    Loot on zombies

Well given the war zone look of the place some people clearly went down fighting be it getting bitten and turning or getting shot and succumbing to the infection. I would rather they just add dead bodies around with occasional loot I suggested that once in a gore topic, that and occasional loot on zombies would be great.

Are we going to get dismemberment/gore?

Thank you! My mind just could not think of how to say that, yeah all attacks need some kind of "oomph" to them. It'd be a lot easier to kill zombies if you could knock them down, for sure. However if they can knock you down and get the drop on you, you're most likely fucked so it would still be difficult especially against more than one. As for the dismemberment not being realistic, these are visibly decaying bodies so that could account for something and even if you couldn't lop off a limb in one strike you could certainly reach the bone and break it a bit, enough for the thing to not be walking after. Also: at around 4:20An axe could surely achieve something similar on a human body especially when someone would be swinging for their lives not to mention the centrifugal force would add a bit of force to it as well, it's not really comparable to hacking up meat on a kitchen counter.

Are we going to get dismemberment/gore?

Yeah I hope they can try get it along that way somewhat, like being able to stab people/zeds instead of just slash. I know the pitchfork "stabs" but it doesn't really go through and cause stabbing damage y'know. Pretty much like that. It would look stupid for sure but what else are they going to do besides make blood spray from the right places? We can't expect too much from this engine but that doesn't mean we should limit it to creatures being completely solid blocks that bleed from certain area's. Yeah that would also be good, failing that even just a shove. As long as it wasn't too overpowered and would sometimes require a bit of button bashing if they resisted. The main thing I want is more of a physical element to combat instead of just object A hits object B until one falls down. Dismemberment ties in with that, zombie going to take too much stamina or time for you to kill? Break or hack off it's leg and leave.

    Loot on zombies

I don't think military zombies should have that high a chance. I mean why did they die? Most likely, they ran out of bullets. They should have at best a couple of rounds or thinks like combat knives, rations maybe. Nothing that would make them a farmable resource to set you on your way, just minor chances for some helpful stuff.

Gold AKM for Loot Management System?

I'm inclined to say no. Like everyone would want it and would find it eventually, there'd be whole clans with them being badass gangsta bros. It promotes getting the weapon to kill things and people with, it's definitely a COD weapon. I see why there could be one or two in Chernaus, definitely it'd be a nice piece to hang on your wall but it would just make the general mindset in the game even more child-like. Upon landing on a beach nobody but nobody would instantly think "I need me some gold weapons to take care of these zombies!" The most exotic/unique thing I'd ever like to see is some kind of sword, like a cavalry sword or a claymore. Katana would be pushing it a bit and would be too weak realistically.

    gut feelings

Well, they do say that but who knows if it's really true or not, either it is or it's just a poor excuse for "I want to kill people l0l" I highly doubt the game will get all that much more difficult though it's not going to be that hard to find ammo or guns, else there'd be almost no point in having them. Half the people playing don't seem to want a survival game so if they start leaving because the lack of loot ammo and guns will find their way back in to common loot drops... All anyone is ever going to have to do is find a heli crash, not like they;d go to the effort of setting that up just to take it out. Not to mention that in future zombies will work properly so should be easier to kill, thus people will be out for a deathmatch once again.

