It also works with rags and sticks not just bandages :P I don't think there should be an insta-fix but rather a temporary insta-fix, so like an adrenaline shot + splint/morphine could have your leg on the mend and the adrenaline could make your character run through the pain(which could also slow down the healing process) That would be cool for if you're limping away and bandits show up, stab an adrenaline shot in and escape or have to hide and sneak past them slowly to avoid the longer healing time.

Could they really add that much variety to the animations? That would take a lot of work, it's doubtful they would do that indicators are an easy option. The way I mean it is like what comes up on the screen for "open door" or whatever rather than your friends having their name floating above them. So you need direct line of sight and to aim at them to see if it's your friend. Most people meeting up use phones or whatever in real life, Skype even to say "I'm the guy running down the road don't shoot" but in a heated moment they can't really communicate so well and can end up shooting each other, which wouldn't happen in real life because one look and you know that's your friend. Can't see how it helps KoS at all only for the occasional accidental shooting of a friend that might happen now, it wouldn't make KoS worse or better...

M4 and AKM respawn only in site crash
UltimateGentleman replied to dimitryrock6's topic in Suggestions
As long as there are like 4 or 5 crash sites I think it's great, I don't like to spam the M4 but I still want one now and again so it will suck if there's just always a bandit clan camping around the spawn. However it could make for some fun gameplay since flares are in experimental and light up a large area even in day, so you could drop one of them nearby and flank round while some of them go to investigate. Still though it could get annoying with bandits dominating the map once they've server hopped and got all M4's. -
Yeah customizable clothes is the way to go, if everyone has the same face mask on you can't tell them apart but your friend might have a rip in his jeans, some guy shows up wearing the same stuff without a rip, that's not your friend rip them apart! I can recognize my friends and family from their stature and how they walk, everyone in DayZ is exactly the same height and walks exactly the same so it is really stupid that you can't identify people. Maybe instead of something floating above them, if you aim at them it could say "Player X" if they're in your friend/clan list so that your character recognizes them. After a certain distance it stops working though but works with scopes and stuff to a further distance. That or being able to paint your own symbols on clothing would be fine, give us different coloured spraypaint and let us make our own clan tags in game that would be epic. An indicator isn't "unrealistic" it's just a representation of what you could gather in real life, you know what your friends look like you don't confuse them with people wearing the same shirt because your friend might be a fatass or skinny, there's too much detail in real life for you not to know, in most cases.

Because we don't anyway with bandits? I'm not sure why you think everyone would just do it all the time, it's quicker to just run to a town and meet up with friends since you might spawn further away. I think this would be a great option I remember one time I was food poisoned and starving and I was running for like half an hour trying to find one of those barns and kill myself because it was so obviously hopeless. If people in a DayZ situation where starving to death or had broken limbs they probably would just kill themselves so it's a good option. Maybe if you suicide that way then it could have a longer timer than a regular respawn? You shouldn't be rewarded for giving up by only having to wait 30 seconds, 180 at least.

Yeah a stick + bandage equals a splint if you don't know that OP. Which is an insta-fix...I don't know if they plan on keeping it that way but I hope not, same with morphine I hope they stop you from running but let you walk, hobble so you have to make your character survive for like 5 hours maybe before they can walk decently again, then maybe another 5 to be fully healed because lets be real a realistic healing time would suck so bad, as we do now you might as well just kill yourself.

So the Blaze and the shotgun are pretty crap unless you fill your inventory with snaploaders, which takes a looot of space for two shots a piece when one slot holds 15 shells or 20 rounds. So what if you could just flick the mouse wheel after firing your two shots and have options like "Load bullets from front left pocket" Then an animation plays for your character finding them and reloading them. Because having to stop and open the menu is kind of dumb, fairly slow and leaves you wide open. Anyone with an M4 who's only fired a couple of shots can just chase you and give you very little chance to reload. Not that you have to stop to do it of course you can still move with the menu open but a real person has no menu cluttering their vision. Snaploaders should of course be faster but they're extremely inefficient so I don't think they should be the only quick reload method. So I think it would be cool if you could load weapons like these this way so that they'd be more viable as primary weapons and not just side weapons until you find an SKS, M4 or Mosin. I mean you see it all the time in movies people use their shotgun then just casually take bullets out a shirt pocket and reload it they don't take forever to find as they're put in a specific place. It could also make you make mistakes in the heat of the moment and pick the wrong pocket which would add some tension to gunfights. Also adds a bit of realism because you'd need your ammo at the ready in pockets, currently there's no animation for pulling your backpack round and actually taking ammo out it's just click and drag To be honest I think snaploaders for the Blaze and shotgun should just be removed anyway since to have 8 shots for quick reload takes up 4 inventory slots where an M4 can have taped Stanag mags for 60 rounds in two slots. Having both options is fine though so long as snaploaders are significantly faster thus still useful. What do you think? With M4's and such being rarer now other weapons should be made more viable, this is one way to do just that. TL;DR we should be able to use the mouse wheel to select bullets from specific pockets for the Blaze and shotgun instead of having to fill our inventory with snaploaders that take up as much space as a whole bunch of rounds, making the Blaze and shotgun more viable weapons.

