    I hate bambi

No I'm saying that bami behaviour is a by-product of KOS, of course there probably were a few crazy players to begin with messing around but at this point everyone you see, pretty much, is going to shoot you and now that everyone has turbo mode it's almost impossible to escape. Least you can do is annoy them before they kill you.

    I hate bambi

As Whyherro said it's equally unrealistic to just shoot everyone maybe if you were starving and they clearly had a lot of stuff but bambi's obviously don't. The only legit excuses for that in real life would be 1 The person is a psychopath and would probably have been shooting up schools were it not for the virus 2 They're similarly crazy and think everyone is a zombie 3 They somehow knew the person and that they're assholes Just the same as killing bambi's because one attacked you once or twice isn't fair on bambi's. Well it shouldn't just be for bambi's. Especially since if you're lucky you can just run back and get your gear one time I died at the NE airfield twice in a row and both times I spawned less then 10 minutes away so got my gear and the dudes I'd killed gear as well. All round timer would stop that kind of thing mostly(spawns should still be random) If you try to help them/be friendly with them and they attack by all means gun them down it's not like you have to bitch out and run away with your AKM but otherwise keep a watchful eye if they go off and find an axe then come back beware.

A possible solution for communicating physiological needs

1 Coldness could just be conveyed through the shaking of hands in first or third person. 2 How would you see they were sweating? I think that should just be conveyed with heavy breathing and a lack of stamina, perhaps even damp clothes. 3 Could just have their stomachs making odd noises. 4 Stomach growling. 5 Pain enough to warrant that should just limit movement if your character is limping, sore leg of course. I think it'd be better for these things to be as your playing not in the inventory screen were the text based system to be scrapped. The only issues really for status messages would be how are healthy, hydrated and energized shown? I guess for healthy your skin could be colourful, otherwise dull. Hydrated...maybe when you drink enough liquid to get hydrated your character could let out a satisfied "ahh..." Perhaps the same for energized.

    I hate bambi

Why shouldn't bambi's get to do that? RETRIBUTION for all the KOS bullshit people do to bambi's on the coast. Why the fuck should people get rewarded for killing bambi's by having them be forced to wait half an hour? That's a terrible idea it's not like every bambi does the same thing not to mention if you die under glitchy circumstances, glitched and flew in to the air falling to your death? Can't play for half an hour. Plus I paid for this game it'd be kind of bullshit for other players to stop me being able to play it for such a long time. 3 minutes at best, 30 seconds is indeed short. You know what's more annoying than bambi's who you can easily put down attacking you? Getting put down by players you couldn't possibly defend yourself against for no reason. Like bambi's are the problem in the game...

the bow is terrible at anything longer than melee range

How do they function compared to the professional looking arrows though? I hope they add another type of stick in for arrows like I said so you have the standard crappy stick arrows, half decent ones and then excellent compound arrows.
  6. UltimateGentleman

the bow is terrible at anything longer than melee range

Can you make arrows though? I hope they make bows decent weapons in the end they should be the near perfect stealth weapon I'd love to have one as a main and a pistol as my zombie killer it'd feel much more rewarding to survive with one rather than letting gunpowder do 90% of the legwork. Yeah they definitely need to streamline the process. You're probably better off using the axe you used to make your bow instead of the actual bow really and you'd have to be damn unlucky to not find several guns while looking for an ashwood stick, rope and an axe anyway. Bows should be something of a necessity for bambi's I think not something you have to go out of your way to get.

    Why all the judgement?

No that's just a poor excuse... How does that make nobody innocent? That makes no sense. We're not all out to just kill everyone and nobody "needs" all the items in the game especially not since stuff respawns now so there's even less of a bullshit logic behind they might have what I need. I mean what logic is that anyway? If you shoot them, you're probably breaking what you need. It's clearly just a shield people use because they can't admit they're playing a different game from everyone else.

the bow is terrible at anything longer than melee range

It of course needs to be a bit better to be viable but I think the main issue really is arrows, there are so few. Unless you get lucky you'll take forever to find 10, they're far too rare it's not like it's a godly insta-kill railgun it's an extremely basic weapon but because there's no ammo, ultimately pointless unless you happen to have an ashwood stick, rope and arrows and no other options. But fuck, running is a better option currently. That'd be great. Could add in some kind of big thick stick which you can either sharpen in to a spear for fishing or as a weapon or take some time to carve in to a bow. I want to be able to use a bow as a main weapon but with the amount of arrows you get currently, the range isn't even a problem. They should add another kind of stick to be made in to arrows, not the normal sticks we have now they'd be pathetic as arrows, maybe you could search bushes for straight sticks I dunno. Regardless the bows need serious tweaking.

    Why all the judgement?