    cutting down on snipers

I think it'd be a fine idea. So many people here whine about minor things "killing my immersions!" but whenever it's something that lets them kill people easily then that's fine  I mean let's face it, sniper scopes are for killing players. Scouting areas, maybe but they're for locating and killing players, there's literally never a situation where you need to snipe a zombie it's a stupid thing to do most times. Scopes are only good for non killing related things when it comes to scouting if you don't have binocs, which should be solved by being able to use them as monoculars. And I guess they're good for killing animals but you don't really need them, least not with current animal AI. So yeah if people want to be l33t snipers they should have to fiddle with scopes and actually know what they're doing, scarcity of ammo is only a minor inconvenience unless server hopping is banned people are still gonna get half an inventory of rounds and sit sniping popular locations. However they get any fun out of that... I wish people would stop acting like snipers are always easy to find, yeah, shit ones. Typically those wearing mountain backpacks or not even hiding, or ones that move a lot. It's pretty damn easy to conceal yourself in a tree or something and not everyone's gonna have binocs or whatever else to see them hundreds of meters away and it's not like you have time to survey every single tree round a whole town while you're starving to death. There's no use judging how hard snipers are to deal with from the perspective of someone with the tools to find them... Anyway, good suggestion snipers are pretty much useless as it is except for killing, of course not all rifle's should be scope-less by default though but ones with scopes should require the player to zero them in, which is both time consuming and risky.

    Zombie Play

But it could work if it was for like half an hour or something. I like the idea, Resident Evil 6 was an awful piece of shit but I had a lot of fun playing as zombies/monsters and ruining people's playthroughs. I think if you're not shot in the head you should come back for half an hour, the "you are dead" screen having a "continue" button or something with a random reanimation timer, should be anything between 60 seconds to like 150 maybe so they don't instantly spring back up making escape impossible. The explanation could be that once a person is infected they retain brain function for X amount of time and become bloodthirsty so they're who they were but desperate to kill. Would add an extra element of challenge to the game especially for people on the run with no time to double tap or bash a dead players head in. The main problem is that zombies are weak as shit and that's not likely to change, unless they can shove people around, grab them and even bite them it'd be hard to do anything significant. Though you may force them to use a bullet and alert other zombies. Zombies on the whole would have to be more of an opposing force physically. Currently they're like an MMO character where you just press 1 and they stand there auto-attacking. I'm not sure the game could be that complex.

Like I said they could make a system that records the things people do. If a fresh spawn raises their fists, recorded. If said fresh spawn punches someone, recorded. If they are then killed the above information = defensive kill. Same for shooting. The server must already record details like these to some extent so I don't think it would be that complicated to make a system like this. It knows already if person A fires their gun and where the bullet lands and it knows person B is around where the bullet landed, it doesn't know that person A was shooting at person B but the system I envision would link these so it then "knows" that person A is trying to kill person B and if they succeed it's recorded as an offensive kill. There would be mistakes, definitely but I'm sure they could get it to a point where it worked really well. I'm not sure on "good guy" status though I'm more inclined to it being alright, can't tell, sketchy, definitely bad, Satan. Bit dumb to meet someone and have it be like "This guy is Jesus reborn!" That way people can't bullshit it to get Jesus status then turn evil. They should just get "alright" status from giving people things and if they really are Jesus level good well, I'm sure they'll show it just like Satan level dudes will probably kill you before you get that classification :P (obviously I'm joking with the whole Jesus/Satan thing but you get the idea) So yeah it should refer to mostly neutral and bad people not "good" because any good action like giving things, people could just spam until they have 1000 good karma and can do whatever they want. I mean take 2 guys, what's to stop them swapping inventories 1 item at a time and ramping up their good karma/whatever? If on the good side of things all you get is "alright" then there's not much point spamming such a thing, you still could but you have almost no chance of meeting a group or pair and not being killed anyway unless they take pity on you or you kill first. Do you honestly think no more than a handful of people think that way? There are no moral issues dealt with in the game at all, certainly not in players heads hardly anyone stops and thinks "I should help that guy" or have you not played the game much? You get the odd nonviolent person but walk up to anyone with guns and they'll shoot you unless you're a fresh spawn, even then they'll most likely shoot you... The players themselves have ruined all moral tension in the game, sooner or later everyone has the "fuck it" moment if they were ever helpful.

