Except that it's not. KOS is PKPWWAOTATWETAA Player Kills Player Who Wasn't Aware Of Them And Thus Wasn't Engaging Them At All. There is no "versus" involved in being shot in the back of the head from someone 300m away you never knew existed. The story changes if you were in an airfield or something looking for a fight but killing bambi's and whatnot is just sad really. It's not winning it's being a loser if you can't take on people who can defend themselves you suck.

New map in the future?...whats the rumours?
UltimateGentleman replied to svisketyggeren's topic in General Discussion
I don't see what's bad about that to be honest it's not like everybody would stop playing the original map. I don't care if it's arcadey I'd love it if they made some kind of island where everyone just kills each other. Whenever I want to PVP right now I pretty much never find people unless it's at an airfield and getting sniped at isn't exciting nor is sitting around waiting to snipe. Plus that would take away some of the people who want to do that from the original map maybe it'd be less of a boring deathmatch since there's a genuine deathmatch for them. As well as a "hardcore" landscape with like no guns, somewhere in Britain would be cool we don't have all that many guns it's just like farmers, hunters and skeet shooters that have actual guns most others have air rifles. I'd love to have a map in a pseudo Scottish area it can be a pretty harsh terrain with all the hills, marshes etc and there's not many convenient apple trees etc to live off of you'd have to rely on hunting with bows, air rifles and traps. Or fishing. That'd be great fun instead of cities and towns small villages and cabins with not all that much loot. Of course currently you can just use a bow to hunt and not bother with guns...but just pretending you have to isn't nearly as fun as being forced to in order to survive. DLC would be great so long as there weren't any DLC exclusive items that would give people huge advantages back in Chernaus, like an epic gun of some sort. Perhaps when the PS4 version is out they'll be pushed to make content like that since it'll also be competing with H1Z1 on that system. Mods would be cool but I'd rather buy/download something from Bohemia themselves. -
If he's bending down to light camp fires he's hardly going to be an extremely dangerous threat. What sense is there to being so freaking hostile? Caution does the job, be ready to take your gun out at any time and don't fully trust people it's pretty easy. I don't get why people are so ridiculously frightened or say they are is if that makes KOS and being a douchebag legit. Stupid to kill people under the presumption they have stuff you need or might kill you for your stuff anyway. You know what they are? Extra storage. You probably can't carry all the goods they have so they're wasted not to mention most likely ruined if you shot them. Unless you're starving and they won't feed you it's a way better idea to befriend them, not only are they extra storage they're a lookout and half the time it takes you to search a building. Nobody who lives like people play DayZ would live very long in an apocalypse like this...
-
Well in answer to that guys post the extra money Bohemia get from PS4 sales and X1 if they make that to will let them make far better games than DayZ which is pretty weak these days it's been in development so long that it's outdated. Hopefully all the money they get allows them to hire tons more people and make great games way faster.

Which is completely different from hunting a deer because mostly you NEED to hunt a deer for food or whatever, the guy didn't need to kill that unsuspecting fool he done it to be a dick. I don't see the appeal to this kind of action at all. I'd rather shoot someone dead if they look like they'd open up on me and haven't noticed me but otherwise it's sad to just get people when they're back is turned and they're not being hostile, it's extremely cowardly. No different from sitting in the corner of a room waiting for people to walk in and blowing them away. Lame and unnecessary. But since they're tricking them I guess it's cool and intelligent huh  And people say playstyles like that have no influence from CoD games etc Yeah but why? It was a cowardly action, he obviously didn't need to kill them he done it for fun don't compare it to outsmarting an animal it's just not, making a snap decision to kill someone in a game doesn't make you a badass.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
UltimateGentleman replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Artificial difficulty refers to things being harder than they should be. It's "artificial" in that in real life it'd be easy to kill these zombies with an axe or any stabbing weapon, you could swing an axe and hit them right in the head with no problems or just let them run in to a pointed weapon but in DayZ they make it so you have to pathetically swing weapons from side to side hitting a static target. Yeah it's just awful. I downloaded Shadow Warrior yesterday which is a remake of an old action/FPS game similar to doom. It's melee blows DayZ out of the water and it's incredibly arcadey. I wonder if DayZ could have a melee system where you control what way weapons are swinged? Up down, left right, stab, heck even parry. That would be great, you could slash someone's leg with an axe or break it with a baseball bat so they can't walk etc. Not sure how it would work with a mouse though I guess holding the attack button which locks the camera then move the mouse in the desired swing direction. Really though if that's possible at all they should definitely try it. Imagine how epic it'd be having fire axe battles with people, being able to deflect their axe instead of you both just strafing and hoping the other guy gets to 0HP faster than you. Melee in this game needs way more attention guns are alright for now they just need optimized. -
About base building and base raping.
