What would be a realistic level of stamina/run time?

Why can women run less a distance than men? ... 5 minutes seems reasonable, but I'm not sure about with gear a 2 minute run time would suck escaping zombies would be a nightmare but to lower it by only a minute when you have a huge backpack full of stuff would also be stupid...

What would be a realistic level of stamina/run time?

To me it seems more like the zombies just get bored :P But yeah having them run in your general area is something I hope they do, it's so annoying in games where when one enemy sees you they all know exactly where you are all the time... I hope they don't make it so you just get hungry/thirsty from running, kinda dumb like if you run for 4 hours you can't fit more stuff in your stomach so in future I hope the incorporate a "rest" system where you sit down and recover, preferably on a seat or bed(boost to rest recovery) Should make you get thirsty quicker though.

Should walkie talkies have text chat?

Why should we be forced to buy mics? I don't want to actually converse with strangers I'm autistic, text chat would be great with these.

    DayZ is to Clean

Does it need that much? Considering the zombies are the former residents there shouldn't be that many dead people around most would get turned. What I'd like to see in the way of gore is a few carcasses around and maybe some dead NPC's that committed suicide in a bed or maybe hanged themselves to escape the horror. There doesn't need to be blood everywhere just because it's an apocalypse doesn't mean the landscape would change all that much, over time it would get overgrown not get dreary and horrible. It would actually look more beautiful after a time so I'm not sure why people want this dull, dreary looking landscape covered with death from top to bottom when not many people died.

    Meat/food sack/container

I think they should add some kind of sack for us to keep meat/food in since it doesn't take up all the space in your backpack, it sounds like you get a lot from each animal, more than you really need so it fills up your slots or goes to waste which is a shame. I don't think it would be so unreasonable to have both a backpack and a sack, maybe it could take up your melee weapon slot so you have to fit a fire axe or whatever in your backpack? Or a better way to keep balance could be that it requires some kind of clip that goes on your backpack, which are hard to find so not everyone can have this extra storage space. Another thing which would be awesome, not sure if possible would be when cars are in and working have a trailer and the ability for two players to carry a fridge and put it in then take it to a base, fix up some kind of generator too. That would be freaking ideal but if not possible just an extra sack would do, maybe it could slow your runs speed or something so there's an element of risk to it and if you're putting a lot of meat in it you should have to clean it often or food gets infected, another use for disinfectant perhaps.

    Death timer

Hey, I'm not the one getting his ass kicked by bambi's. Maybe you should man up instead of whining and asking them to make the game easier for you :P

    Death timer

And you do this when people can lay on the floor of a building and look out the window in third person, how? Or if they're on rooftops, if you can see them with the naked eye zoom it's a miracle that they haven't shot you already. There are far too many places to hide to make "scouting" any kind of a solution when you have no scope or anything like that. More like assholes shouldn't camp and kill everyone because it's not a war game, why should they be rewarded for being dickbags? People too chicken to go to an airfield and fight people who can shoot back shouldn't be able to sit and keep a whole city to themselves.

    Death timer

Damn well is harsh because what if you get killed by some asshole camping in a building when you're just trying to survive? You act like every Bambi is a crazy person and that not almost everyone else is a douchebag. I don't see why bandits should be rewarded for being assholes and killing everyone then having a territory to themselves, that's not what the game is supposed to be about. If anything being able to run back and mess with your attackers is a good thing because maybe they'll think twice next time, they deserve to be attacked for killing you for no reason. I think if anything a death timer should be that long depending on what weapons you and the other guy had, if you had an M4, pistol and fire axe and they had a frying pan then they should get like a 2 minute death timer, because you're the douche killing someone who can barely defend themselves. People who have equal weapons get a 5-10 minute death timer. People who had loads of weapons but still got killed by dude with frying pan, 10 minute death timer for both sucking and possibly being a bandit who got his just desserts.

Since when do zombies die from one shot to the leg?

Not accurate in relation to real life though. A zombie right in front of you hitting you you can't point your gun at the barrel would be going past them, guns be long. Headshots are only viable with a mouse when they're running at you from some distance away otherwise aiming is way too clumsy. There's no other way to make it difficult than making it unreasonably harsh like getting diseases near constantly and that would just suck no place is that dangerous, zombies are the only real way to make it dangerous so more types do that instead of making them ridiculous nigh invincible monsters when they are just people. I mean super as in like been tested on, like Patient Zero in whatever mod it is not like supernaturally super, Riot Gear zombies with functional armour could also work as super zombies, shooting them would do jack.

Since when do zombies die from one shot to the leg?

Why not? I suggested this a while back, it would be cool if some crazy zombie spawned in every half our or so and everyone had to fight it or be hunted down one by one. Would encourage some co-operation. I don't think they should EVER make zombies only killable by headshots, they move too fast and aiming with a mouse is nothing like real life. In real life I could shove the barrel of my gun right in their face and blow their head open but with mouse aiming you're just swinging the gun around until it's pointing at something. If you could actually push zombies back and stun them a little, then maybe but zombies like they are now should not be headshot only. Shoot it in the spine and it's not walking after you, why should headshot only count?