So we've all experienced it, presumably. Having a fight with someone or a zombie up close, suddenly "You are unconscious" or dead. So about some messages in the text feed like "I can't take much more of this" "I am in pain" etc? In a real fight I think it would be fairly evident whether or not you're about to collapse, you can't account for suddenly being hit over the head or anything like that but you can tell if you're dying. In game though you never know you're about to get knocked out or die until you do. So messages like this as well as after a fight "I feel woozy" or "I need rest" Nobody has a serious life or death brawl with someone then casually runs away for miles on end even though one more hit would knock them out, you should have to recuperate based on how much damage you took and how much stamina you used up. Nobody wants the text feed being cluttered though but I think audio cues would be a bad idea, punching a guy and suddenly he cries out you know you're winning, that's not to say that there should be any screams of pain while fighting but no definite indicator that you're opponent is about to be knocked unconscious. I guess in a fight the screen could flash? Something like that, then the rest of the things could be status messages that slowly escalate if you don't rest until you simply collapse.

Yeah those would be cool. It's either suggestions like these or a stamina bar, either way not being able to know how close you are to death or being knocked out is dumb in a fight, other than if you're hit over the head or something like that. Obviously you couldn't really prepare or predict being knocked out but in a brawl, you'd definitely know you were losing at least. Off the point but it would be cool if you started muscular and could get weaker if you don't get proper food etc and slightly stronger if you do, just so fresh spawns can't run up and punch a geared player out in seconds.

    gut feelings

I guess, since most of them will leave when it becomes difficult to find ammo or guns... But still it wouldn't create a black and white morality system if done right, no need to kill people over a gut feeling unless they start acting strange. Just because someone has killed another player doesn't mean they want to kill you too. It already is a black and white system, leaning most heavily on the bad side(I would say black but that sounds racist) "trust no one" goes without saying but where's the fun in almost never being able to have a civil conversation besides with people you know or people who don't have weapons. Especially geared players, meeting doesn't have to turn in to a meaningless fight. Meaningless because whoever wins the other is never going to be able to carry all the stuff they have whereas a "this guy seems alright" gut feeling could create a friendship. I don't see why people shouldn't be encouraged to act the way normal people would in a survival situation such as this. People would work together not just fight, groups would be made and they'd fight why can't that be encouraged? It shouldn't be up to friends on Steam alone to organize groups but otherwise everyone's so ridiculously hostile that it's nearly impossible to without using out of game features.

I suppose that could be decent in some cases but it shouldn't be a sure indicator of your eventual success. It'd be good for if some fool takes you on and you just want to beat some sense in to them, leave them on the brink and then maybe recruit them. Course that could bite you in the ass but not always, doubt anyone who goes so far as to add you on Steam would betray you suddenly. Not that they couldn't. They'd be better when it wasn't two immovable objects hitting each other until one falls down, like if you could push people around in a fight grunts would be great. Since I suppose you don't always intend to knock someone out or kill them but suddenly they drop down.
  14. UltimateGentleman

Which has nothing to do with lying or guy feelings. You shouldn't get a gut feeling over a sudden decision, what are you even talking about? Should only happen for initial non combat meetings to let you know if you definitely should be wary or if you should chill out, dumb to trust anyone but smart to simply be careful not hostile. The situation you described is very unlikely, another person to bash zombies heads in would be very beneficial only once they become a burden or if sacrificing them would save you would that be considered. Other than by psychopaths.

True but in most cases you know that you can't go on and I've never experienced that, I've experienced it going gray when I've been hit a lot and/or lost a lot of blood. But not in the middle of a fight I've only ever just dropped down dead or unconscious really, occasional "my arm is sore" or "my leg is sore" It's a bitch move to run away when you're about to die but in real life I'm fairly sure most people would try to since they don't respawn especially against zombies.

