bambi and ask them or threaten them to hand out the batteries. Shooting someone destroys the loot --> not smart. It seems you still didn't get my point, so I'd like to explain it again for you. I'm not complaining about KoS, Pvp or bandits or anything like this. E.g. in the new update, I saw a guy driving a truck, I wanted to have the truck, so I tried to shoot him without any hesitation (not very nice behavior, but I wanted the truck). This happened inside a larger city near the police station, now imagine the same situation with a ton of zombies in this town. My "random shooting" would have attracted all the zombies and I would have been in huge trouble. Conclusion: A lot of zombies make you THINK before DOING SOMETHING. In my opinion this makes gameplay more interesting and "deeper" (in the meaning if complexity). Do you understand my point now?

Well, they are working on a system to easily implement a larger variety of zombies: http://dayz.com/blog/status-report-week-of-01-dec-14 I mean it's a cool idea that has been talked about a lot (like Chaingunfighter said), but in my opinoion there are more important topics for zombies right now, especially the server performance. As you probably know, they want to increase the number of zombies now, but a lootable zombie would probably slow this process down, especially when thinking about server performance. Even in the future, when the server performance is better, If I had the choice I'd rather take even more zombies instead of lootable zombies.

Beans for the "russian accent" :P True words, those moments make DayZ so awesome. But now imagine how all the PvP-gamplay would require more attention to the surroundings. Bandits would have to think about whether they fire a bullet/bullets, friendly Players would have more benefits from teaming up, thus running through cities to find other fiendly folks won't be that easy anymore. Players, regardless of their playing style, would have to think more about their behavior when meeting other players. Stealth becomess a bigger meaning. Aggro zombies indicate even more where other players might be. I think it's really going to change the gameplay of DayZ.

I never complained about alpha ;) I never said something like "it's stupid that it's not in the game yet..." I just displayed how I'd like to see the game, that's why I said "I hope that this dream will come closer" ;)

Well that's not what I said, I just said, that it would be nice if people have to think about what they do inside cities (or airfields) and that there is a (bigger) reward for not killing someone. Remember: Shooting somebody is also a form of player interaction, and this risk makes player interaction so exciting. But right not the benefits for teaming up (also a form of player interaction) are rather small.

I don't get it why some people (and obiously you too) have a problem with the size? Those standard jerry cans (20L) have a size of 467mm x 166mm x 346mm, good luck fitting those easily into your backpack. THINK BEFORE YOU POST!!!

Well, that's not a good solution... - What if that server shuts down? - What if that server is broken/inaccessible? - What if you go on holidays/trips and this is forcing you to join your "home-server"? --> unplayable ping - What if your friends are on a different server? If you can't join public servers though once you've joined a private one, the advatage from gearing up on a private server is gone. Therefore gearing up on private servers to join a public server (fully geared) becomes useless, problem solved ;)

I'd like to see stamina affect the accuracy, a bit like it is now, when you've been sprinting, it's harder to aim. BTW, many factors are already inluded: - health (arm fracture) - running makes aiming harder - crouching or prone increases accuracy - I think I read somewhere that holding breath and wind is already confirmed (not 100% sure though)

Storage is already confirmed Hot wiring is more difficult than in the movies... ;) The rest sounds pretty sweet, I'd also like to see window funtionalities: - windows down and driving makes the inside of the car cooler - broken windows make the inside of the car cooler - windows up and not broken allows better heating of the inside of the car

I like that idea, there was a lot of talking about carrying items outside of the "classical" inventory, e.g. with ropes, a belt would be a nice addition.

I don't like the magically-flying-on-the-back-weapons either, but a rope should be enough to tie it to the back, holster should be the premium option. Same for melee weapons. Btw, I think it's ok when they "float/fly" next o a backpack, because backpacks often can fix items at their side, maybe it should be dependant on the type of backpack.
