    Milking Cows

This would be cool, I'd love if they added a ton of recipes like you could make rice pudding and stuff, maybe even bread. Screw being a KOS bandit or a hero or random survivor, I want to be a chef! The cows don't run away from you anyway so it shouldn't be a problem milking them, I walked right up to one and killed it with an axe it didn't even try to run away. Maybe you could even get rope and lead them to your base when that's in the game? That would be awesome.

    DLC/Addons distribution solution.

I get where you're coming from but dude people round here don't really like new ideas so expect mostly negative feedback on this... I would rather DLC maps with different guns etc than being able to buy guns. It would be nice if for example only 10% of the players moved from the main game to the DLC map, so the servers would be less full and smoother, potentially have less douches. OR they could have a map that's basically a battlefield field with guns and whatnot for all the KOS people to flock to. I like the general idea but it would probably take them too long, if it's taken them this long to get the one game running as it is how long would a new map etc take them? Bigger and better games would come out by then, such as MMO's.

    Random sounds NEED to go.

Yeah it adds some scares and tension...but if nothing is actually breaking the twigs what's the point... As someone else said if sound is "easy to do" why don't the sound guys just...you know, do it? All they seem to do is tweak current sounds or at new gun noises which isn't all that often, what do they do between these that's so important they can't fix it? The audio in this game is terrible I've turned round so many times to find someone standing behind me, usually in an echoey house where I definitely should have heard their footsteps without having to have my volume maxed and deafen me when anything else happens at all. If it's easy get it fixed and out the way rather than taking years to fix the big bugs, it's easy enough to adapt to other broken things like zombies but randomly hearing ones that aren't there isn't something you can adapt to.

    Random sounds NEED to go.

That makes me wonder if perhaps everyone is linked, maybe when your leg randomly breaks it's because someone else playing on the server had a leg break? Or a situation where they should have broke their leg, but the leg breaking happened to someone else. I know I've fallen off a couple of buildings and been fine anyway... Anyway yeah I find this really annoying, especially when you're hiding in a bush surveying an airfield or something before running in and you hear a can opening like someone is standing right next to you in the bush and freak out. Or random zombies they're probably the worst, in an open field where there's clearly no zombies suddenly you hear one >.< or when you're chowing down on some sweet tactical bacon you've been saving and think one is about to run through the wall and murder you...

Why DayZ is no survival game

Sorry I wasn't meaning to take it out of context is just that's what everyone says they go ahead and say it's not realistic to improve and then explain that it is or just fail to understand that it is. It doesn't give anyone any real "advantage" everyone can improve their skills, the point is people have actually put the work in for them it's not just run to heli crash site pick up M4 and instantly be a shooting god compared to someone who just found an SKS. It doesn't really matter about the player you can't be that much more skillful than someone else the only things you have an influence on are your aiming(getting used to the pre-determined sway patterns anyway), sense of direction and combat tactics. That's it, that's all the variety to player talent in the game everyone else takes the same amount of time to bandage, eat, hop over fences, reloads and building. Wouldn't you rather be killed by a bandit who had excellent aim and know that they had to survive for ages to get their aim that good? Instead of just picking up any old thing off the ground and being able to shoot like a trained soldier. Or that your character is skilled with guns and when met with a group of bandits you can aim at them without your gun swinging about everywhere. Your character can't adjust to the situation like a real person would, they of course can't just emulate your own skills but with a skill system you could at least build them up and make your character something like you are. By skills I'm pretty sure nobody means like perks for infinite running or reduced falling damage just like an unseen 0/100 stat or something that once you get to 100 in whatever field aiming for instance your aim is as good as it can get in the game, etc. How would that ruin it? Because you don't want someone who put effort in to training up their aim to shoot you since they can hold their gun slightly more steady? I think it's you who wants the watered down easy game where everyone can do everything perfectly upon waking up on the ground. It would actually add an amount of challenge to the game, if people started less proficient than they are now anyway. It would actually make it hard if you took a long time to bandage yourself to begin with, maybe people would actually focus on surviving like we're supposed to instead of just shooting everyone like it's COD.