UltimateGentleman replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
Well, that depends on how much a base looks like a base if you can just use containers like cupboards in a house you could make it look like nobody lives there. Maybe the person just logged out in that house for refuge, log in maybe have a look around and then leave like any other building. Of course if there was boxes of stuff stacked around they'd know it was a base. I think there shouldn't be so much base "building" as there is "claiming" houses that were already built etc. Barricades etc, fence walls if they'll be a thing shit like that should be something it's only wise to make if you're in a group living somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I like the idea of base building but server hopping needs abolished somehow first. Someone can lock all their shit in a house then go off to other servers and collect more, their base on the other server is locked so nobody will get in with the right tools anyway. Bases will just be stupid safe zones for server hoppers. I guess the only option would be is for you to have 1 character per server so you can't take any loot from another server at all. Could get kind of annoying but once you found a trustworthy, functional server with a population you like it'd be decent. -

I mean the message as "This guy gives me a strange feeling" not that bit on the end. It's still not definite they might have killed someone that looked threatening it'd be dumb not to shoot a fully geared guy with an AKM going door to door. Of course people would often just shoot them right away but it'd cut down the amount of people that do and gradually create a somewhat more friendly playerbase while also retaining the douchebags, it'd be lame if nobody was a killer but as near as makes no difference everyone is. So it's not necessarily an indication of who's bad but who's damaged from killing various amounts of people, or those who have helped people. As long as the messages were vague it'd be ok "this guy seems alright" "I feel like I shouldn't turn my back on him" That guy seems alright. He might still shoot you in the face after you make a trade though, he doesn't want the item he needs getting ruined after all. And as I said in that topic positive messages should be limited to one or two nothing like "this guy has max karma from giving bandages to people he won't shoot me" Even if people are doing positive actions to just be a dick to the next guy that comes along that still ups the amount of friendly, even if false interactions. Then maybe everyone wouldn't be so geared towards murdering everything. -
I meant it's silly to leave it so that it's only available to groups with the manpower to get every car it should only take hours to get broken ones going and by extension the most useful ones should be broken the most often, offroad vehicles trucks etc. Standard day to day civilian vehicles shouldn't be that hard to get up and running, for a fresh spawn having to go on a trek to get fuel if that's what it needs is still risky they'd have to be lucky to be near a station. Or to find the part the car needs, it should be possible but not always of course. It's not like having a car would automatically make you win anyway if it's a car where a clan are gathering vehicles if they see you driving round you're in for a struggle... Or an epic infiltration, wouldn't it be cool if you could hide in the boot with your gun ready, in the hopes that they go to their base before checking the boot. Of course if you're not fast enough they could just shoot you when they open the boot but it'd be great against an unprepared group. Hopefully we get options like that. Another thing that'd be great about being able to operate cars early on if you get lucky is using them as bait, leave it in the middle of the road perhaps with a few dead zombies around it to look authentic and hold up or kill whoever checks it out.

