As much as i like aircrafts.. i voted no. From a logical point of view.. how many people (with no experience) can fly an aircraft in a setting like DayZ is in.. zombie apocalypse with just a few survivors alive doomed to roam the lands of Chernarus in search of baked beans forever..? Yeahhh.. Not to mention military type aircrafts that your average recreational / commercial real life pilot has no clue how to even start the things.. I doubt a bunch of half starved to death survivors flyin' around the relatively small map of Chernarus (for an aircraft) would fit the setting ;)

You can already start a fire with paper, rip pages off books and use those as well. Not sure if i'd carry a bunch of papers around just for the sole purpose of starting a fire. Rags are pretty easy to find, can be deposited in first aid kits and have multiple uses. +1 for the torch though

Happy to help, my friend! Good luck & take care in your travels! ;)

+1 for the canteen cup & boiling water. The water/hydration system is kinda boring at the moment.. don't really care about rivers personally, but it would be a cool addition to the game :D

Thoughts on the new eating and drinking system?
DJK (DayZ) replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I believe it is a "MMO open world survival horror" game. ANY kind of survival, being it a "Bear Grylls simulator 2015", a "MMO open world survival horror" or "ZOMBIE SURVIVAL", as you wrongfully categorized it, revolves around one key element: self preservation. So not that different after all.. That said.. one should play the game as he pleases.. cuz u know.. sandbox ;) -
You can find ppl on the coast, in the bigger cities & military installations (see in-game map if you found one or dayzdb.com).. where there is also the biggest chance you'll get shot.. some players just avoid contact as much as they can & head inland.. and even on a 50 pers. server there could be hard to find many ppl. To find where you are.. easiest way is to head to the nearest city/village & check the name on the map. Most of your encounters will swiftly end with minimal interaction.. there are exceptions ofc, but thats pretty much the "norm" in DayZ.. even if its a friendly encounter.. unless you're on a role play server. Cheers

"Friendly" Players who KOS behind your back.
DJK (DayZ) replied to HappyXceed (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
i think we all know the answer to that.. as to "friendly" KOS experiences.. met a "friendly" guy one time.. we spoke a bit then proceeded to loot some houses.. until we saw a pistol.. and the hackin' began.. apparently he reallllyyy wanted that gun.. another time, i was just fooling around on the coast looking for some ppl to give them some gear.. met one guy who supposedly was "friendly", gave him a rifle and we parted ways, only to come back 2-3 minutes later and started shooting.. frankly.. i could tell countless stories about being KOS'd or attacked by "friendlies", but they're all the same crap.. luckily i have learned my lesson.. i still don't attack other players without a reason.. but i avoid large groups, heavily armed players, and KOV (kill on voice) ANY squeakers. Also stalk players before contact.. if possible.. just to get a feeling about their intentions. BUT.. there are genuinely kind players out there.. met some in the strangest moments.. ;) -
What is the nicest thing you have done in DayZ
DJK (DayZ) replied to LORDPrometheus's topic in General Discussion
besides not shooting on sight and generally being friendly.. i set camp on skalisty island one time.. made a run for water to the well and found 2 guys poking around when i came back.. both pretty fresh spawned. One of them left after contact.. the other sat with me by the fire.. telling me he ran away from some guy that wanted to kill him on the coast.. i gave him some supplies, pumpkins, a canteen and pointed him to the well on the island to refill.. after that he went his way back on the coast. Pretty good times ;) Also gave a player a gun one time.. he repaid me with the black screen of "You are dead!" -
I'd like that myself.. hopefully we'll see more filter options eventually..

Thoughts on the new eating and drinking system?
DJK (DayZ) replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
The new system is way better than the old one.. as others have said.. a step in the right direction. I do a lot of "survival" type gameplay.. not waging war on the coast or camping with tons o' rice & canteens.. thus, requiring a more realistic diet.. and the new system seems to do its job better than the old "chug a couple of canteens in one go" one. That said, once you have a decent percentage of water & food in your stomach (energized, hydrated), your diet will feel more like a rl one. -