Forgetting that people in this landscape would be completely different, hungry, angry, desperate. It'd be damn easy to work out what people really wanted from you by looking at them it's not shady businessmen who lie for a living it's people who'd do anything to survive. And there's a huge difference between a white lie and a "soon as your turn around I'm going to kill you" lie. You'd have to be a pretty poor judge of character to not realize someone simply wants your stuff. How would it be impossible to deceive people? KOSers would make it harder for themselves really if people get a gut feeling from them and they do just kill them everyone will run away or start a fight upon getting a gut feeling. Just because you want to be a dick with no consequences doesn't mean everyone wants to put up with it. Why shouldn't friendly gameplay be encouraged? It's not going to turn in to a friendly only game is it? At best it's going to be 50/50 there will always be CoD kiddies and people who just want a fight playing the game, why do you all have to act like any friendliness is a bad thing it's not like we're asking for friendly fire or anything lame like that, just something that makes people think "Oh hey maybe I won't kill this guy after all let's be bro's" It's still going to be a rare event but as it is now...why play DayZ when you can get just as much fun playing an FPS since it's just about killing?

Sudden instant death and player Hit Points

Wot? That can't be right, if it is it definitely shouldn't be that way that's just stupid. Down to one hit point and you're that way forever? Even if you get to healthy status...

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Well then they should educate themselves instead of acting like a higher intelligence while proving they're not. I look forward to how I imagine the control system might work, select an item, press circle to drop or x to select square to craft. Better than the PC version currently where you have to hover over it and wait for it to come up with your options, though I guess that will change it will probably always lag a little for some people. Control wise my main hope is for custom controls. And also what would be really cool is using the touchpad for things like bandaging, PC could have a QTE thing I guess but "press f" to bandage is fairly lame I assume things like that will take longer in the form of activities at some point, pressing one button to heal yourself kind of takes away from the whole survival thing.

Why should that be allowed? Everyone has the right to enjoy the game don't they? I don't see why that sort of attitude should be tolerated. Anyway not much of an issue here are bad players going to cry because a message comes up for people suggesting they might be? They're probably aiming to kill who they're talking to anyway so...what's the issue? Boo hoo it might be a bit harder to deceive people but it's already dull in that that's almost all there is in the game, it's not like negative gameplay styles are being rejected it's the positive ones that don't get a helping hand. Why should everyone feel obligated to be a dick? It being 50/50 would be way more interesting. Currently if you don't immediately assume someone you see is going to attack well you haven't played the game long enough. I don't see what people find so exciting about it all being murder and torture. It should never be so black and white as you are bad or you are good karma but some indication that you would obviously get in real life would be fantastic for people who want to co-operate and survive. People who don't have plenty guns etc to kill people with, so what's the harm?

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

DayZ has a story to dumb down? I've played over 200 hours...never seen a story. They don't need to dumb down the game at all, maybe they will and that will suck but they don't have to the game would run fine on both consoles, if it can run on my crappy computer it can run on them so there's no need to change the gameplay at all, aside from menu's and control schemes but well, those are obvious and necessary differences.
  21. UltimateGentleman

    gut feelings

I don't think it would be all that difficult really. Of course I don't know the specifics but I'm sure most of the details needed are already recorded in the server, who fired what gun and who killed who etc. I doubt they could make it perfect but it would be a cool feature that to my knowledge has never really been done before. Hmm, I'm inclined to say no to that posture part I don't think a system like this should really alter the look of your character at all, there's plenty people in the world who look like nice people but it's only when you meet them up close and see their behaviour that you can tell they're a little funky. The only thing that there's an issue with is that people could go on mad killing sprees, get a buddy to kill them and watch their stuff then gear up again having a "neutral" avatar, then they could help a few people and be "good" While simply preparing to slaughter every unsuspecting fool who takes the messages to heart. I guess people would learn that the messages are simply a guideline and not necessarily fact they shouldn't be so blunt as to say "this guy is evil run away or kill him" just something like "this person gives me an odd feeling" and for positive "this person feels welcoming" perhaps. Lot of people are just going to kill over the "odd" or "bad" feeling, for sure. But I don't think that's any reason to not attempt this system at all, at least it would get some people talking and being friendly instead of just instantly shooting each other. If people have more freedom to engage each other and backstab each other rather than just kill from a distance that would be great. Currently you're a dumbass to just go up to people but with this system involved you could walk up to them with your hands up in a desperate situation like starving and if their avatar doesn't get a threatening feeling from you maybe they'll help. Killing everyone you meet isn't surviving, anything to reinforce that is very positive.
  22. UltimateGentleman