    Bandages

What would be cool is if we could stop the bleeding with our hands, with a penalty to running speed or the ability to run at all. Instead of having to run around with blood spraying from your shoulder you could hold your hand over the wound to stop the bleeding until you found a rag or bandage. Since there's every chance you could just not find anything and bleed to death when a real person could take their jeans off and use them as a crappy bandage.

Is there an ACTUAL friendly server? Or does anyone...

So I have to be skillful in finding random drops? How does that make sense, I needed to check an airfield because that's the most likely place to find a combat knife and I even found an ashwood stick and rope there, which I hadn't found laying around anywhere after going round a good third of the map. There's no skill or judgement involved when someone silently walks up behind you and shoots you when you're picking something up, I wasn't doing crafting experiments I was trying to get the things needed because there's no safes or anything to use so you need to haul everything around... So yeah just one safe server would be nice to go in and make all the new things then switch back to regular now knowing what to do and having experienced fishing or whatever. It's not like you can just go ask people if they want to trade for some rope you need, you'll get shot 99 times out of 100.
  8. UltimateGentleman

Is there an ACTUAL friendly server? Or does anyone...

No I want 5 minutes to cook some fish without people shooting at me this game isn't set in Detroit dammit.
  9. UltimateGentleman

Is there an ACTUAL friendly server? Or does anyone...

I guess I'm wrong to wonder if there's some utopia server where people actually try to play the game and survive instead of turning it in to a war game. Yeah I've been trying empty servers but they just seem to fill up right away to at least 12 people and they all seem to be in airfields or where you need to look for new things. I don't really want to join a clan just wanting to experience the hunting and such then not play for a while. When a certain other game appears I might just delete DayZ from my Steam honestly, if the in game community if you can call it that doesn't improve at all. It's a great game but the people stop it being a great experience, mostly. If you just want to murder people then yay but if you don't this game gets so tiresome.

Is there an ACTUAL friendly server? Or does anyone...

I mean more ones with active admins who kick when people kill each other not ones with a friendly fire setting or anything like that. It would be cool if there were servers where you have to speak English/French/whatever to join since half the time you're saying friendly you might be talking to some Asian dude who has no idea what you're saying and shoots you... I don't see how it could be made any easier unless they make stones, sticks, shovels, axes, pickaxes, rope and matches spawn everywhere and close to each other, it will probably always be like this so people are encouraged to actually work together to find supplies faster.
  11. So since the update I've played the game 5 times, 4 out of 5 of those times it crashed to the desktop within like 10 minutes... Before I would get like half an hour to an hour or it wouldn't crash at all now it's practically definite, my drivers are all up to date and the game ran fine before, connection is ok too. Just seems to be since the update. I'm kind of annoyed because that's twice now it happened while a zombie was chasing me, I only hope I ran far away enough and closed with task manager fast enough... So yeah for me at least it seems to be way worse, I shit you not in 1 of those 4 times I literally played it like a minute before it crashed. Also I close every other non-essential process and my PC has 6 gigs of RAM so it's in no way being overloaded, plus it worked relatively ok before.
  12. The game ran fine before I could handle the infrequent crashes but now I can't play for more than half an hour before it crashes to the desktop while zombies are chasing me, I don't even have my graphics or anything set to high and my computer can handle them anyway. At the pace things get fixed it definitely only seems like one guy is working on it, Beta is supposed to be the "fix what you broke" stage but where is the "fix what was already broken and has been for years" stage?
  13. I wouldn't say I've lost faith I just don't see why they took so long to release this patch and it's still broken... How many people are in the team? Because it sure seems like there's only one guy doing the programming, it would be nice if they sent the art guys and everyone else on holiday and just hired some good programmers to come in and fix as much as they can. I don't care about new stuff so much as it actually being playable. Crashing to desktop happened to me maybe like 1 in 10 times I played but now it's like 9 in 10.
  14. UltimateGentleman

Is anyone else finding crashing to desktop MUCH more common?