Yeah but the only reason people fight each other is out of boredom which is stupid. "innocent" zones I was meaning as no designated battlefield like an airfield or Berenzino/any city if you go there and don't expect or aren't looking for a fight you're very very new. There's no reason to shoot someone on sight anywhere other than those places and in cities still not really. I mean...well done for killing bambi's? Lol It does excuse them from being a target because they shouldn't be in the first place. I love it so much when people try to justify KOS like if you see someone you have to shoot them or you'll die, it's retarded it's extremely easy to just avoid people why waste bullets when they're just trying to survive too?
  10. UltimateGentleman

    Why all the judgement?

That's entirely different those games are completely PVP focused DayZ is not, you can PVP but it's not a matchmaking based deathmatch game where the mission for everyone is to kill everyone. If someone isn't looking for a fight and gets sniper from miles away in somewhere innocent like any random town it's not PVP it's shooting fish in a barrel. If they seen you and tried to escape but you killed them, PVP. If they had no weapons at all and cowered in a corner while you came over to shoot them, PVP. If they didn't know you were there at all and wouldn't have noticed you on that kill 300m away it's KoS/camping. You can hardly classify PVP in DayZ exactly the same as an FPS or any other game specifically made for people to fight each other and nothing else(minus occasional co-op)
  11. UltimateGentleman

    Why all the judgement?

How about no? Exactly the same as shooting rabbits, they don't know you're there is it still a fight? If you don't know someone is there you're not against them in any way. No matter how much you belittle people you can't make that be fact.

About base building and base raping.

:P I think the only issue with that is where all your character info is stored if you play on 50 servers that's probably a lot of data in your folders and if it was server side it could get laggy with hundreds of players being saved on to it. But it's the best solution I can think of, the only issue is if a server gets very popular you won't be able to go on it much and access your main dude... But there's a delay between spawning and being able to move, where in which zombies can come attack you or you might just spawn next to them that'd be annoying. Plus if they add sleeping you need to be able to log out in a bed. The only other thing that could work is if you can't see any base items until you get a certain distance away unless you own the place. Like the base isn't there essentially you can open doors and such and leave as normal so long as the player that lives there isn't there. And if they are I guess just spawn outside the base.

    Players start with a map

Yeah I find myself using my iPod to navigate if needed I mostly know where to go once I get to certain places now but the in game map is basically useless. I don't see how a map being in 8 pieces all the time is all that realistic...fucking why? Do the zombies hate maps? How does that even happen if not? It's stupid. Either players should start with a map or they shouldn't be ripped up in the first place, I'm not collecting all 8 pieces to know where I'm going I might never find them all it's a huge waste of time. I can see the appeal for others to not using an app or whatever and collecting the map but it's a tedious and pointless task that need not be in the game really. They can easily replace torches which are also fairly useless unless you spawn in a map at night, otherwise if you don't live long enough to find another light source or build a fire you're either very unlucky or shit. The battery is the only decent thing out of the two and even then barely.
  14. UltimateGentleman

    Why all the judgement?

Except that it's not. KOS is PKPWWAOTATWETAA Player Kills Player Who Wasn't Aware Of Them And Thus Wasn't Engaging Them At All. There is no "versus" involved in being shot in the back of the head from someone 300m away you never knew existed. The story changes if you were in an airfield or something looking for a fight but killing bambi's and whatnot is just sad really. It's not winning it's being a loser if you can't take on people who can defend themselves you suck.

New map in the future?...whats the rumours?

I don't see what's bad about that to be honest it's not like everybody would stop playing the original map. I don't care if it's arcadey I'd love it if they made some kind of island where everyone just kills each other. Whenever I want to PVP right now I pretty much never find people unless it's at an airfield and getting sniped at isn't exciting nor is sitting around waiting to snipe. Plus that would take away some of the people who want to do that from the original map maybe it'd be less of a boring deathmatch since there's a genuine deathmatch for them. As well as a "hardcore" landscape with like no guns, somewhere in Britain would be cool we don't have all that many guns it's just like farmers, hunters and skeet shooters that have actual guns most others have air rifles. I'd love to have a map in a pseudo Scottish area it can be a pretty harsh terrain with all the hills, marshes etc and there's not many convenient apple trees etc to live off of you'd have to rely on hunting with bows, air rifles and traps. Or fishing. That'd be great fun instead of cities and towns small villages and cabins with not all that much loot. Of course currently you can just use a bow to hunt and not bother with guns...but just pretending you have to isn't nearly as fun as being forced to in order to survive. DLC would be great so long as there weren't any DLC exclusive items that would give people huge advantages back in Chernaus, like an epic gun of some sort. Perhaps when the PS4 version is out they'll be pushed to make content like that since it'll also be competing with H1Z1 on that system. Mods would be cool but I'd rather buy/download something from Bohemia themselves.

    what twitch fuels

If he's bending down to light camp fires he's hardly going to be an extremely dangerous threat. What sense is there to being so freaking hostile? Caution does the job, be ready to take your gun out at any time and don't fully trust people it's pretty easy. I don't get why people are so ridiculously frightened or say they are is if that makes KOS and being a douchebag legit. Stupid to kill people under the presumption they have stuff you need or might kill you for your stuff anyway. You know what they are? Extra storage. You probably can't carry all the goods they have so they're wasted not to mention most likely ruined if you shot them. Unless you're starving and they won't feed you it's a way better idea to befriend them, not only are they extra storage they're a lookout and half the time it takes you to search a building. Nobody who lives like people play DayZ would live very long in an apocalypse like this...

