What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
emigrates replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
If it doesn't interfere, read, modify or write game files, how would an overlay understand the building it is looking at or the location of your character? SweetFX isn't an overlay but changes how DirectX works - nothing to do with the game, but we're not talking about SweetFX we're talking about an overlay, something to enhance say.. someones physical appearance in order to spot them better or highlighting a piece of environment. Let me know and we can then discuss about posting incorrect information. -
I came across this post and make no apologies for waking up the living/necro thread. Has no one made a single innuendo over this?

What do they mean by the hacksaw turned upside?

My life is worth nothing, once again.

I'm genuinely excited.

In my mind I'm going to forget that you added that question mark and go ahead and assume you just confirmed that tents are confirmed. This is of course does mean I will continue to post celebratory memes on this post. It also means if and when the patch does come to stable release and tents are not within that game, you and only you will be held responsibile. But for now, moar memes!

Wait, what? What's being released/Updated/Pushed? WHY CANNOT I NOT PLAY DAYZ?!

We could always just turn this into a emigrates fan-thread?

I'm not sure you understand what you're talking about. If you enable a 3rd party program that can suddenly make any zed or player around you have a green glow around them, this is going to be interfering with the game files in order to judge the border, spacing and movement of said characterisations. Even things like changing a gun skin interfere with the game files to replace the original, that's why you'll find most major league gaming series prohibit people making the slightest change like a skin change. There's no such thing as a simple 'overlay', how is that 3rd party program to judge the location, distance, size and other factors of the environment it's going to be overlaying without interfering with the game itself? False, like one of the administrators said above, hacking doesn't just have to mean teleporting or gun spawning. It can be a variety of things, hacking is just another word for 'making something easier' or to 'get around something'. Anything that you enable that changes variables, values or interferes with someones in-game experience to give someone an unfair advantage over another player or players is not permitted. It's ruining gameplay for both teams. -
So many different ways a PC can crush tbh fella, just a matter of rulling them out - however Vista is a very demanding OS. A demanding OS + demanding game = unhappy computers.
-
I'd get rid of that Vista and try to boot W7 or Linux. Your specs are above minimum, however I wouldn't expect much life. Is it a constant crash to desktop now or just here and there?

I like to hope Elle is a she. Not that I've ever come across Elle before, It's just nice. Y'know?

Hey folks, With the recent announcement of Microsoft pulling support for Windows 7 Operating Systems and the even newer announcement of Windows 9 continuing with the Touch Screen/Tablet prioritized feel (We all know what happened when MS announce tablets can be as powerful as gaming machines, right?) I've been looking at getting a Linux OS or at least dual booting Linux and W7. Has anyone here managed to get DayZ working with a Linux distro? I've been considering either Mint 15 or Ubuntu and from what I understand from Steam, a quick change to some files and a lot of help from Linux Wine and PlayOnLinux could get DayZ running. Can anyone add to this? Also, what's your favourite Linux OS?

and we're done! It took me a few attempts, for some reason none of the ISO's I downloaded from the Linux Mint site would work, once I had installed Mint, changed my BIOS settings back to boot from SSD, restart and once the BIOS splash would show I'd get a black screen with a flashing hyphen. I wasn't able to access the GRUB and the only action I could take was CTRL + ALT + DEL, which would simply prevent the hyphen from flashing. Using Linux Live USB program I managed to automatically download a new ISO and once again installed this, would resulted in me being *finally* able to boot Linux Mint 17! I've got to say, this is the first time I've used a a non-windows OS (Installed Photoshop on a Mac once, but nothing more) and I'm already impressed by it's GUI, Drivers Managers, App Market(?) and more. It's just fantastic. I'm currently reading an article on how to optimize Mint to get the very best out of it. Any suggestions, tips or info would be greatly appreciated and any information I can provide in return is a done deal.

Loosing connection to server "Session lost" help!

Are you using WiFi, Ethernet or another connection to your router? -
Yes, because we just run into houses for hours trying our very best to put LRS scopes on top of fridges... :|
-
This house is now a hot spot for the LRS and PU Scope!

tech lingo, I like it!

Thanks for all the information, haha. Just had a short brief of US gun laws on a post. In regards to your question.. it would be dependant on it's rarety I guess. If it's going to be as common as the LRS itself, no problem - I'd be fine with that. However if it means I'll be finding a Mosin, finding a LRS and then getting shot every time I go to a military placement to find a rail kit - that doesn't sound fun. Part of the reason I'm fond of the Mosin is that it gives me and fellow friends a unit. It allows two of us to stay over-watch, even if it means never pulling a trigger we can provide complete oversight of the area while the rest of our team can enter the area, clear it and take what we want. The difference between using a pair of binos or a LRS is that we can engage that target before he gets too close.

So after transferring all my data from my laptop to my desktop, I went ahead and formatted my 500GB HDD and tried to USB boot Linux Mint onto my 60GB SSD. The installation went fine, as much as I could expect however when I restarted my laptop I'm getting a F2/F8 splash for two seconds and then a black screen with a single blinking hyphen. Any ideas?