Yeah I'd like to know what causes it at least, could we expect some kind of hotfix or will they just leave it for later? I was all excited to have something to do again but if it's just going to keep doing this well I can hardly play it can I... Wasn't on a full server or anything either and was on a few favourite ones that have always been fine and none of them had just restarted.
  15. UltimateGentleman

Is anyone else finding crashing to desktop MUCH more common?

So it's not just me then, good to know. It never happened to me on experimental either only when this update got pushed to stable, kind of annoying trying to test out all the new stuff when it keeps dying on you. I had almost everything I needed to get a fishing rod then it done it and when I loaded it my character was reset 1 of those times too >.> it's almost as if server admins get a "ruin this person's play time" button...

    Gutting Animals

I hope it doesn't stay this way... If you were hungry enough you could just rip their entrails out with your bare hands. It should be an option, just take longer and get badly damaged meat.
  17. UltimateGentleman

There is no such thing as a random kill.

I like the part where you act as though there's an equal chance to find someone nice or bad, it's not bad luck or anything I'm sure the community will agree that like 90% of the people they find, at least try to kill them. Exactly what is wrong with this game, well no there's nothing wrong with the game(except all the bugs) but the way people treat it. Sure in an apocalypse people would kill each other from time to time but there would be a reason unless they'd full on went insane. People in this game don't kill because of greed they kill for fun, how many times have you seen people camping on rooftops go down and get the loot? Probably never because they just wait for the next poor sucker and shoot them too, they have all they need anyway. I always love seeing people try to say there's a good reason for killing people, especially noobs other than "for the lolz" Although it makes it enjoyable meeting people who have nothing and not shooting them because you get so much praise for not being an annoying dickbag so hey bandits and general assholes make friendly encounters all that more special. Then again they slowly kill the population of nice people. Unless it somehow becomes hard to KOS like if zombies can climb ladders this game will just be a deathmatch within a few months after the release. All you "hardcore" people will be welcome to it.

    New update questions

    1. What the hell does an ashwood tree look like/do you actually need ashwood sticks for a fishing rod? (post a photo of the tree if you can) 2. How do you make a fishing rod, never got the chance on experimental, I thought it was rope and ashwood sticks then you need a hook, do you need all three at once? Or is it a bow that needs rope... Sure hope they don't keep it so you need specific sticks to make a rod.. 3. What does a fish hook look like on the ground? I checked barns and everything, can't imagine they stand out much. 4. Can I use stones if there are 0 remaining? The only stones I ever seem to find are pristine but have 0 remaining...why does the item still exist if there are none? . This is mainly me asking questions but if you have any ask away maybe people will be nice and answer. Please no "just go play the game yourself!" comments it's not exactly clear how to do some things in the game, I bet there are still people who don't even know you can make a splint because you'd only find out if someone told you, you randomly paired the items together or you asked Google.
  19. The devs or the hackers? If they've fixed this PBO thing not sure how it's getting worse... There probably always will be a couple of hacks there but I'm sure most will be ironed out or detectable and bannable upon full release.
  20. So does this mean nobody can hack to have infinite ammo and whatnot? Or is it just for some hacks? I'd imagine the latter anyway there's probably some way to do some hacks but at least it's a lot more difficult for them. Now either they're kicked out of the community or have to show everyone how pathetic they are at the game without cheating :D

    Base Building Ideas

How detailed can they make it really? I mean I doubt it could have a so in depth construction system that you can carry every plank and place it where you want, extremely unrealistic expectation. So will it just be like H1Z1 where you see the image of what you're building and can place it wherever you want? Because that's basically the only thing that would work but I imagine everyone would moan about how it's not realistic blah blah blah it can't be realistic it's a game.
  22. UltimateGentleman

    Why do you play DayZ?