No if you read the topic that's not what I was talking about, all I want it to say is something along the lines of "This guy gives me a strange feeling" you know he's probably killed people, not necessarily going to kill you. Not "Quick kill him now!" But you can't observe in the game that's the problem you can't see what you would see in that world you hear a relaxed person talking to you normally, mostly. You don't see the tired and desperate individual they would be and if they don't have voice chat you can't tell anything at all you get an extremely basic way to tell if they're going to attack you and only if they're idiots and let it slip. And I know what you mean I'm pretty much a sociopath but that doesn't mean psycho or sociopaths would completely hold it together when they're day to day surviving they wouldn't be relaxed when they've been attacked by zombies, been shot at, been cutting up people and whatever else. If someone was like that in the DayZ world their switch would be flipped you would see and hear that they're on edge. The people playing this game generally I hope aren't actual psychopaths they're just being loltastic badasses they don't expertly hide their intentions due to a life of hiding who they are they can talk to you normally then switch their voice chat off for a few seconds to laugh at you and discuss with their bro's how they should mess with you. It doesn't work like how it would in real life so voice chat alone is a very poor way to determine what people are. So gut feeling makes up for what the game lacks in emotional and physical characteristics that the people definitely would have but don't because they're at home in real life. -

UltimateGentleman replied to con_hathy (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Oh yeah no, I agree with that for sure some kind of depression and/or "stress" would be great but it shouldn't negatively impact you from killing players. Being attacked constantly, near death, starving etc should have you fairly messed up no matter your level of sanity, it'd be great if we got the shakes from all that trauma. As if it's so easy as that those 3 questions aren't good enough to decide if you should kill someone on sight they could be anyone just because they run up to you doesn't mean they're going to attack you, they probably will but not always they could be new or actually nice. That's not what the gut feeling I mean describes, just because the dude "seems a little off" doesn't mean he is going to attack you it means be on guard. If people look at it so black and white as he's a bad guy kill him, they're idiots. And it'd be pretty blatant whether or not someone is crazy in a world like this you don't get time to prepare lies you're not sitting at home on a couch all comfortable you'd be on edge, hungry, shaky. You CAN'T use your own observation in the game because it lacks the detail the person would have in that situation. Nobody would stroll up to you in a suit looking all normal with a suave accent and then gut you it'd be blatantly obvious they were nuts. Stop acting like people in the game act like people would in an apocalyptic survival situation, they're at home eating Cheetos and drinking Mountain Dew playing a game, it's not hard to lie at all they're not under any pressure to fight for their lives. -

UltimateGentleman replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
There's a huge problem with that system though. Say your base is in Berenzino(only name I know) in the police station for instance. Someone goes there on another server, to get loot then hop to another server, the standard. They come to your server and suddenly they're spawned outside the radius somewhere. At that point they know a base was at the police station so they can come right over and kill you. I think there are enough places in the game for it to be possible to stay safe almost forever you just need to be smart don't make a base in the city make one in the middle of nowhere, people will still probably spawn in your base at some point but if you pick a good spot it's going to be a rare event. The only thing that could work is if they spawn outside this radius when you're playing and you get warned they're there, I guess. Otherwise they just spawn in your base and hopefully can't get locked containers open. And I wonder if they could make a system where if you find a base and wait for the unsuspecting fool to spawn in you get "kicked" out the base so they have time to prepare. Of course these things make no sense that's not happening in real life but nor does spawning and it's unfair to be able to just wait for someone to magically appear in their home and take them out. Another thing that could potentially works is form up a radius when the players doors are locked, other players can still get in but with the right tools only. -

I wouldn't like being restricted by some emotion system that impacts my gameplay... I don't like people at all seeing them die doesn't bother me, I wouldn't go killing them and don't in the game only when necessary but it wouldn't make me depressed so why should it in game? "emotion" is a bad way to do it in my opinion. That gut feeling idea was the best one I feel. If someone has killed tons of people you get a message saying "this guy seems wrong/crazy" so what you would take from your real life visual feedback the game tells you, it doesn't negatively impact the "bad" player or buff the "good" player but it gives everyone an indication of who or what they might be dealing with. -
And yet you're saying people want a shoot 'em up zombie game, if that's the case why is it not advertised as such? It's a survival game, the players just ruined it by making it a PVP deathmatch all round PVP was always going to be a thing but it's not the highlight of the game, granted it can be the most interesting thing to do currently but it's not what the game is for you're supposed to be immersed and feel like a survivor. What kind of fool would immediately go find guns and start shooting everyone? It's a stupid mentality people brought in to the game that's stuck that's not what they made the game to be and not what they want it to be, why should they deviate from their original ideas. The mod is the mod, the standalone is the standalone it doesn't matter if the mod didn't have some things it's a first draft essentially. They shouldn't not add things because the mod didn't have it and they make it more difficult it's not supposed to be a walk in the park and it's gradually becoming a run through a hallway filled with shattered glass, that's also on fire. What good would it be recreating the mod? People still play the mod if that's what the people want apparently well they can go buy ARMA and download it.

