I don't see why not, to me wearing a bears emptied head on your own head would be the "accomplished survivor" look which is way more appealing to me than the "guy who just shoots people all the time" look, you know it, hunting backpack, ballistic helm, high cap vest or the assault vest, AKM or M4. It's the look I'd want to get since hunting intersts me more than any PVP, although I hope bears and wolves become worthy foes. I don't want to be military badass man I want to be grizzly survivor man who kills grizzlies with axes! (I will not stop until I manage that if bears get added) If a bear challenged you and you won why the hell wouldn't you wear it's skin?

Fairly simple idea. With the new addition of shoe damage and comfort, we need different types of socks, shitty sports ones, nice warm wooly ones, holey ones, etc I don't think shoes should get to ruined statusby running unless you do something crazy with them like slide down a rocky hill, they should get to damaged and start hurting your feet so some thick socks should soothe that. They could also be used as water filters, pristine socks of course plus maybe you could disinfect them. It'd be dumb if water purification tabs were the only way to have clean water and I doubt they will be in the end but socks as filters would be great. Perhaps they could even be used as mittens if you have no gloves.
-
It can be excessively difficult but socks wouldn't add to that unless you were running through puddles and mud getting them wrecked. It's not like they'd have to wear out in 20 minutes or anything and you start with a pair so what's the issue? Excessively difficult when it comes to footwear would be adding a randomized shoe size and not letting you were the wrong size. They'd also be good but they're less realistically essential compared to socks I think it'd be weird to have them and blistered/bleeding feet because socks don't exist :P
-
You haven't used those because they have no use, yet. They will become important at some point if you need medicine to cure a disease you'll need a syringe for instance. At no point did I say they should be absolutely essential, if you start with shoes, jeans, a flashlight and battery and a t-shirt...you start with socks too, and they'd be good for a good few hours of running around. Not perfect but decent. Why would you start with ruined socks and instantly need a new pair? In those hours you'd most definitely find a few spare sets or better pairs. You'd only really need new ones when you got new shoes, namely boots as just putting any magically fitting pair of boots and running around would be sore on your feat. Otherwise they're just good for a little extra warmth or for their other uses like water filters. They wouldn't be a necessity unless you had none which unless you throw away your first set or don't repair them shouldn't be an issue. They're infinitely more useful than gloves are so why have those instead? If anything when it comes to gunplay they should be making life more difficult, as well as any other task requiring intricate control and precision.

There are blood types, blood testing kits, syringes and thier upcoming uses in the game. It's already fairly intricate what's wrong with socks? They could clog up loot spawns and no doubt they would while the game is developed but I'm pretty sure the loot system will function properly at some point. There are tons of uses for them that would help people survive and none of them are overpowered. It's kind of dumb to just have duct tape repair shoes when after running 40k every day in hiking boots your boots would probably be filled with blood and you'd be dead, assuming you could even run that long through all that pain. So long as they came with their many uses, they'd be a great misc item to have. I see no problem with adding a useful item when there are so many useless items. Perhaps a pair could even be fashioned in to rags so as fresh spawns we don't have to run around bleeding for 10 minutes after zombies make us bleed more than a few times just hoping to find a first aid kit or t-shirt, even though you have a vest and pants on always.

I say no, not just because I enjoy all this pristine gear but everyone with it will get so so comfortable and then when the game or players finally kill them they'll see how harsh the game has become outside of KOS'ing defenceless randoms, mwahahaha. I like killing myself when an update is added to test out new things but...I appreciate the option it'd be annoying if they just wiped it all the time. Sure the game isn't complete yet but you could still have enjoyed many hours actually surviving and getting in to tense situations for that to be thrown away. At best your character should be wiped if you're not active for a month or so.
-
Well they are like the most useless food you could probably eat all of those and not be energized :P I'm guessing that's why they used tomatos first just to get the system running otherwise it'd be 104 of the infinitely more useful zucchini's or potatoes. I do wonder what they'd do with that though...how fast is stuff going to go? Realistically it'd take months but that would be bullshit. Days? Days for like 8 tomatoes or whatever, similarly bullshit as they wouldn't last you very long. I guess maybe like an in game day or two depending on how long they make them if it's say 5 hours that should be alright, I guess. Still a lot of time to sit around.

