Exactly. It's just an exploit in the game currently there's tons in many games it's something the devs haven't changed or overlooked, it's not cheating it's using an unintended feature of the game to quickly get what or to where you need. I mean to all the people saying suicide spawning makes you bad at the game, I bet you'd shut your mouths if you knew how many people having done that had killed you. The best player in the game could do it, are they suddenly bad at the game? That's the logic people are using here. Look at it like microwave meals. You're extremely hungry and you have two options for this tasty fish pie you've got, microwave it for 8 minutes or turn the oven on, wait for it to heat up for 10 minutes maybe more and then wait another 25 minutes for the pie to cook... Where's the sense in not using the fast option? Anyway I don't typically do it until it's obvious I'd die anyway like spawning somewhere where zombies have half killed me before I can control my dude. As for the OP it's shit like that which makes me wish there was some kind of death message to explain why you died, it'd be nice to just see a "you were shot" message so you know it wasn't a random bullshit death at least.

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

Sorry I worded that wrong. I don't have a problem with snipers being one shot kill(for a torso or head shot anyway) but a 50 cal sniper would be far too extreme they're designed to shoot through tanks we don't need them to kill people or zombies. Not to mention that they weigh like 15-20KG or something, they would have to make you get tired very very fast or it would just be ridiculous. -
I've never seen people talking about this really. Will we be able to chop zombies heads and arms off? Like with an axe at the right angle. Including straight up smashing their heads, like with hammers or shovels. Or will it always just be like headshot = dead, body shot = until they have 0HP? I don't think the engine could handle any detailed dismemberment but some would be nice, since they move fairly quick it wouldn't be too easy to do. For players I don't think it should work though, since in real life you could just duck or grab the axe but that kind of thing likely won't be in the game ever. When they're dead though why not, maybe you could throw heads or limbs as bait for zombies while you escape or in extremely desperate situations, use them as weapons. Thoughts? Since it's unlikely we'll have a damage system so detailed each axe hit creates a massive gash on zombie's, a little dismemberment with some blood spray would be a fine addition.

Inbf NO snipers are pretty much one hit kill anyway, I wouldn't want something like that with the lack of gore in the game if half of people's torso's weren't getting blown off what would be the point. It's just so unnecessary anyway every shot would probably attract every zombie in existence nobody in their right mind would use one of these for anything but PVP where it again isn't needed. I'd rather another semi-auto rifle to another sniper or anything else right now. -
Yeah I just hope they involve the touchpad. Personally I hope it doesn't go to X1. Not in a fanboy way but it would just mean that they'd most likely make one "console version" meaning despite the PS4's more powerful hardware it would need limited to work on the X1 and it would also be a shame to have a weaker X1 version and a more powerful PS4 version. Since the PS4 effectively has more buttons to use it'd be the better control option, Kinect is pretty inadequate especially when not everyone has it now.

Yeah I've always thought that different types of zombies should reflect the stages of infection and whether or not they've had a good meal recently. I mean those dudes and dudette's are HUNGRY, I'm sure we've all seen them chasing cows and whatnot by now, there should be drawbacks to them not getting food. So called Usain Bolts should be fresh zombies that are burning through their bodies last supply of adrenaline maybe, desperate for their first fix of sweet sweet survivor meat. It would also be cool if they stopped and feasted on dead players so that if you came across one it'd be slower due to being full of meat and bits of clothing. Most importantly though I think(if not just to appease whiners) they should all be able to cause serious damage. Like crawlers, crawling as in dragging themselves across the ground, should be able to grab your leg and bite you. Which does no serious damage, simple bandage job. However you get a serious infection from it, so that if you're dumb enough to get caught by one of the slowest moving(sometimes steathily placed) creatures in the game you get punished.

Probably, that's what most MMO and F2P type games go I hope they don't go down H1Z1's route, let it do it's thing and DayZ do it's other thing. I'd like to just buy the game again and then have it continuously paid for by PS+ But speaking of buying it again, what's a sensible price? I feel like £60 would be a little much. Perhaps people who got it on PC could get a discount also making it like £30. Pretty sure they'll try for £60 if they don't go down the free to play route.