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Well in answer to that guys post the extra money Bohemia get from PS4 sales and X1 if they make that to will let them make far better games than DayZ which is pretty weak these days it's been in development so long that it's outdated. Hopefully all the money they get allows them to hire tons more people and make great games way faster.

    what twitch fuels

Which is completely different from hunting a deer because mostly you NEED to hunt a deer for food or whatever, the guy didn't need to kill that unsuspecting fool he done it to be a dick. I don't see the appeal to this kind of action at all. I'd rather shoot someone dead if they look like they'd open up on me and haven't noticed me but otherwise it's sad to just get people when they're back is turned and they're not being hostile, it's extremely cowardly. No different from sitting in the corner of a room waiting for people to walk in and blowing them away. Lame and unnecessary. But since they're tricking them I guess it's cool and intelligent huh  And people say playstyles like that have no influence from CoD games etc Yeah but why? It was a cowardly action, he obviously didn't need to kill them he done it for fun don't compare it to outsmarting an animal it's just not, making a snap decision to kill someone in a game doesn't make you a badass.
  19. Artificial difficulty refers to things being harder than they should be. It's "artificial" in that in real life it'd be easy to kill these zombies with an axe or any stabbing weapon, you could swing an axe and hit them right in the head with no problems or just let them run in to a pointed weapon but in DayZ they make it so you have to pathetically swing weapons from side to side hitting a static target. Yeah it's just awful. I downloaded Shadow Warrior yesterday which is a remake of an old action/FPS game similar to doom. It's melee blows DayZ out of the water and it's incredibly arcadey. I wonder if DayZ could have a melee system where you control what way weapons are swinged? Up down, left right, stab, heck even parry. That would be great, you could slash someone's leg with an axe or break it with a baseball bat so they can't walk etc. Not sure how it would work with a mouse though I guess holding the attack button which locks the camera then move the mouse in the desired swing direction. Really though if that's possible at all they should definitely try it. Imagine how epic it'd be having fire axe battles with people, being able to deflect their axe instead of you both just strafing and hoping the other guy gets to 0HP faster than you. Melee in this game needs way more attention guns are alright for now they just need optimized.

About base building and base raping.

Well, that depends on how much a base looks like a base if you can just use containers like cupboards in a house you could make it look like nobody lives there. Maybe the person just logged out in that house for refuge, log in maybe have a look around and then leave like any other building. Of course if there was boxes of stuff stacked around they'd know it was a base. I think there shouldn't be so much base "building" as there is "claiming" houses that were already built etc. Barricades etc, fence walls if they'll be a thing shit like that should be something it's only wise to make if you're in a group living somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I like the idea of base building but server hopping needs abolished somehow first. Someone can lock all their shit in a house then go off to other servers and collect more, their base on the other server is locked so nobody will get in with the right tools anyway. Bases will just be stupid safe zones for server hoppers. I guess the only option would be is for you to have 1 character per server so you can't take any loot from another server at all. Could get kind of annoying but once you found a trustworthy, functional server with a population you like it'd be decent.

    Emotions-Possible KOS Deterrent

I mean the message as "This guy gives me a strange feeling" not that bit on the end. It's still not definite they might have killed someone that looked threatening it'd be dumb not to shoot a fully geared guy with an AKM going door to door. Of course people would often just shoot them right away but it'd cut down the amount of people that do and gradually create a somewhat more friendly playerbase while also retaining the douchebags, it'd be lame if nobody was a killer but as near as makes no difference everyone is. So it's not necessarily an indication of who's bad but who's damaged from killing various amounts of people, or those who have helped people. As long as the messages were vague it'd be ok "this guy seems alright" "I feel like I shouldn't turn my back on him" That guy seems alright. He might still shoot you in the face after you make a trade though, he doesn't want the item he needs getting ruined after all. And as I said in that topic positive messages should be limited to one or two nothing like "this guy has max karma from giving bandages to people he won't shoot me" Even if people are doing positive actions to just be a dick to the next guy that comes along that still ups the amount of friendly, even if false interactions. Then maybe everyone wouldn't be so geared towards murdering everything.