Tired of spawning at the coast
UltimateGentleman replied to StayAlive (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Not really though it would be deathmatch at it's finest. There needs to be dangerous people, and there need to be rational people. On the coast you have basically no chance of encountering someone friendly and that's fine because elsewhere you know people might just not shoot you instantly or the first chance they get. I doubt anyone but people who are already friends would join forces when crazy bandit type people were around every corner, too risky. It's a huge risk now even. All people spawning all over the map would achieve is forcing people to lone wolf it, the game is already way too focused on that nothing about the game at all makes people inclined to work together when they really should. Plus it gives groups of people a target, if they want some PVP they can go be heroes or whatever for noobs on the coast instead of just aimlessly wandering hoping to find a challenge. No matter where people spawn they're still going to head to the same locations be it the coast or the nearest airfield/military base eventually. -
I think it would be great for clans really nobody can get to it without being noticed so as long as someone is on watch all the time it'd be very safe...until the clan had to go eat dinner or sleep and everyone raided the base... For a sizeable clan where someone is always going to be online it'd be good. Or if you could dig a hole and hide all your good shit in it before leaving. All those would be great, I'd love to see a building system similar to The Forest so we could make some traps to catch rabbits, fortify a garden or something with wood and leave them there to breed like...well, rabbits. Of course any kind of breeding would have to be accelerated to a silly degree but there's no way 50 people would kill every animal in an area the size of Chernaus in a matter of days so breeding should be a thing although I can see them having an offscreen spawning thing to pretend that they bred.
-
I think most of these suggestions are planned anyway, not sure about trakcs or blood trails though it might be a bit too taxing on the engine and servers to have every animal making tracks constantly. I'd like to see animals adapting to the landscape in the cold, going in barns and things for shelter since they mostly don't have to fear humans. Blood loss/eventual death needs to happen they shouldn't have a health system where it's like 3 shots to kill them, 1 shot to the heart area like you said should have them falling down in a couple of minutes or less, shots elsewhere a lot longer. Limping would also be cool. Not strictly hunting related but imagine you could shoot pigs in the legs maybe with a .22 so they limp then catch them, take them to your base somehow and breed them after fixing them up. That would be awesome. Screw your militaristic killing each other bullshit I want to be a farmer :P

Tired of spawning at the coast
UltimateGentleman replied to StayAlive (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Nah I like the coastal spawns I think they should stay that way, it's fun to just go a little crazy and run through Berenzino on a high pop server, seeing how long you can dodge KOSer's or if you can take any out with your fists. Or just fight random people. It also gives them a place to congregate insted of infecting the whole map, if you want to play the game and survive, go inland, if you want to play the game and just fight constantly, stay on the coast. Also if the people who play the game like that are only spawning near places like Berenzino they'll thankfully just stay there. Plus as said spawning further inland just makes you get closer to military bases and such, it'd be extremely unfair for someone to spawn right next to one and get looted up in seconds. It can be annoying getting a shit coastal spawn but there aren't many where you couldn't survive if you head inland. I think the only adjustments needed for spawning are how big an area you spawn in, multiple times I've spawned in right next to someone having clearly spawned in seconds before or after. How would it? Coast spawns give them a place to fight. The mentality is already there just because people wouldn't spawn in Berenzino so much doesn't mean they wouldn't go there since it's a very loot heavy town. All it would do is spread KOS all over the map instead of a few key areas which would be annoying. People who want to play the game like a survivor rather than someone playing the game can go away from the SWAG zones and make bases or explore cool places. -
I would rather they make another map, like an African kind of area that would be cool, intense heat, dangerous animals, zombies, water in scarce supply. I think the map we have of Chernaus is big enough...they just need to stop adding towns if you run along any road for 10 minutes you end up somewhere to get food provided it's not been raided, would be better if hunting animals was a necessity.

The future mod of Dayz SA that will become the new SA
UltimateGentleman replied to svisketyggeren's topic in General Discussion
Fuck yes! Ghouls, Super Mutants, Centaurs, Chinese Officer swords, Plasma/Laser rifles in scarce supply, fucking Fat Man's and mini nukes plus some destruction. Someone better make something like that. Even if it was just single player. -
It'd still be fun to try though especially when we get traps imagine having to defend your base against a clan? Even if you failed it'd still be an epic experience to take them on and if you won, all that loot to run away with and bragging rights! With persistence leave a few notes around detailing their noobish skills, for when they inevitably come back in force. It's not something you could sustain forever on one server but it'd be fun to try or at least I think so. I made a topic of my first visit to it in the gallery a few months or so ago. When/if boats and heli's are added though it'll probably be the number one base location, so it would be fun until then. I hope they make it so it's only survivable for one person, two at best. Then clans have to leave for food instead of being set for life.
-
I would love it if there was just enough there for you to survive by yourself, until someone came over... Couple of greenhouses, river for fish and a few animals(hopefully breedable) It'd be a lot of fun to make a base there and try to survive as long as you can.
-
What slow bastards lol they deserved that completely. Never put your weapon away when someone has one on their back...

