Thanks for all the information, haha. Just had a short brief of US gun laws on a post. In regards to your question.. it would be dependant on it's rarety I guess. If it's going to be as common as the LRS itself, no problem - I'd be fine with that. However if it means I'll be finding a Mosin, finding a LRS and then getting shot every time I go to a military placement to find a rail kit - that doesn't sound fun. Part of the reason I'm fond of the Mosin is that it gives me and fellow friends a unit. It allows two of us to stay over-watch, even if it means never pulling a trigger we can provide complete oversight of the area while the rest of our team can enter the area, clear it and take what we want. The difference between using a pair of binos or a LRS is that we can engage that target before he gets too close.

I gathered the first one haha. Yeah, I try to stay out others countries business, although I think it's completely crazy to possess an automatic rifle as a civilian (for hunting or otherwise) it is pretty much written into your way of life, so I'm not in any position to argue - but why argue over that fact it has pistol grips and mod components? That's everything that makes the AR-15 look awesome and the ability to use various optics/torches/IR/grips. I like this argument. Remove the LRS from the Mosin as long you add the ability to use it on another bolt action rifle. Welcome to the debate! I posted something just a minute ago actually, how I think DayZ is currently in fine line between a zombie survival game and a game of EA's Sims with a Zombie expansion DLC. I like the idea that I can pop a LRS onto a Mosin and take a 600m shot on the map, it's been said elsewhere - replace it with another bolt action rifle and you've got yourself a deal. Otherwise, leave it. It's only broken to you, let someone else have their break of realism for a moment or two.

I'm not sure I agree. I dislike the idea of having to stop, open my backpack and have a look around - especially in a game where there could be a zombie or a player just around the corner. I noticed you edited your post a bit - I agree that DayZ may not be able to compete with survival properties, but I'm okay with that. There's a fine line between playing a Zombie game and Sims with a Zombie expansion.

You should have 3 files and a folder, just put the config file into the folder and try running the game. The reason it's not showing the file maybe because the game has never run, but it's at least worth a try to see if we can get it running.

good point. Only ever pulled a trigger at the head of an animal, seeing an animal bleed out on the ground it stood or run off wounded is something I never wish to see. Just can't get my British head around the idea of that kind of round being used by civilians. Out of curiosity, what's considered "high"?

Rofl, well the one you just downloaded would go straight to Downloads! Just pop the downloaded config into the old location :)

Try going here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rrqombm6aoiye0n/DayZ.cfg Download that file (Don't worry, it's basically a text file that tells DayZ what settings to play the game under). Once downloaded, go to C:\Users\NAME*\Documents\DayZ and find the original DayZ.cfg and move it elsewhere, such as your desktop and move the downloaded DayZ.cfg where the old was. *Replace NAME with your computers user.

Nah, wouldn't change it. The game will load full screen. I'm a bit stumped on this one. Could try downloading pre-set video settings to the right resolution and see if that works.

It's a good rig, shouldn't be an issue playing DayZ. Let me know when you've downloaded those Drivers. I'm hoping it's just a matter of drivers being out of date, updated and we're good. It's imperative you restart after installing them.

That's concerning, not to get into the whole 'what should be legal what shouldn't be legal' thing that's going on in the US, but I can't see 7.62 used for self defence or even the biggest of game. Edit: Read as self defence in a civilian situation.

I'm hoping it's just out-dated drivers, but install them, restart and come back if it's still not working.

I've seen certain people say "yeah I've got a Mosin" all over this sight, but until now I've never really too much notice. Is it actually that simple to get a Mosin for like $200, pick up some 7.62 and go shoot something?

So far there shouldn't be a problem. That 8GB of RAM and Processor makes *hope* your GPU is up to standard. Is the PC new? First hand? Did you purchase it from someone else or from a big retailer?