Reloading certain guns from pockets
UltimateGentleman replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in Suggestions
So nobody else likes the idea? Snaploaders being fast doesn't make much sense really, they'd still have to be easily accessible, there's no animation for taking them out the backpack they just appear which obviously in reality isn't the case. So we could have our characters dig in to their pockets and pull out a few shells or a snaploader, instead of it magically appearing when it was somewhere inaccessible in a fight. Another option I guess could be having craftable snaploaders because they're pretty rare, in comparison to 30 round mags and whatever else, right now they're only useful because of their unrealistic game function. -
Not a whining topic, actual discussion. So let's come up with possible solutions. Firstly, a message saying who you were killed by is something that would help, so that if you go in to Berenzino and get killed by the same guy over and over despite looking at every rooftop, obviously some bullshit is going down. So then I think a flag or kick feature could be added to the game, many people flag a player they get kicked. Though it would no doubt be abused by clans I still think it would be better than people getting away with hacking, if you get kicked for no reason so what you still have your stuff just join another server. Or rather than that have active admins with their own slot in a server so that once a person is flagged they can go investigate(make them invincible or something but can't kill players) and if a person genuinely is hacking in to walls or whatever, kick. I'm sure they'd instantly be shot at to the point where it would be made obvious the person has infinite ammo too. Obviously it's an alpha right now and a lot of things will be fixed in future but no game is without it's cheaters so even when it's finished people will probably still find a way. "Alpha" is no magical bandaid that means it will be impossible to hack in future, so lets keep the whining to a minimal and think of some possible solutions. So what realistically implementable solutions have you thought of?

Reloading certain guns from pockets
UltimateGentleman replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in Suggestions
That works too but I still don't really see the point in snaploaders, they don't make a lot of sense other than with the magnum. In real life it would take no time to take a couple of shells your your pocket and bang them in a double barrel, a snaploader may even take longer to get in properly. But yeah stackable snaploaders is decent but they're somewhat rare so it's not perfect, so I think the combo of both could work just without them it takes a couple of seconds to reload but you can still run around effectively while doing so. That and being able to put bullets in those holster things you get on the side of guns would work well I think, heck maybe even a bullet belt, that could be like the ultimate gear item for these weapons. -

I experienced this in Berenzino too, I found a pristine can opener floating outside a building. It was awesome, great find for a fresh spawn. It was on the outside part of a building, it seemed like it was the loot that was supposed to be below where I was standing in rooms. Wonder what causes that? -

First animal kill  Killed it with 1 shot from a Blaze, which was scary only had two rounds. So you can't get anything from them with an axe or a hacksaw sadly, I tried just hitting it thought maybe you could hack them up for damaged meat maybe, that would be cool I think. Not sure what they're going to do with the AI but for now they literally just run directly away from you so you can steer them wherever you want. Hopefully we'll be able to make livestock farms in future, of some sort anyway. It was awesome just seeing the thing wandering around in front of me made the game feel somehow very different. Can't wait for more animals, especially wolves it would be awesome if we could make a wolf skin jacket just so you could walk around looking badass. Got some firewood too but no idea what to do with it. Guess I'll need matches and rocks? Quite impressed with it anyway, thought it would be really glitchy but the frame rate of the tree falling seems fine it's just a bit too easy to cut them down but whatever it's placeholder. Hopefully nobody will kill me before I test out campfires >.> Met a few people that didn't attack me, but probably only because I had weapons. Felt charitable, gave a random dude a bandage after saving him from a zombie. Nobody responded to me in chat, in fact nobody ever has... I don't get why people can't just say "Hey" or something it takes two seconds. I like that you can run faster with a gun now but...that just means it will be even harder to escape bandits...not sure why they would change that now. -

Still though it's annoying how not everyone can band together like that, I was walking around saying in chat that I'm not there to kill people they could have at least had a second thought about it but they were clearly just camping up the stairs. Yeah I was stuck in one place for like 2 minutes... Kept teleporting back but then at one point I went back in to the building I was next to, so it was like that's where I was actually stuck but it kept putting me outside the building then it fixed. It wasn't as bad as some people make it sound though. I'm going back on now if there's any spaces :P Hopefully some of the servers will have just restarted. Where are these crashed heli's also? -