I can't see how that isn't silly though I mean who would really do that? Unless you had a destination in mind or somehow knew there were no other cars that's no kind of real situation someone would put themselves through unless they'd bumped their head one too many times. Cars should be way more accessible than that, not one for every person but not hard to get going in all cases. It should sometimes be possible upon spawning under the right circumstances, maybe someone got out their car to help someone and died leaving the keys right there. It's still not advisable to take the car, everyone will see or hear you and it doesn't guarantee your survival but as an option why not? Lets face it clans probably won't hog all the cars they'll take like 3 and break the other ones just to be dicks, it'd be better if there were more so that they definitely don't become restricted to clans and very lucky people. There should be an expansive variety rather than an arbitrary difficulty to it. Crashed cars with keys, pristine cars with no keys(requires pliers or something to hotwire), cars in hot zones, cars in need of a part or a few, military trucks with flat tires, relatively ok cars with a zombie in them. A big variety to make it a huge effort for any clan to get them all going, unnecessary effort. Then other people can take some joy in having a vehicle. Off the point but I hope there will be some in game message like flashing headlights to indicate that players want to race, that'd be a lot of fun when it gets boring after having got everything you need and being unkillable in terms of supplies.
-
Again. That is NOT what the game IS that's what MOST of the PLAYERS have decided it is and turned the player base in to. Why the hell should they change the game to cater to people who aren't playing it as intended? They have plenty money from early access to not need to so they're probably not going to. Which is great for those of us who want a genuine survival experience not a do anything and you get shot for no reason experience. Would you kindly read: "Welcome to the world of DayZ, hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few that have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population now infected with the disease. Go solo, team up with friends or take on the world, as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive." http://store.steampowered.com/app/221100/ Does it say the focus is on PVP? /argument
-
Well then they're misinformed fools that's not the game was intended to be it's a survival experience with zombies PVP is just a thing it's the players that turned the game in to a bloodbath but that's not what the game is. Just because you paid for a game doesn't mean the devs should incorporate every one of your ideas in to it  There's been plenty information about the game for it to be obvious what direction the game would take, I knew before I got it and never played the mod people who buy it thinking it's an open world CoD zombies game only have themselves to blame. Why should they change the game just because a bunch of people didn't read what it's about? I don't want my shoes to degrade in real life but they do, in fact I need to buy a pair soon or I'll be getting blisters. This game is trying to imitate real life as best as it can. People who don't want that feature can suck it up and go play something else or just deal with it like everyone has been dealing with broken zombies, murderous ladders etc etc for a looong time.
-
Why do the majority of players i encounter suck?
UltimateGentleman replied to drjuanitor's topic in General Discussion
Hold up... Does the chat we have now not work anymore? IS THAT WHY nobody has ever responds now? Although I'm sure I seen people talking on it once it could have been admins. I think they should add that back in, it's better than talking to people with shitty headsets or those playing awful music it's not realistic to have chat for sure but it's also not realistic for people to be talking to you with interference and/or coming out of their mouths. That would be good enough if people would use it but I dunno if chat works now I've had people stop and look around after I've said "Yo" from behind a wall but I've NEVER had a response even from a dude I was paired up for a while. Are people just so ridiculously paranoid that they think if they stop to type at all they'll get attacked? I was giving this one guy food he needed, pick of loot we found and he wouldn't talk back I even said nod your head if you can see this and he did, this was many months ago since then nobody has responded at all. Side chat isn't "mystical" it just compensates for what people don't have, good headsets, good voices, signal etc. -
But that's pointlessly difficult though it shouldn't outright be that hard to get or run every car, realistically there'd be tens or even hundreds of working ones that might need a bit of gas and be a bit rusty but they'd work. Out of the 10 vehicles there should be like 3 or 4 that require one thing be it fuel, new tire or whatever it shouldn't be difficult for just one person cars aren't that hard to look after only when something goes wrong does it get complicated but day to day function, no problem. The main issue I see is fuel, how much is there in Chernaus? Is every station full? Half full? Empty? Can they all run out? I realize it doesn't quite fit in with the landscape but it would be cool if cars were sustainable in a realistic way like electric ones with solar panels to charge them up. Otherwise how do they maintain the fuel levels? If it was a persistent thing that would run out well what do you need cars for other than to mess around in? And if it didn't run out, well that's just stupid. Is there any realistic way we could make fuel besides solar cells? Because getting it will be almost impossible, clans will just live at stations and vehicles will be a clan only item which is lame.