Would be cool if you could wring out your wet clothes and drink the water. It's not going to be tasty for sure, probably all salty and sweaty but if you were in desperate need it'd be dumb to not do something like that, were no cups etc available. If people will drink their piss in an attempt to survive things like that would be a great option, at least suffering the rain would bring you some solace once you got shelter and were dying of thirst. It'd also be cool if with barrels you could stretch some kind of fabric over them, to act as a filter reducing the need for water purification tablets but not completely. Those things will probably be like gold soon enough, I'd also imagine that with large bodies of water we should have to use multiple tablets so having your own water supply at a base would be very costly. If they add plastic sheets in, for makeshift raincoats and covering backpacks for instance one of those could be used like a funnel too. Or some tarp.
-
Well they could offer alpha versions of mods as demo's to see if people like the idea I guess. DayZ can get fairly boring I don't doubt DLC mods with cool content would be very popular, I doubt H1Z1 will have them so that's one thing DayZ could one up them with. H1Z1 looks better, is free to play, looks more difficult and has building. Does it have dinosaurs or survival islands? No. Considering how unoriginal most AAA developers are it'd be good to let the modding community have a go at consoles and add some refreshing, fun content.

I know it's not actually a child but with the title of "family" it's like an actual family with a kid :P

Dinosaurs! That Arma III mod looks awesome. Dinosaurs and zombies, and zombie dinosaurs. Imagine being chased by a horde of zombies and then a T-Rex shows up, zombies being hungry uncaring fuckers ignore you and engage in an epic battle with the Rex. Velociraptors stalking people and animals too, a lot more animals generally, tree climbing so you can actually survive outside of buildings. More heavy duty weaponry and ammo but in dangerous places in the wilderness, otherwise standard weaponry, barely enough to fight against dino's. I wish Dinosaurs were in more games there's a fantastic game just sitting there but nobody except mod makers really even try since Turok fucked up. -
I think we only really need the option to have a big bucket or drum full of water at our bases or wherever. Catching rainwater in a canteen is slow and annoying, but it should be anyway in fact it's a little overpowered really especially since it rains so much currently. It'd be dumb to build you base near a well or to have to run to a well for miles every time you need water, same with ponds people could just search them all. Being able to roll or drag a barrel home would be ideal, it's still going to take ages to build up a good supply but survivable enough in wet seasons.

I freaking love how it looks like there's a smaller, child one

Game would be fun if they had a smaller boundry
UltimateGentleman replied to Frost20's topic in Suggestions
What do you mean turn it in to, it already is :P I hope a lot of things like that are made so that not every player is dangerous but you still have some danger, currently there's not much value in even attempting to make contact with people, especially not if they have guns. It'd be good if a lot of deathmatch participants migrated elsewhere but not completely. -

I would love it, as an option in the full release. Sometimes I feel like PVP but other times would rather avoid and pretend it's a survival game not Call of Duty: Mega Camper Edition. Would be better if there was just some kind of island made for it though. Perhaps something like that movie/movies where criminals get put on an island and forced to kill each other for their freedom, that would be awesome especially if you started with nothing and food etc was air dropped in for everyone to see. For the game to stay fresh I think things like that should definitely be considered, it would take CoD attention away from the main game since they can go kill everyone in their own area leaving people who kill for legit reasons or actually think about it beyond "let's kill everyone l0l" -
So when you overheat you need to take off some clothes to cool down but at any moment a server could just crash and it's hard to figure out what server you were on half the time since the list doesn't show what you were on last. Not to mention it's fairly inconvenient just having to sit there half naked staring at your gear until you're cold Meaning while trying to cool down you could lose a lot or even all of your gear. So how about being able to take your jacket off and hold it, put it over your shoulder or tie it round your waist? It's something I do all the time in real life, with hoodies mostly it's easy to tie it around and have your front pockets be at your hips. That would be great especially it'd be like having your clothes on heat and cool down modes essentially, without having to throw them on the ground or have them take up a silly amount of backpack space you might need. I realize they probably couldn't realistically flap around but it beats holding them like some static disc shaped item. And that wrapping your trousers round your waist doesn't work but just your jacket should be enough anyway, until it's summer maybe we'll need shorts to stay cool I don't know. I see no reason why it shouldn't be available in some form, who chucks their nice coat in the mud when they're too hot? Thoughts?