I played for like half an hour(got killed so quitting to have dinner) Noticed new animations and a higher run speed for when you have a gun out, awesome. Before you were like a snail. Does experimental just always turn in to a deathmatch? Guy killed me at the NE Airfield, I was just trying to explore and find new stuff dammit -_- Also had the reticule pointed at him and fired a whole 10 SKS rounds not one hit so yeah hopefully this hits stable on Wednesday the rubberbanding and lag is awful  I found the new pistol, fired a shot(I found 3 9mm rounds in some random shrine thing) Seems decent. I think I heard someone shooting an AKM too, it wasn't an M4 anyway unless the sound has been completely changed. Hopefully they will add a lot more experimental servers in future it seemed like everything good had already been looted in that one. Berry finding is ok I guess, a little slow though shouldn't take that long to pick just one berry. I think they should make berries show on bushes but on others they don't so you have to search a while and possibly find something poisonous. Didn't find any animals, didn't really look though but at least they're not everywhere. -

So how common are animals? I'm going to try experimental in a while(first time) but who knows if there'll be any space... Hopefully this will hit stable on Wednesday this sounds like enough to make me interested again :D -
Experimental brings us hunting, do you want to know what this means?
UltimateGentleman replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I don't understand how cans of food would be all that rare really, clearly any kind of evacuation in this place failed hence all the dead people running around. Unless you just don't stock well look in your cupboards, how many cans of food are there? I guarantee there won't be just one most people have at least 10 and then say there's 60 houses in a town, 600 cans of food so I don't see why there should only be a couple it's unreasonable that everyone would have been able to pack everything in the panic. This is one of the "realistic" aspects of the game...that isn't really. I'm not saying that there should be tons of cans in each house as that would be too easy but toning it down to like 3 per town is ridiculous, especially since 64 bit servers are coming which means a lot more time before a server is reset, every town would just be looted for those 3 cans by like the 3 hour mark. -
I guess it's just good luck on their part as they managed to spawn where you were. Berenzino is quite the hot zone usually, as are any towns with police stations everyone who knows where they are will attempt to go there first to get equipped but then people camp nearby in order to...well, I'm sure you can guess what they do :P Best thing you can do is go on "friendly" servers, maybe you'll get shot at a bit less. BUT NOTE These " ", so called friendly servers aren't exactly friendly people will still likely shoot at you for no good reason but perhaps less.

...I really don't see the problem here. It's just the placeholder sniper, it can obviously be changed why should they change it now? Once they add another sniper in then it makes sense to change it but until then why does it matter? As is almost always the excuse, it's an alpha. They've just chucked in basic weapons so we can actually play the game until they build up to all the other weapons and features. If it's unrealistic or whatever in the final release then you can complain all you want. Currently I don't want to have to spend hours finding a rail or whatever to make my Mosin functional when an M4 or SKS is much easier to find and is way more likely to be what people shoot at me with. at this point in the development it would be silly to make it so complicated to use when it's not all that good compared to the SKS, M4 and probably the AKM too. It is only good for long range and I don't want to waste my rifle slot for that when the only close range weapons I've found are melee.

How to Get out of the Floor of the Green, Slanted House
UltimateGentleman replied to Loopest's topic in General Discussion
Anyone got stuck in the crashed ship before? I logged out on it one day then I was in the freaking bottom of it... Eventually just kind of popped out but I think it was luck had like a 50cm square to move around in. It was damn scary. By green slanted house does this mean the ones with the red interior? Usually have medical supplies as you go in the door. I shall have to watch out for that one as I go in them often. -
What if tents relocated when you died? So you can still find your stuff but it's going to be a rare event, you'll have to survive all over again with food and weapons and go on a hunt to find your gear. Also makes it more likely that someone will find it and take your stuff so it's not ideal but still a way to get stuff.

I think I'll always come back to DayZ now and again, there's just something about it. But I think other games like H1Z1 are going to take over, bigger development teams with bigger budgets are going to grab the general idea and do it both better and faster. Hopefully someone will hire the DayZ team when it's done then they can make a better game on a better engine, I'm sure they still have plenty of ideas but can't put them on this engine.

You are Dead at the N W A F Fire station tower
UltimateGentleman replied to Boxer23's topic in General Discussion
Yeah but in the game you hear things after you die, pretty sure like every bullet in the game goes faster than the speed of sound anyway yet you hear them when you get killed. -
Well they couldn't really abuse it if they couldn't chat to each other and zombies still aren't that hard to kill and certainly should be no more powerful than an NPC zombie. A clan would have a very hard time organizing a stampede. I think it would be great fun, instead of laying down and rolling around zombie players could do the dying animation. So if a player shoots at them from a distance but misses, play dead then slowly sneak towards them again. It could be very funny. Especially if some douche kills you, get your own back.

Are zombies still exactly the same?
UltimateGentleman replied to NaZz1's topic in General Discussion
They're actually worse now. Now they take many non headshots to go down with melee, can still run through walls AND can go up stairs. Omnipotent zombies ftw.