Sudden instant death and player Hit Points
UltimateGentleman replied to Paxom (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah I hope they're just setting it up to add in recoverable bone damage later but they should have mentioned this at least. Of course the most excellent player can live like 200 hours without dying but average players have literally no chance of surviving that long or even close to that because what they have leukaemia or something? Not seeing a reason to start playing again until this is reworked somehow. -
Sudden instant death and player Hit Points
UltimateGentleman replied to Paxom (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Depends on a lot of things same with bone breaking, your bones can heal stronger than they were before. This system is just dumb as is they need to be recoverable and not induce health, why have separate HP if hit points matter so much? Sleeping/resting should be a good way to recover hit points, make it slow of course it should take real life hours and when you're character wakes up messages like "I feel unsteady" "I feel slightly weakened" "I feel great!" It's a great idea to have damage you take have long term effects but it should be recoverable. If you break your leg 5 times or whatever you're not going to just drop dead so it makes no sense currently. When you're in "I feel unsteady/weak" status whatever limbs have taken most damage should just snap from any good hit, melee damage and speed should be reduced etc it needs to be extremely detrimental rather than fatal. -
Why would they water it down? Not like the consoles can't handle it all that needs worked on is the control system. I guess they might water it down but they don't need to.
-
Well they expect 2015 so they must be confident. Don't think there's any confirmation whether or not that will be the full thing or PS4 early access/beta. I wonder if there will be some kind of collectors edition? Wouldn't mind having some DayZ related items, maybe like a compass or something that would be cool. However if they go for that...could they resist "bonus content"? Wonder what they'll do with servers also PS+ will pay for them so would we need to rent one or will that not be a thing?

Are we going to get dismemberment/gore?
UltimateGentleman replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Well their faces are pretty darn decayed unless they've been putting make-up on :P It seems clear that even if they're not "dead" their bodies are slowly dying. -
Well given the war zone look of the place some people clearly went down fighting be it getting bitten and turning or getting shot and succumbing to the infection. I would rather they just add dead bodies around with occasional loot I suggested that once in a gore topic, that and occasional loot on zombies would be great.

Are we going to get dismemberment/gore?
UltimateGentleman replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Thank you! My mind just could not think of how to say that, yeah all attacks need some kind of "oomph" to them. It'd be a lot easier to kill zombies if you could knock them down, for sure. However if they can knock you down and get the drop on you, you're most likely fucked so it would still be difficult especially against more than one. As for the dismemberment not being realistic, these are visibly decaying bodies so that could account for something and even if you couldn't lop off a limb in one strike you could certainly reach the bone and break it a bit, enough for the thing to not be walking after. Also: at around 4:20An axe could surely achieve something similar on a human body especially when someone would be swinging for their lives not to mention the centrifugal force would add a bit of force to it as well, it's not really comparable to hacking up meat on a kitchen counter. -
Are we going to get dismemberment/gore?
UltimateGentleman replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I hope they can try get it along that way somewhat, like being able to stab people/zeds instead of just slash. I know the pitchfork "stabs" but it doesn't really go through and cause stabbing damage y'know. Pretty much like that. It would look stupid for sure but what else are they going to do besides make blood spray from the right places? We can't expect too much from this engine but that doesn't mean we should limit it to creatures being completely solid blocks that bleed from certain area's. Yeah that would also be good, failing that even just a shove. As long as it wasn't too overpowered and would sometimes require a bit of button bashing if they resisted. The main thing I want is more of a physical element to combat instead of just object A hits object B until one falls down. Dismemberment ties in with that, zombie going to take too much stamina or time for you to kill? Break or hack off it's leg and leave. -
I don't think military zombies should have that high a chance. I mean why did they die? Most likely, they ran out of bullets. They should have at best a couple of rounds or thinks like combat knives, rations maybe. Nothing that would make them a farmable resource to set you on your way, just minor chances for some helpful stuff.