    Fog Inbound for DayZ? [Reddit]

I don't think they should add snow because it definitely should stay with such a cold area, they should just add in ice and frost effects. That would be cool, ponds freeze over limiting your water supply. If they add fog I wonder if they could work in smoke grenades?
  12. UltimateGentleman

    Fog Inbound for DayZ? [Reddit]

I like it but I hope they only add it when it will work properly. By that I mean they should only add it when zombies can't still see you from like 300m away in it because that would suuuuuck. Also I hope it gets thicker than that from time to time, that would be fun and scary.

    FRIEND/FOE IDENTIFCATION

I like the memorizing thing but it assumes you get close enough to memorize their face, if it's someone wearing the standard set or brown/green and a hunting backpack as like 50% of the people I find do, who looks exactly like your friend then the logical thing to do is walk over all friendly. Then get shot because it's not actually your friend, they're not going to let you have a good look at them. Especially if that was a feature in the game. A textline is basically what I mean over floating indicator, perhaps you could memorize someone's outfit and/or face and then when you look at them for a couple of seconds it says who it is in the bottom left corner, at reasonable distances. It would be great for snipers covering their buddies while they go search for loot or whatever because if people steps out wearing virtually the same clothes currently the sniper becomes useless because they have no way to differentiate between them. So it could come up saying "That's Tom" when you look at your friend Tom. And then if you memorize someone's set if you look at them again at a distance it could say "I think that's Tom but I'm not sure" so there's still some guesswork in it if things change.

Idea for new way to fix broken leg

It also works with rags and sticks not just bandages :P I don't think there should be an insta-fix but rather a temporary insta-fix, so like an adrenaline shot + splint/morphine could have your leg on the mend and the adrenaline could make your character run through the pain(which could also slow down the healing process) That would be cool for if you're limping away and bandits show up, stab an adrenaline shot in and escape or have to hide and sneak past them slowly to avoid the longer healing time.

    FRIEND/FOE IDENTIFCATION

Could they really add that much variety to the animations? That would take a lot of work, it's doubtful they would do that indicators are an easy option. The way I mean it is like what comes up on the screen for "open door" or whatever rather than your friends having their name floating above them. So you need direct line of sight and to aim at them to see if it's your friend. Most people meeting up use phones or whatever in real life, Skype even to say "I'm the guy running down the road don't shoot" but in a heated moment they can't really communicate so well and can end up shooting each other, which wouldn't happen in real life because one look and you know that's your friend. Can't see how it helps KoS at all only for the occasional accidental shooting of a friend that might happen now, it wouldn't make KoS worse or better...

M4 and AKM respawn only in site crash

As long as there are like 4 or 5 crash sites I think it's great, I don't like to spam the M4 but I still want one now and again so it will suck if there's just always a bandit clan camping around the spawn. However it could make for some fun gameplay since flares are in experimental and light up a large area even in day, so you could drop one of them nearby and flank round while some of them go to investigate. Still though it could get annoying with bandits dominating the map once they've server hopped and got all M4's.

    FRIEND/FOE IDENTIFCATION

Yeah customizable clothes is the way to go, if everyone has the same face mask on you can't tell them apart but your friend might have a rip in his jeans, some guy shows up wearing the same stuff without a rip, that's not your friend rip them apart! I can recognize my friends and family from their stature and how they walk, everyone in DayZ is exactly the same height and walks exactly the same so it is really stupid that you can't identify people. Maybe instead of something floating above them, if you aim at them it could say "Player X" if they're in your friend/clan list so that your character recognizes them. After a certain distance it stops working though but works with scopes and stuff to a further distance. That or being able to paint your own symbols on clothing would be fine, give us different coloured spraypaint and let us make our own clan tags in game that would be epic. An indicator isn't "unrealistic" it's just a representation of what you could gather in real life, you know what your friends look like you don't confuse them with people wearing the same shirt because your friend might be a fatass or skinny, there's too much detail in real life for you not to know, in most cases.

    Suicide Option?

Because we don't anyway with bandits? I'm not sure why you think everyone would just do it all the time, it's quicker to just run to a town and meet up with friends since you might spawn further away. I think this would be a great option I remember one time I was food poisoned and starving and I was running for like half an hour trying to find one of those barns and kill myself because it was so obviously hopeless. If people in a DayZ situation where starving to death or had broken limbs they probably would just kill themselves so it's a good option. Maybe if you suicide that way then it could have a longer timer than a regular respawn? You shouldn't be rewarded for giving up by only having to wait 30 seconds, 180 at least.

Idea for new way to fix broken leg

Yeah a stick + bandage equals a splint if you don't know that OP. Which is an insta-fix...I don't know if they plan on keeping it that way but I hope not, same with morphine I hope they stop you from running but let you walk, hobble so you have to make your character survive for like 5 hours maybe before they can walk decently again, then maybe another 5 to be fully healed because lets be real a realistic healing time would suck so bad, as we do now you might as well just kill yourself.