Amount of vehicles / working vehicles

I meant it's silly to leave it so that it's only available to groups with the manpower to get every car it should only take hours to get broken ones going and by extension the most useful ones should be broken the most often, offroad vehicles trucks etc. Standard day to day civilian vehicles shouldn't be that hard to get up and running, for a fresh spawn having to go on a trek to get fuel if that's what it needs is still risky they'd have to be lucky to be near a station. Or to find the part the car needs, it should be possible but not always of course. It's not like having a car would automatically make you win anyway if it's a car where a clan are gathering vehicles if they see you driving round you're in for a struggle... Or an epic infiltration, wouldn't it be cool if you could hide in the boot with your gun ready, in the hopes that they go to their base before checking the boot. Of course if you're not fast enough they could just shoot you when they open the boot but it'd be great against an unprepared group. Hopefully we get options like that. Another thing that'd be great about being able to operate cars early on if you get lucky is using them as bait, leave it in the middle of the road perhaps with a few dead zombies around it to look authentic and hold up or kill whoever checks it out.
  23. UltimateGentleman

    Emotions-Possible KOS Deterrent

No if you read the topic that's not what I was talking about, all I want it to say is something along the lines of "This guy gives me a strange feeling" you know he's probably killed people, not necessarily going to kill you. Not "Quick kill him now!" But you can't observe in the game that's the problem you can't see what you would see in that world you hear a relaxed person talking to you normally, mostly. You don't see the tired and desperate individual they would be and if they don't have voice chat you can't tell anything at all you get an extremely basic way to tell if they're going to attack you and only if they're idiots and let it slip. And I know what you mean I'm pretty much a sociopath but that doesn't mean psycho or sociopaths would completely hold it together when they're day to day surviving they wouldn't be relaxed when they've been attacked by zombies, been shot at, been cutting up people and whatever else. If someone was like that in the DayZ world their switch would be flipped you would see and hear that they're on edge. The people playing this game generally I hope aren't actual psychopaths they're just being loltastic badasses they don't expertly hide their intentions due to a life of hiding who they are they can talk to you normally then switch their voice chat off for a few seconds to laugh at you and discuss with their bro's how they should mess with you. It doesn't work like how it would in real life so voice chat alone is a very poor way to determine what people are. So gut feeling makes up for what the game lacks in emotional and physical characteristics that the people definitely would have but don't because they're at home in real life.
  24. UltimateGentleman

    Emotions-Possible KOS Deterrent

Oh yeah no, I agree with that for sure some kind of depression and/or "stress" would be great but it shouldn't negatively impact you from killing players. Being attacked constantly, near death, starving etc should have you fairly messed up no matter your level of sanity, it'd be great if we got the shakes from all that trauma. As if it's so easy as that those 3 questions aren't good enough to decide if you should kill someone on sight they could be anyone just because they run up to you doesn't mean they're going to attack you, they probably will but not always they could be new or actually nice. That's not what the gut feeling I mean describes, just because the dude "seems a little off" doesn't mean he is going to attack you it means be on guard. If people look at it so black and white as he's a bad guy kill him, they're idiots. And it'd be pretty blatant whether or not someone is crazy in a world like this you don't get time to prepare lies you're not sitting at home on a couch all comfortable you'd be on edge, hungry, shaky. You CAN'T use your own observation in the game because it lacks the detail the person would have in that situation. Nobody would stroll up to you in a suit looking all normal with a suave accent and then gut you it'd be blatantly obvious they were nuts. Stop acting like people in the game act like people would in an apocalyptic survival situation, they're at home eating Cheetos and drinking Mountain Dew playing a game, it's not hard to lie at all they're not under any pressure to fight for their lives.
  25. UltimateGentleman

About base building and base raping.

There's a huge problem with that system though. Say your base is in Berenzino(only name I know) in the police station for instance. Someone goes there on another server, to get loot then hop to another server, the standard. They come to your server and suddenly they're spawned outside the radius somewhere. At that point they know a base was at the police station so they can come right over and kill you. I think there are enough places in the game for it to be possible to stay safe almost forever you just need to be smart don't make a base in the city make one in the middle of nowhere, people will still probably spawn in your base at some point but if you pick a good spot it's going to be a rare event. The only thing that could work is if they spawn outside this radius when you're playing and you get warned they're there, I guess. Otherwise they just spawn in your base and hopefully can't get locked containers open. And I wonder if they could make a system where if you find a base and wait for the unsuspecting fool to spawn in you get "kicked" out the base so they have time to prepare. Of course these things make no sense that's not happening in real life but nor does spawning and it's unfair to be able to just wait for someone to magically appear in their home and take them out. Another thing that could potentially works is form up a radius when the players doors are locked, other players can still get in but with the right tools only.