Gold AKM for Loot Management System?
UltimateGentleman replied to Chaingunfighter's topic in Suggestions
I'm inclined to say no. Like everyone would want it and would find it eventually, there'd be whole clans with them being badass gangsta bros. It promotes getting the weapon to kill things and people with, it's definitely a COD weapon. I see why there could be one or two in Chernaus, definitely it'd be a nice piece to hang on your wall but it would just make the general mindset in the game even more child-like. Upon landing on a beach nobody but nobody would instantly think "I need me some gold weapons to take care of these zombies!" The most exotic/unique thing I'd ever like to see is some kind of sword, like a cavalry sword or a claymore. Katana would be pushing it a bit and would be too weak realistically. -
Well, they do say that but who knows if it's really true or not, either it is or it's just a poor excuse for "I want to kill people l0l" I highly doubt the game will get all that much more difficult though it's not going to be that hard to find ammo or guns, else there'd be almost no point in having them. Half the people playing don't seem to want a survival game so if they start leaving because the lack of loot ammo and guns will find their way back in to common loot drops... All anyone is ever going to have to do is find a heli crash, not like they;d go to the effort of setting that up just to take it out. Not to mention that in future zombies will work properly so should be easier to kill, thus people will be out for a deathmatch once again.

I think it'd be a fine idea. So many people here whine about minor things "killing my immersions!" but whenever it's something that lets them kill people easily then that's fine  I mean let's face it, sniper scopes are for killing players. Scouting areas, maybe but they're for locating and killing players, there's literally never a situation where you need to snipe a zombie it's a stupid thing to do most times. Scopes are only good for non killing related things when it comes to scouting if you don't have binocs, which should be solved by being able to use them as monoculars. And I guess they're good for killing animals but you don't really need them, least not with current animal AI. So yeah if people want to be l33t snipers they should have to fiddle with scopes and actually know what they're doing, scarcity of ammo is only a minor inconvenience unless server hopping is banned people are still gonna get half an inventory of rounds and sit sniping popular locations. However they get any fun out of that... I wish people would stop acting like snipers are always easy to find, yeah, shit ones. Typically those wearing mountain backpacks or not even hiding, or ones that move a lot. It's pretty damn easy to conceal yourself in a tree or something and not everyone's gonna have binocs or whatever else to see them hundreds of meters away and it's not like you have time to survey every single tree round a whole town while you're starving to death. There's no use judging how hard snipers are to deal with from the perspective of someone with the tools to find them... Anyway, good suggestion snipers are pretty much useless as it is except for killing, of course not all rifle's should be scope-less by default though but ones with scopes should require the player to zero them in, which is both time consuming and risky.

But it could work if it was for like half an hour or something. I like the idea, Resident Evil 6 was an awful piece of shit but I had a lot of fun playing as zombies/monsters and ruining people's playthroughs. I think if you're not shot in the head you should come back for half an hour, the "you are dead" screen having a "continue" button or something with a random reanimation timer, should be anything between 60 seconds to like 150 maybe so they don't instantly spring back up making escape impossible. The explanation could be that once a person is infected they retain brain function for X amount of time and become bloodthirsty so they're who they were but desperate to kill. Would add an extra element of challenge to the game especially for people on the run with no time to double tap or bash a dead players head in. The main problem is that zombies are weak as shit and that's not likely to change, unless they can shove people around, grab them and even bite them it'd be hard to do anything significant. Though you may force them to use a bullet and alert other zombies. Zombies on the whole would have to be more of an opposing force physically. Currently they're like an MMO character where you just press 1 and they stand there auto-attacking. I'm not sure the game could be that complex.