...no you don't How does it help anyone when people are sitting in bushes miles away sniping? You can't at all tell you've been sniped you could have been shot in the back or by someone way on the horizon, nobody can be so skilled that they can canvas a whole area perfectly before going in it would take like half an hour to run round a town and check every spot where there might be a person camping. So no laying on a hill and shooting people doesn't help anyone and it certainly doesn't make either person more skilled it just makes one more annoyed that people don't even try to have any interaction. I don't see what you expect people to learn from being killed, most of the time you just get shot as soon as you go in a place or in the back it's not like you can watch a killcam and learn where your attacker was, stop trying to justify killing people for no reason. KOS is only legit at airfields or when someone has a gun out and are going to see you. Sitting sniping people isn't legit, it's cowardly and what's even the point? Who would do that in a zombie apocalypse? You must be new to the game and think people kill you because they need your stuff. No, they kill you just because. How often have you been killed by someone who wasn't fully geared up? Again trying to justify KOSers making the game a deathmatch. If someone doesn't even have a gun why shoot them? I usually walk up to them and see if they have anything to trade, survival is banding together not killing everyone and taking their stuff if you were in this apocalypse how would you feel finding out you killed every last human? If you felt anything but that you're a complete retard you're wrong.
  23. UltimateGentleman

    Why do you play DayZ?

I for one agree with you almost everyone in this game is an unsociable fucker they'll just kill you when you have your back turned and have literally nothing of value "for teh lulz" What's so fun about that? Really dull way to play, KOS is boring and does not make you some skilled badass, what "skill" do you even need in this game anyway? Aim the dot at someone and spray 30 rounds with your M4 you've definitely killed them with your "skill" I don't see why people can't act like they're a survivor in a survival game, KOS isn't survival it's treating the game like it's a war game, go play CoD, Battlefield or ARMA if that's what you want. Not that KOS isn't legit sometimes, someone with a gun out looking nasty at an airfield it's dumb not to consider shooting them before they shoot you. Which they probably would. Anyway. At this point I play the game(well, I haven't in a couple of months) just to annoy bandits, I either don't get geared up or get basic gear then just run in circles around them because you practically can't be shot. Then when they do kill me I'll just keep going back with whatever weapons I find along the way and make sure they at least bleed because it's really funny inconveniencing assholes like that. You want to sit on the Berenzino hospital and needlessly snipe fresh spawns? Well I'm just going to harass you then :D potentially rally up some more respawned victims and we'll all murder you. Beyond that I like to explore and get geared up whenever there's an update I like to check out the new gear and features. There's not much else to do otherwise. I see why people turn to PVP because there's nothing else to do but it's not like you need to play DayZ for PVP, it's not even good PVP.

    Perks/skills/professions/stats

Exactly as Rigor just said. There's so little in the game that you don't need to define yourself as a medic it's not hard to remember that charcoal pills are for food poisoning or that bandages are an instant cure for bleeding, you can't be anything in this game you can only pretend. Where with a skill progression system you can be a medic, you can use medical supplies often so that you can apply them faster and more effectively than others in your group, whereas they could go down a marksman route having less movement when holding a gun. I don't think it should ever be that you can only go one route, everyone should be able to get the skills of a medic, marksman and whatever else it should just take like 200 hours of surviving, shooting, healing yourself and others etc etc. What sense does it make that you wouldn't get better at shooting? The longer you survive the better you get at it, the more you do anything the better you get at it, why should it not be like that in a game that's main purpose is to be as realistic as possible? You should start unable to use weapons properly at all, taking a long time to put magazines in maybe even having to work out what way they go in, a total noob. Not just have bad aim but otherwise can do everything perfectly that makes no sense. In the beginning if you get a bad cut it shouldn't be a case of selecting bandages/rags and then clicking then you're done, there should be moments of error where you haven't stopped the bleeding quite yet or maybe you need to sit and hold your wound for a while(since everyone knows to keep pressure on them from the movies) Progression would keep it fresh. I'm more interested in that than professions but those would be great too, I mean what is your character? He's not you, he doesn't have your skills he's just some blank template human who for some reason knows how to do everything very efficiently. The current learning process in the game amounts to: Ask someone how to do something Randomly combine items Ask Google And then when you've done it once huzzah you're an expert and it only took a few clicks.