    gut feelings

Yeah but still not hard to pretend and it's hard to go by someone's voice alone they could just sound like a douchebag but not be or sound nice but be a douchebag like you've never seen before. Appearance is a far greater tell in most cases, the looks people give you, the slight twitches of them suppressing their anger over something you said, the sweat on someone's face from being nervous. The game can't show you these things so it takes an important line of defence you have in real life out of meetings. We need a GUI because without one we don't get a buttload of information available to everyone with their senses you can't eat or smell a fruit in the game and personally know it tastes rotten the game has to tell you and only giving you visuals is a bad way to do it as with food it can look delicious but smell like it'd take down an elephant. "Nobody has a GUI in real life" arguments don't cut it, this is a game, it needs to make up for the real life features it just can't have. Not really, usually it doesn't even get as far as a conversation :P Bandit skin is a bad idea as is this purely being based on kills it should take in to account multiple things to build up a "profile" of your avatar essentially. Like if you're geared up and you shoot fresh spawns that should count towards you being bad. But if they attacked first or had a weapon ready then it shouldn't. Same as with any player if they were shooting at you it should count as a self defence kill. They'd have to develop a system to calculate these things of course but it'd be do-able, way better than gaining a bad guy skin.
  23. UltimateGentleman

    gut feelings

No but the game can't give you the same feeling you get in real life can it? I think it's a good idea. Just because you get the message that someone is a bad player doesn't mean you should instantly kill them or just run away too, just that you should watch your back. The game is never going to be so complex as real life, you won't be able to look at a players avatar and just know they're crazy like you would in real life. It's not hard to tell what kind of person someone is at all, especially in this world where you're either a killer, not or will do anything to survive it'd be immediately obvious to anyone surviving and meeting people in this situation who to stay the fuck away from. But the game can't get that across to you at all. It's definitely better than "MrSwagKilla killed MrDoughnut" messages showing up isn't it? So that after you see MrSwagKilla having killed 20 people you stay away. Assuming that they have or use a microphone at all. It's not hard to pretend over the internet either nobody is seeing your face as you put on that evil "He gon' die!" grin. There's nothing wrong with status messages. You can't feel that your avatar is hungry so what would the use be in the game not notifying you? The only problem is how it works, it would need to be like if you're talking to someone and looking at them I think. So that you couldn't be trying to sneak up on someone 10m away and have them know you're there because "I sense an evil presence nearby...!"

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Well I imagine they'll have got more funding and probably team members from Sony it's not like they're forcing 5 guys to make 2 games now. Previous console versions were dumbed down because the hardware was pathetic in comparison they can easily handle DayZ right now, it's not that taxing a game... And it's not even optimized currently. I hope we get beta access for the PS4 version I'd like some time to get used to whatever control system is in play. Or alpha if it's going to take many months longer than the PC one.
  25. I think you're misunderstanding the people who play this game :P They're never going to be that hard to maintain, not for a group of four buddies one guy can just carry all the car related stuff, another the driver and the other two AKM's. It's only going to be possible to take people in cars out who are heading towards you if they can't shoot back, which would just be a lame thing to not include. The problem is you can't run away from a car at least guys you could get away from but if you're anywhere out in the open at all you're utterly screwed. I'm not saying no to cars at all but mounted guns and armoured vehicles would just be ridiculous. Where would people be finding all the 30-50 cal rounds for a mounted machine gun anyway? Another thing is that they'd make it far too easy to handle zombies besides a barricaded base nothing should effectively make you invincible against them.