Like I said they could make a system that records the things people do. If a fresh spawn raises their fists, recorded. If said fresh spawn punches someone, recorded. If they are then killed the above information = defensive kill. Same for shooting. The server must already record details like these to some extent so I don't think it would be that complicated to make a system like this. It knows already if person A fires their gun and where the bullet lands and it knows person B is around where the bullet landed, it doesn't know that person A was shooting at person B but the system I envision would link these so it then "knows" that person A is trying to kill person B and if they succeed it's recorded as an offensive kill. There would be mistakes, definitely but I'm sure they could get it to a point where it worked really well. I'm not sure on "good guy" status though I'm more inclined to it being alright, can't tell, sketchy, definitely bad, Satan. Bit dumb to meet someone and have it be like "This guy is Jesus reborn!" That way people can't bullshit it to get Jesus status then turn evil. They should just get "alright" status from giving people things and if they really are Jesus level good well, I'm sure they'll show it just like Satan level dudes will probably kill you before you get that classification :P (obviously I'm joking with the whole Jesus/Satan thing but you get the idea) So yeah it should refer to mostly neutral and bad people not "good" because any good action like giving things, people could just spam until they have 1000 good karma and can do whatever they want. I mean take 2 guys, what's to stop them swapping inventories 1 item at a time and ramping up their good karma/whatever? If on the good side of things all you get is "alright" then there's not much point spamming such a thing, you still could but you have almost no chance of meeting a group or pair and not being killed anyway unless they take pity on you or you kill first. Do you honestly think no more than a handful of people think that way? There are no moral issues dealt with in the game at all, certainly not in players heads hardly anyone stops and thinks "I should help that guy" or have you not played the game much? You get the odd nonviolent person but walk up to anyone with guns and they'll shoot you unless you're a fresh spawn, even then they'll most likely shoot you... The players themselves have ruined all moral tension in the game, sooner or later everyone has the "fuck it" moment if they were ever helpful.

So we've all experienced it, presumably. Having a fight with someone or a zombie up close, suddenly "You are unconscious" or dead. So about some messages in the text feed like "I can't take much more of this" "I am in pain" etc? In a real fight I think it would be fairly evident whether or not you're about to collapse, you can't account for suddenly being hit over the head or anything like that but you can tell if you're dying. In game though you never know you're about to get knocked out or die until you do. So messages like this as well as after a fight "I feel woozy" or "I need rest" Nobody has a serious life or death brawl with someone then casually runs away for miles on end even though one more hit would knock them out, you should have to recuperate based on how much damage you took and how much stamina you used up. Nobody wants the text feed being cluttered though but I think audio cues would be a bad idea, punching a guy and suddenly he cries out you know you're winning, that's not to say that there should be any screams of pain while fighting but no definite indicator that you're opponent is about to be knocked unconscious. I guess in a fight the screen could flash? Something like that, then the rest of the things could be status messages that slowly escalate if you don't rest until you simply collapse.
-
Yeah those would be cool. It's either suggestions like these or a stamina bar, either way not being able to know how close you are to death or being knocked out is dumb in a fight, other than if you're hit over the head or something like that. Obviously you couldn't really prepare or predict being knocked out but in a brawl, you'd definitely know you were losing at least. Off the point but it would be cool if you started muscular and could get weaker if you don't get proper food etc and slightly stronger if you do, just so fresh spawns can't run up and punch a geared player out in seconds.
-
I guess, since most of them will leave when it becomes difficult to find ammo or guns... But still it wouldn't create a black and white morality system if done right, no need to kill people over a gut feeling unless they start acting strange. Just because someone has killed another player doesn't mean they want to kill you too. It already is a black and white system, leaning most heavily on the bad side(I would say black but that sounds racist) "trust no one" goes without saying but where's the fun in almost never being able to have a civil conversation besides with people you know or people who don't have weapons. Especially geared players, meeting doesn't have to turn in to a meaningless fight. Meaningless because whoever wins the other is never going to be able to carry all the stuff they have whereas a "this guy seems alright" gut feeling could create a friendship. I don't see why people shouldn't be encouraged to act the way normal people would in a survival situation such as this. People would work together not just fight, groups would be made and they'd fight why can't that be encouraged? It shouldn't be up to friends on Steam alone to organize groups but otherwise everyone's so ridiculously hostile that it's nearly impossible to without using out of game features.
-
I suppose that could be decent in some cases but it shouldn't be a sure indicator of your eventual success. It'd be good for if some fool takes you on and you just want to beat some sense in to them, leave them on the brink and then maybe recruit them. Course that could bite you in the ass but not always, doubt anyone who goes so far as to add you on Steam would betray you suddenly. Not that they couldn't. They'd be better when it wasn't two immovable objects hitting each other until one falls down, like if you could push people around in a fight grunts would be great. Since I suppose you don't always intend to knock someone out or kill them but suddenly they drop down.