    Reloading certain guns from pockets

So the Blaze and the shotgun are pretty crap unless you fill your inventory with snaploaders, which takes a looot of space for two shots a piece when one slot holds 15 shells or 20 rounds. So what if you could just flick the mouse wheel after firing your two shots and have options like "Load bullets from front left pocket" Then an animation plays for your character finding them and reloading them. Because having to stop and open the menu is kind of dumb, fairly slow and leaves you wide open. Anyone with an M4 who's only fired a couple of shots can just chase you and give you very little chance to reload. Not that you have to stop to do it of course you can still move with the menu open but a real person has no menu cluttering their vision. Snaploaders should of course be faster but they're extremely inefficient so I don't think they should be the only quick reload method. So I think it would be cool if you could load weapons like these this way so that they'd be more viable as primary weapons and not just side weapons until you find an SKS, M4 or Mosin. I mean you see it all the time in movies people use their shotgun then just casually take bullets out a shirt pocket and reload it they don't take forever to find as they're put in a specific place. It could also make you make mistakes in the heat of the moment and pick the wrong pocket which would add some tension to gunfights. Also adds a bit of realism because you'd need your ammo at the ready in pockets, currently there's no animation for pulling your backpack round and actually taking ammo out it's just click and drag To be honest I think snaploaders for the Blaze and shotgun should just be removed anyway since to have 8 shots for quick reload takes up 4 inventory slots where an M4 can have taped Stanag mags for 60 rounds in two slots. Having both options is fine though so long as snaploaders are significantly faster thus still useful. What do you think? With M4's and such being rarer now other weapons should be made more viable, this is one way to do just that. TL;DR we should be able to use the mouse wheel to select bullets from specific pockets for the Blaze and shotgun instead of having to fill our inventory with snaploaders that take up as much space as a whole bunch of rounds, making the Blaze and shotgun more viable weapons.

    Reloading certain guns from pockets

So nobody else likes the idea? Snaploaders being fast doesn't make much sense really, they'd still have to be easily accessible, there's no animation for taking them out the backpack they just appear which obviously in reality isn't the case. So we could have our characters dig in to their pockets and pull out a few shells or a snaploader, instead of it magically appearing when it was somewhere inaccessible in a fight. Another option I guess could be having craftable snaploaders because they're pretty rare, in comparison to 30 round mags and whatever else, right now they're only useful because of their unrealistic game function.

How could we deal with hackers?

Not a whining topic, actual discussion. So let's come up with possible solutions. Firstly, a message saying who you were killed by is something that would help, so that if you go in to Berenzino and get killed by the same guy over and over despite looking at every rooftop, obviously some bullshit is going down. So then I think a flag or kick feature could be added to the game, many people flag a player they get kicked. Though it would no doubt be abused by clans I still think it would be better than people getting away with hacking, if you get kicked for no reason so what you still have your stuff just join another server. Or rather than that have active admins with their own slot in a server so that once a person is flagged they can go investigate(make them invincible or something but can't kill players) and if a person genuinely is hacking in to walls or whatever, kick. I'm sure they'd instantly be shot at to the point where it would be made obvious the person has infinite ammo too. Obviously it's an alpha right now and a lot of things will be fixed in future but no game is without it's cheaters so even when it's finished people will probably still find a way. "Alpha" is no magical bandaid that means it will be impossible to hack in future, so lets keep the whining to a minimal and think of some possible solutions. So what realistically implementable solutions have you thought of?

    Reloading certain guns from pockets

That works too but I still don't really see the point in snaploaders, they don't make a lot of sense other than with the magnum. In real life it would take no time to take a couple of shells your your pocket and bang them in a double barrel, a snaploader may even take longer to get in properly. But yeah stackable snaploaders is decent but they're somewhat rare so it's not perfect, so I think the combo of both could work just without them it takes a couple of seconds to reload but you can still run around effectively while doing so. That and being able to put bullets in those holster things you get on the side of guns would work well I think, heck maybe even a bullet belt, that could be like the ultimate gear item for these weapons.
  24. UltimateGentleman

Experimental brings us hunting, do you want to know what this means?

I don't understand how cans of food would be all that rare really, clearly any kind of evacuation in this place failed hence all the dead people running around. Unless you just don't stock well look in your cupboards, how many cans of food are there? I guarantee there won't be just one most people have at least 10 and then say there's 60 houses in a town, 600 cans of food so I don't see why there should only be a couple it's unreasonable that everyone would have been able to pack everything in the panic. This is one of the "realistic" aspects of the game...that isn't really. I'm not saying that there should be tons of cans in each house as that would be too easy but toning it down to like 3 per town is ridiculous, especially since 64 bit servers are coming which means a lot more time before a server is reset, every town would just be looted for those 3 cans by like the 3 hour mark.
  25. UltimateGentleman

    How are players finding me!

I guess it's just good luck on their part as they managed to spawn where you were. Berenzino is quite the hot zone usually, as are any towns with police stations everyone who knows where they are will attempt to go there first to get equipped but then people camp nearby in order to...well, I'm sure you can guess what they do :P Best thing you can do is go on "friendly" servers, maybe you'll get shot at a bit less. BUT NOTE These " ", so called friendly servers aren't exactly friendly people will still likely shoot at you for no good reason but perhaps less.