-
^Yes. This is why we need resting/sleeping when logging off to recover a bit of damage from sore feet and the most they should do is make you unable to walk. Which is just as fatal as knocking you unconscious since if you can't run from zombies, well, you dead son. Unless you've got plenty ammo.
-
How about no because the game isn't about what people want it's about putting the player in as realistic a world as possible, if it they added everything people wanted well then we'd just have a generic shit zombie game with 50 cal snipers, rocket launchers and ammo pickups everywhere. Shoes should degrade, it doesn't matter if you don't care about shoes they're important to survival... Why don't you try going barefoot for a week walking round the streets? You won't be walking long and you'll be in incredible pain. That said from what I read here the speed of degradation is definitely unacceptable it should take much longer, 10-20 hours per shoe type I'd say since the game is going to be having shorter days that's going to equate to many, so I guess it's kind of fair. The main problems are how they degrade and what shoes degrade... Could it not be that if you run across rocky terrain your shoes get wrecked faster and fields etc they barely get wrecked at all? Mountain boots shouldn't be bothered by muddy fields, running shoes should get wrecked by them but allow the player to run faster. I hope they develop it that far at least instead of the ground no matter what doing a constant amount of damage. So many people complain that the game is "Running Simulator 2014" well guess what this is how running works, shoes get wrecked. I guess they have something new to complain about now as always.
-
Definitely the way to go it shouldn't be that hard to get a vehicle going but with only 10 max they're still rare, you might find one seconds after spawning but you might not have needed items to operate it anyway not like it's going to be GTA where you just hit triangle and boom drive whatever the crap you want. Also YES we need some mopeds too or even dirt bikes, they'd be awesome especially for your base you could make a quick getaway on one of them and perhaps they could add some kind of tarp sheet to camo them a bit? That would be great. And of course a dirt bike or moped is going to be very loud so it's not perfect either plus you're vulnerable to gunfire and zombie attacks. I'd actually rather them than cars to be honest, mostly because I don't play with friends I guess.
-
I sure as hell hope it doesn't take that much effort to get them going. It'd be extremely ridiculous if every single car in the place needed a new engine for one thing, there's no feasible way all cars would have been used and crashed during the wave of infection, people would have died before getting to their cars, or died in their cars with the keys in the ignition. It should be that random but maybe with 1 arbitrary element of challenge like if you find a working car with keys...no gas or a deflated tire. I agree with this it's just silly to have every car broken there's no need to make things pointlessly difficult, why can't it just be a realistic landscape? People would have abandoned cars after running out of fuel etc. Pristine cars of course should be rare and damaged common but they shouldn't all be broken and require a million parts to get cars aren't that hard to maintain. It should mostly get hard when you crash and break shit in the car, if you want it back you need to work for it. Or if you want something like a Jeep it should be harder to fix since it'd be great off-road. As long as it's random pristine cars would be fine, random but reasonable locations, random state of repair/needs.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
UltimateGentleman replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
All they need to do I think is add in a stealth kill function. Because let's face it it's pretty shit how you have to slash them with tools you could obviously just stab them in the head with, a sickle for instance. They obviously couldn't make the game have such complex controls that you could stab them like characters in The Walking Dead do and that would be too easy but stealth kills should be a thing. Of course it can be hard to sneak up on zombies but if you get behind them, least in my experience they don't notice you. It's still not going to be easy to not fuck up the situation but it makes zombies a lot more realistically kill-able without making it too easy. -
Yeah but can you imagine how iffy the Kinect would be? It'd take them a long time to get it working right "make splint!" "one fireplace kit coming right up" It'd get very annoying I'd imagine. PS4 could have some cool features with the touchpad like for bandaging, rub a finger in a circle mimicking the animation to get it done. Other things like that maybe they could add an activity for using a weapon cleaning kit even. Gives them more room to lay out the controls in an ergonomic fashion and not have too many functions mapped to the one button.
